This could beat Modern Warfare 2?

The question today is, what could beat modern wafare 2 in terms of game sales? With over $500 million in sales in its first five days, what other game could beat it? You tell me. It can be an upcoming game, or maybe a fictional one that we can only dream of. The range can be anything from Halo Reach to Mario: The first person shooter.

I think a microsoft version of Super smash brawl. We would have the master chief, captain Price, Altiar, gordan freeman, ect.

If halo reach was on pc and ps3 then it might, but that isn't going to happen. As for microsoft super smash bros, probally with sony as well so snake can get in along with many others from there.

A Sony Smash would do a lot better than a Microsoft one, since MS doesn't have too many 1st-party characters and Sony has quite a few more.

But I think the perfect game would be a Saints Row with RF: Guerilla destruction physics. It would easily be the best game ever, though most would still say GTA4 is better (which can only be because of the title because without the GTA part, most would consider that game crap).

But GoW3 probably will outsell MW2.

I'm going with Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, World of Warcraft expansion pack or possibly HL2, EP3. Not much else with the background needed for sales the size of MW2's. Actually, if Valve released Counter Strike.. Whatever the next one is numbered, then that would beat it easily. It would be the must have game of the decade till SC2 and HL2EP3 came out.

I don't think so; MW2 is multiplatform, so it has more consumers to sell it to. GoW3 will, most likely, not be.

I can't think of many games that could outsell MW2, actually. The hype for that game was unimaginable! If Halo ever went multiplatform then it might do it, but I can't really think of many other games with that level of hype.

Maybe a new Spyro game made by Insomniac. Not because everyone would buy it, but because I'd buy so many copies that it would outsell MW2. Why would I want to do that, you may ask: Because I'm a chronic fanboy of the first three games, and if a new one sold well, Insomniac might take the series back up for good.

Red Dead Redemptions going to pull in the entire GTA/Rockstar fan base, all the people who dropped GTA because of the newest one, its also going to take all the wild west fanatics, the people who want a well built, giant sandbox game like Mercenaries, and they've been working on advertising it for a while, they're getting people in on the idea.

They're also releasing at some stupid time that might give them the advantage of being the only hyped up brand new game out at the time.

Didn't Final Fantasy XIII just own all of Japan a little bit ago? Maybe it didn't outsell MW2 though.

And, yeah, if it's a world wide release then SC2 will most likely beat Modern Warfare. I mean, it's in space. And it's futuristic. Plus, as someone else already said, pretty much every household in Korea will buy it. StarCraft is pretty much their sport. Yeah.

If by muscley you mean martial artist (okay, I do poetry, but it's slam style, on the side) and if by frat boy you mean someone who lives with frat roomies, then me. You've found someone. Besides, the other guy I know who owns/plays MW2 is neither in a frat nor muscley.

I doubt anyone could find a group of frat boy muscley type men who are enthusiastic about gaming at all. At least, there are way more Koreans in Videogameland than even semi muscley guys.

MW2 was released at the right time, I dont know what made it the right time, but just like everything else, somethings going to come along and put it one game over on the shelf.

Speakings a somebody rather sick of mainstream offerings, especially games whose main selling feature is to repackage Counterstrike, I'd say the scum that gets stuck on the bottom of my shoe in a trek through the sewers could beat Modern Warfare 2.

That said, I'm definitely plopping down my cash on Mass Effect 2. As far as mainstream offerings go, Bioware has their merits.

Unless a game is Multiplatform, it wont outsell MW2. I think Mass Effect 2 has a chance to outsell MW2, it's slim, but possible.

In the next 5 years I predict a lot, and I do mean "A LOT" of modern warfare games settings to appear.

I mean next year there's already Medal of Honor coming out with their version, plus you have Battlefield which has been doing it for a while now to be fair.

Eventually the series will kill itself off just like the WW2 shooter has in recent years.

So in other words, it doesn't matter what game comes out to outsell MW2 since you can expect to be seeing a lot of its renditions and knock-offs coming out in the future....=/

Modern warfare 3? Or GTA 5. It's gotta be the continuation of a popular franchise and not a new series.
