Nothing major like attacks on banks, just parlor tricks for the most part.
Thanks to stumble upon I've found acouple things that are helping. It doesn't change the fact that I don't know the first thing about hacking. It also doesn't help that most of what I've found isn't very user friendly either, at least not to the newbs.
I was trying the first basic challenge over at Hellboundhacker, or as someone called it "the idiot test" and couldn't figure it out with out help.
I have started learning HTML.

So, does anyone have any good advice?

Well just don't be dick with it. I mean i'm not to sure why you want to get into it because if your not fucking with some one then I really don't know what the purpose of it is. I mean it might be fun to learn so go for it, then when a asshole like Lulzact strikes hack'em right back.

Ich liebe du's avatar.

I don't know if I said that right but I love that avatar. Not so great with the German but what ever.

Hacking for Dummies [http://amazon.com/x/dp/076455784X] on Amazon. It does exist!

My understanding is that hacking is essentially an endless stream of research. Kinda like how everyone thinks "Dude, I should make video games!" and then finds out that commercial programming is this actual job that takes a lot of work and is boring most of the time. Reality takes all of the fun out of it.

hacking is legal as long as you don,t do it without permission (just like lock picking)
just sign up and don,t do anything stupid like hacking google and putting your name everywhere.

It's nigh on impossible to hack google. I think somebody discovered a minor flaw in it once, and that didn't actually give much access. Even the Chinese sponsored hacks haven't gotten very far in.

Just get yourself some good books and get some good programs and learn how to use them. Here is a good list

Hacking isn't a skill. Programming is. Then, as you get better, you learn how to do more stuff.

And you have to know programming REALLY well. Assembler, C, C++, etc. And you have to start with older things and move up. HTML isn't even hard. And parlour tricks is cracker territory.

This too. Just researching things will eat up all of your free time.

Hacking is boring, and not worth learning.

If you're interested in computers, learn programming instead. It actually does something productive, has a chance of making you money, and is much more rewarding and addicting than trying to hack. And if you really wanted to, the skills you learn from programming could probably make you a white-hat.

I think it's 'deine' rather than 'dus', no idea what avatar is in german though.

Define what the heck you mean by "hacking." Like trying to crash your computer through an underhanded exception or trying to exploit a weakness int he internet/internet protocol stack... or what? It sound like your treating computers like magic boxes here and hacking as some sort of well defined field.
