I'm not sure if this counts for anything but I didn't really understand the concept of ammo powers and their worth, and was not too keen on if Overload would help me get through Barriers or just Shields until after the Collector ambush mission, and even then I always felt swarmed by the Collectors because I didn't know how to deal with having the fight Harbinger 10 times because I didn't kill the goons first :(
I'm amazed you got through Insanity difficulty without understanding the powers. You must have had a tough time!

Overload: Kills shields, great against Geth and Tech mercs

Warp/Reave: Kills armour and biotic barriers - great against Harbinger and mechs

Incendiary ammo is a must for a lot of levels, it's basically a 'win' button as it destroys the insane amounts of armour that foes like harbinger and giant mechs have and it does continuous damage to organics

Cryo ammo is just major suck, and Warp ammo is great against biotic barriers.

I loved ME2 on Insanity, it was quite tactical and very challenging in parts.

I understand all the mechanics and the like now but I came into ME2 on my first playthrough on Insanity without having played the first game on top of that  And this was the first game I forwent guides with so it wouldn't ruin the story.

A wise choice... that is one story you do not want spoiled.

When you get the M60 in MGS4 there is no challenge. i defeated most bosses with it very quickly.

The end game left me staring at the screen long after the credits rolled.

I was too busy hopping around the room in excitement to watch the credits. :D

Secret of Mana once you get magic. The hardest boss in the game is the witch's cat, that's like the third one or so. Every other one: spam magic. Even against the final final boss that's immune to magic - you just spam buffs at your party instead.

Oblivion: If you evade well and sneak-attack a lot then you're just too good, but it's still you. The game truly becomes too easy once you get to enchant your weapons and armor, because then fights truly require no effort, let alone skill.

Jedi Outcast once you get Force Pull 2 for all the shooting enemies and Force Speed for the Dark Jedi. The final boss is easier to defeat with Force Speed than the convenient Power Surge that makes you invincible.

Build a half decent Golem in Legend of Mana. Win the game forever.

Singularity gets really easy once you upgrade the AR and Shotgun. Ammo is plentiful for those guns, and they cover all your bases.

Pokemon is utterly pathetic if you EV train. You can easily get quite far in the Battle Tower with an EV trained squad.

Bioshock. The game is a pain on the higher difficulties until you get the crossbow, then it becomes a walk in the park.

Fallout 1, once you get the power armour from the brotherhood and get a plasma rifle basically nothing can touch you. Oh except when they get a random critical hit for 200 damage, instantly one shotting any character build.

Half-Life 2. Gravity Gun. The End.

Mass Effect as Adept with Barrier and Singularity. Even on the toughest difficulty, it was more or less a cakewalk.

New Vegas (or as far into it I got) became much easier when I bothered to find out about not only the mods for Varmint Rifle, but also about the Ratslayer.

Sniping henceforth was no longer a "that's pretty lined up" activity, but was truly much easier. Except against ants...i can never seem to one-hit ants.

I didn't see the Grav-gun as a game-changer. Useful, sure. But it didn't make every enemy opposition utterly futile. To be honest it's only REALLY useful in Ravenholm. Maybe it'll be useful when I get further into the game...

Dragon Age stays hard for me. Gaxkang kicks my ass every time, even with Mana clash. And if my mage manages to get knocked down quickly upon encountering a group of enemies, their mage might destroy us. At least early on.

Mine is Knights of the Old Republic. I like to play as a consular, but Taris isn't friendly to that build. I get destroyed on Taris because I have high Wisdom, low strength, and low to average dexterity. I'll have good constitution but that doesn't help much when you miss most of your melee attacks (and when they land, they don't do much damage). But after going to Dantooine, I'm good for the rest of the game.

Torchlight, playing as an alchemist. Yahtzee was right, ember lance is a game-breaker. At least until the final boss, which has the health of a final fantasy bonus boss. That part was actually a challenge, which made it fun again.

Infamous.

When you get the shield power and lightning storm power, taking out enemies becomes a walk in the park. Except for the end boss, he's still a ***** to defeat.

New Vegas was just FUUUUUU until I stopped using the Caravan Shotgun and switched to the .357 Magnum. All problems solved.
I found the shotguns pretty useless in New Vegas until I got the Riot Shotgun with the Surgeon perk, then they become beastly.
same with me until i got a hunting shotgun.

[PROTOTYPE] once you get the armor + whip upgrade, it just becomes man slaughter
New Vegas with any Plasma Rifle with high energy weapons (Plus a perk that makes the shots explode and causes chain reactions)

It's just sooooo fun :D

On top of that, on the PC version you can download a mod to mod most weapons, plain insanity and fun
