I've decided today that I have had enough of hearing about Destiny. For fuck's sake, I feel like this game has been talked about for ages, and we've still got months to go before it's out. The first time I was ever really aware of it was when I saw a joke that pointed out how the game's logo looks like Master Chief's codpiece [http://i.imgur.com/amR08I6.jpg?1] but Christ on a bike, that was more than a year ago. And the game STILL ISN'T OUT YET. Now I keep hearing about it and keep seeing that same box art with Master Chief's codpiece, and I just don't understand why the stupid game isn't out yet.

I don't have a problem with Bungee or the game, but I just feel like the game should have been out MONTHS ago, yet it's promotions are only now just starting to gear up and I'm going to be staring at Master Chief's crotch until September. I mean really, since that day I saw the Master Chief image I have become aware of, seen in theaters, and purchased on DVD the movies Frozen, Saving Mr. Banks, and The Great Gatsby. I guess I feel very strongly about Destiny because when I saw the codpiece joke and art for it, I was rather lead to believe the game was coming out soon, or at least within the year (perhaps around the time the PS4 came out). The way so many sites kept going on about it and constantly had something new to say about it, it felt like the last few months before the game was to be released. But nope...it was just an announcement nobody stopped talking about.

I had the same problem with Jessica Simpson's pregnancy. Jesus, that woman was pregnant for like a year and a half.

Anyway, who else is in this situation right now? What game do you feel like has been in development for way too damn long?

It was announced in 2006. At the start of the 7th generation. 8 years on and a whole new generation later and we still have no release date.

As you may recall, it was the exact same situation with Titanfall. THAT was a game that everyone was talking about from the moment it was first announced as being a possible thing. Why? Because it was Respawn's first project since splintering off from Infinity Ward. Quite simply: people were eager to see what these two big names would come up with now that they're breaking away from the franchises that they built their names off of.

As for me, I'd say it seems like the new Dragon Age has been in development (and has been talked about) for an exceedingly long time.

Really? I've been paying no attention to it aside from when they threw out some proper details somewhat recently, i'm not even sure when it started being developed. This can only be a good thing though, DA2 would have been so much better if they had actually been given even a half decent deadline to meet and I was one of those retards who understood and liked the ending.

OT: I suppose Persona 5 because if you would direct your attention to when Persona 4 first came out back in 2008 (2009 in the EU because Atlus can't do geography.) It's now 2014 and people have been wanting Persona 5 for ages. It actually has a proper trailer now but as far as i'm concerned I won't expect to see it even after it gets a confirmed release date.

Persona 5 is doomed to failure for me, it's going to be good but slightly disappointing I can tell. It's never going to beat 4 and the hype will eat away at me for roundabout 6 months/a year after NA gets it and I just have to avoid spoilers.

Heh, I'd really blame that on hyperactive marketing budgets. It's insane how much is spent on those things sometimes, and it's hard to see that it'll really make the investment back when they're advertising for a game that's still so far away from release.

Personally, current ones are the new dwarf fortress update. It's only been a year, but I keep waiting to make a new fort until release, thinking it won't be long now until it comes out, and it never does.

I think they've said as much, but who knows.

The last I heard was that they're still working on it and the director was pulled onto another project, and was consulting the existing team.

At this point I'm just plugging my ears and going, "LA LA LA LA LA!" until I get an answer. Totally not in denial or anything. >.>

Well, Ico was supposed to come out on the PS1, so that itself doesn't mean much. What does though is that the creative force behind it left/got kicked off the project. And that's like Kojima leaving a Metal Gear Solid game in mid production.

Aparently it's still getting released, but does anyone really wanna to see this... thing?

Dame you, and I was going to mention the fact it already had a release date, and then passed said release date by 7 years and counting.

OT: Planetary Annihilators. Not as bad as other examples (though worst in many respects due to anti-consumer business practices which are made all the worst by the fact it has defenders despite the logic of no one outside the company having a reason to defend it for it), game was supposed to come out in December with its "official" release, but the devs have been dragging it on its feet in the "Omega" build since them, despite the fact that once you start selling your game you are de facto released and getting from Alpha to Beta to release is a formality (one they did the exact opposite of what logical businesses would do in such a situation, footing themselves in the foot in for long term profits on an excuse which makes computer programmers question weather the company is run by a former EA CEO given the logical problems with the reasoning and the long term financial costs it brings with it due to the means of short term financial... losses, since big returns for few copies doesn't do better then small returns for bulk sales).

Well It isn't technically a game and it has been released in Japan but for me it's Flipnote Hatena 3D. It was supposed to be released last year in August but has been delayed due to "unexpectedly high" online usage and we haven't gotten a word about it since then. They've even removed the Friends Gallery feature since people wouldn't stop sending "inappropriate images" to each other.
This version of Flipnote is a paid service but it still hope they release it soon. the Creator and Collector thing sounds interesting.

I really wish Legacy of Kain: The Dark Prophecy would have seen the light of day. I loved the LoK games(atleast the 4 'main' entries) so it's sad to see Eidos dropped this IP like a brick. Also the 'hookman' version of Resident Evil 4 looked really cool though it seems many elements of that version make a recurrence in Evil Within.
