Due to an early thread being a bit of tease. And also due to having spent sometime on "Legend of Korra/Avatar: The Last Airbender" forums[footnote]Not a member or anything, just forum-stalking[/footnote], I am here to proclaim how amazing the Escapist is!

You guys are great, (Well, most of you. You know who you are.-cough-). So, I'd like to thank all of you great people for you make this an Oasis in an Internet wasteland.

I had a look at Destructoid and I dont particually like the forum structure there (people are nice enough though)

TBH, this forum used to to be more interesting but I think those who have stuck around for as long as more probably eventually retired for that very reason.

This forum is my virtual home. I've posted a comment or two on Screwattack and that-guy-with-the-glasses but this is the forum I use above all others. I've been here longest and I'll be here until the site dies (which hopefully won't happen). I have a livejournal too but that's personal and doesn't really count in this context.

The Escapist forums are alright, but can be even more annoying than most. Whenever you encounter a flamewar, it usually involves this kind of infuriating, passive-aggressive, pseudo-intellectual tone and they can go on for fucking days, with people adopting a snooty air of superiority and intellectual pretension while denying and any all accusations of flaming. Somehow, it's even worse than the usual forumgoers "lol yr a dick".

But besides that, I have a nice time here.

At least most of the superiority seems to have gone away. I remember a time when it was a lot worse

Like for instance a news article on a 4 year old accidentally shooting themselves after finding their parents handgun (Which had been left on the coffee table).

One poster said he was glad the kid was dead and removed from the genepool.
