I wholeheartedly agree. It seems that men are being increasingly negatively stereotyped in the modern world's media, and we're technically defenseless against it. Then again, I don't watch much TV, so it doesn't really affect me as much.

What really irks me about the commercial is not the sexist premise, however. It's the dramatically overdone facial expressions, especially the look of childish glee on the man's face as he's shaking.

And the giggle at the end makes me want to scissor kick the narrator in public. And then cast Magic Missile.

It's like those perfume ads, Now i might sound like a stereotypical male saying this.
But there's always a nude man striding about the ocean or his condo with the camera taking sneeky shots of his arse. Yet if such a thing were to happen with a woman it would be considered pornographic or overly erotic and get shown after the watershed at 4am while kids have to sit and look at jhonny macho bravo's turkey jiblets jibble infront of their eyes.

Tough, tough world we live in.

Yes it sucks.
Geico earned uber respect points on the whole advertising bit by lampooning themselves with the Caveman thing.
At least not everyone in marketing is totally unaware of what's going on.

EDIT: Note that the commercial is British. They have different standards there, OP, because I'm pretty sure you're American.
Could be wrong though.

I guess next there'll be an ad for watermelon knifes or something ( knifes for cutting watermelons, not knifes made of) with a black guy and a white guy. I need not even say what they would, because you alreayd know. Don't you.
you dirty little horse.
"So easy, a white man could do it!" And then it'll show both families enjoying watermelon together in the park.

If you're referring to me. I'm legally british, in that, I'm scottish.
But if i'm left with 'Are you scottish or british?' i'll always say Scottish. Understand? :p

I really wouldn't put too much thought into this. As its been said, the acting is so terrible, its intended to be a joke. The commercial is aware of it.

While it is incredibly sexist, I smirked when the guy was making all his dumb facial expressions. I wouldn't get too worked up over it, thats all.

That makes me rage.

When did it become socially acceptable to portray men as fat, dumb, slovenly tools whose sole prerogatives are to shirk responsibility, drink, fuck and watch sports?

Because that what I see in the majority of adverts nowadays.

Sexist and kind of insulting to Australians (imo). Maybe i'm just bitter because you literally save £100's a year on insurance for being female, it's a bloody con.

I HATE the double standards with sexism.
I closed the window after just three seconds of hearing that! Made my ears bleed (not really). that is really horrible.

Gather round kiddies! I have quite a tale relating to this topic!

Well once upon a time there was a married couple. The wife didn't quite satisfy the husbands needs, so he cheated. He admitted to his wife of his infidelity, so she did the most resonable thing and smashed him in the face with a huge rock, sending him to the hospital and probably breaking his face bone. They went to court and She won the case.

Now if the man smashed the wife in the face with said rock, don't you think he'd be in jail for a while? I mean it's like they always go easy on the women.

I feel your pain. I have to pay roughly twice times as much for auto insurance as a girl of the same age. Sexist scoundrels, the lot of them... *grumbles*

The thing that kinda made me go wtf is she's in the background staring at him the whole time looking like she stepped barefoot on a rake recently. Or how it seems like she's expecting him to leave as soon as she isn't looking
