Anybody have any high recommendations for some less well known bands?
Radio has gotten me bored of all the mainstream stuff ):

I'm into pretty much everything except generic rap as that's all pretty samey to me >.<

Depends, if you're into metal or hard rock I would suggest Alestorm, Rammstein, Nightwish, Amon Amarth, Sonata Artica and the like.

Then again, you can never go wrong with the classics.

Black Metal:

Immortal
Burzum
Gorgoroth
Mayhem
Panzerfaust
Dissection
Samael
Dimmu Borgir, specifically "For All Tid" and "Stormblast (original release)"
Emperor
Thy Serpent
Darkthrone

Death Metal, and all its offshoots:

Suffocation
Arsis
Necrophagist
Deicide, specifically "Deicide" and "Legion"
Wretched
Empyrean Eclipse
Iniquity
Hypocrisy
Impaled Nazarene
Angelcorpse
Rotting Christ
Nile, specifically "In Their Darkened Shrines" and "Annihilation of the Wicked"
Vehemence

All the other categories of metal:
Ensiferum
Rhapsody (of Fire)
Nevermore
Amon Amarth
Iced Earth
Blind Guardian
Sinergy, specifically "Suicide By My Side"
The Black Dahlia Murder,
Yngwie Malmsteen
Dawn
Venom

If you need more, lemme know, but that should cover ALL your metal needs.

EDIT: Tack Azathoth on that list, they're pretty good.

Buck 65 and Bike for three for some alt hip hop.

Victor Wooten for some bat shite insane bass stuff.

Harmonic 313 and u-ziq for some rad electronica

You can never go wrong with Miles Davis.

I'm fairly confidant that I have an aweful taste in music. half the stuff I listen to can hardly be classified as music. The other half, it sound slike someone's strangling an instrument or themselves.

But as much as I like my taste, I actively avoid bringing it up in conversations. Shameful, isn't it?

For that reason, I can't really recommend any for you.

'cos I don't listen to any of that new stuff. sounds like crap to me. (but that's me)
Only new stuff I listen to is foreign.
