I'll start off by saying I like in England, and I'll continue in the British way of talking about THE WEATHER!

Most of the year we here get rain, and when it's not raining it's windy and cold. When we finally get a little Sun and Warmth it is a surprise and a brilliant thing and when we get a few inches of Snow (which is like every other year) the country stops, adults complain like hell about not being able to drive their LandRovers to work and Children make meagre snowmen. (When I was 10 the only Snowmen I could make was about a foot tall and out of powdery snow, I didn't really see more than an inch of snow until I was 17).

However much we complain though our weather really isn't that bad. I mean we had a 2 hour shower of Rain and some Strong Winds yesterday and today and we moan that we're having a storm. All I say to this is Look at America, this is the tail end of their Hurricane. In England you may have to hold on to your jacket or fix your inside out umbrella but that's nothing compared to having to board up windows and having to abandon your home and go to a shelter.

All the weather conditions that we here in GB complain about are nothing compared to the similar conditions in other countries. Our small earthquakes that occasionally knock a chimney over is not comparable to those in New Zealand where whole buildings toppled. Our Heatwaves are weak compared to the ones on the Continent that cause heatstroke or others like those causing Wildfires in California and Australia.

Yes we are getting a little wet from the rain today but buckle up folks of the UK. We really do live in one of the best countries weather wise even if it not always warm and sunny be glad we're not being swamped in lava.

Does anyone else get annoyed when people complain about how bad their country is even though it is so much better than others?

I live in one of the rainiest cities in the world (Vancouver) and it doesn't stop it from being completely fantastic. Rain is underrated.

Except on cold winter days. Then rain can politely go fuck itself.

It is an odd standard. "You crazy Brits and your rain and bad weather." "You crazy Yanks with your deadly storms of pure energy."

I disagree for the sole reason being that i heard your government is contemplating censoring social media networks.

On topic now, no, since i don't live in Libya or some other poohole that has a revolution every five years interspersed with the occasional mass bombing

I agree completely here. If it wasn't for all these stupid people maybe we could have a better country.

I get annoyed when people say how nice we have it in Sweden after staying here over the summer. Our winters are fucking awful.
sure, we don't have that much snow compared to some other countries but it's darker than space itself most hours of the day.

I know, we always get stereotyped as living in a rainy country but the rain here is NOTHING compared to other places.

I love rain.
I had the best weather ever yesterday, Rain in Bright sunshine. I love rain but when it combines with sun it makes one awesome day :)

the main problem is we get all-together too-much weather..
it just ends up being the equivalent of brown, it's as bad as drowning yourself in porridge it's a completely mundane way to live / die.
at-least the plants like it.

Yeah I see that. Having it day after day does make you kinda annoyed, waking up to dark and thinking "it must still be night" until you realise "Oh it's just raining again" But still what Zorg says about Sweden

I'm just glad we don't have the extremes here that everywhere else has.

Easy to say when you don't live directly on the slope of the moors. All those hills mean it rains about 200 days of the year..

-26c to +38c is MORE than enough for my liking.

I need a country that stays at 16* all the time. that would be ideal for me

anyhow, it's rare we get them and mostly it's a shade of grey brown blegh weather that cant decide what to do
i like the lightning storms, they're fun. so much ionisation in the air then boom it's all gone.

apparently Portugal and Thailand are good places for weather, and vary by less than 40*c mostly in the positive range
vast improvement over uk weather at least

A Hermit's Cave
I like rain... I find it comforting. Nothing beats an overcast day with a heavy drizzle. I've had to stop myself from dancing when I'm out, some days... *sigh*

You wanna see rain? COme to Brazil during our Summertime. Then you will see rain.

And an assortment of poisonous creatures floating towards you. But I digress.

I can't see what the problem is, if you follow the lines of latitude, we are at the same hight as parts of Russia, Canada and Sweden, and look at our weather compared to theirs. Also, Britain has its summer in March, April and May, not June, July and August. it can get quite warm, in those months, but it never lasts. Seriously, I can't work out why people don't realise this, I had to explain this to my parents and they were like 'oh yeah', they're both over 50 and have never realised this.

No but i get annoyed at statements like that. guarantee if someone fromt he US made that statement about their country the forum would alight in a fervor of hate.

In fact, you could say that Weather we have in America (either of them, though the north seems to get the worse), or they have in Australia, New Zealand, the nations in the South Pacific, Haiti, etc. makes us tougher for it and much more hardy then the Brits who just have to deal with some rain.

Doesnt make those countries better though, just a different lifestyle.

I live in Ottawa where Rick Mercer said once that Ottawa in the winter is like razor blades in your nose. past couple of winters haven't been to bad (only reaching -40 degrees Celsius a few times) and people still ***** and moan about it, then when Summer comes around they complain it's to hot (this summer it got near 40 degrees Celsius for a few weeks straight). I know those are pretty extreme (especially with the humidity) but come on people shut your face hole or move!
