I was reading your response trying to figure out, once again, how this was a boycott trying to think about how I was going to respond. The thing is, removing features from the game that were available from the predecessor I think is good reason to lower the score.GamingAwesome1 said:You got me. But this is just my explanation as to why the PC version has such a low user score.TelHybrid said:But then why are they dumbing down the PC version? why not just improve the console version?GamingAwesome1 said:I've said it before, the PC elitists are just being babies because their game isn't any better than the console version. Therefore they feel the need to whine as they're so used to being able to brag about their versions of games being better. Now that we're on equal terms, they can't handle it and spaz out.
I support IW for this really.
I'm saying this to the hateful trolls that marked down the PC version for not being "better" not all PC gamers as a whole.
I play games to have fun, and sometimes to have useless little knick-knacks line my shelves. While the majority of PC gamers are boycotting it, I'll be having fun playing it on my couch. In the end, thats what really matters, having fun. I'm not supporting the PC version I was going to get. I don't care. I'm happy playing the game on the console, and the controls are honestly not that bad, and this is coming from someone who grew up exclusively on PC FPS'esMarowit said:I was reading your response trying to figure out, once again, how this was a boycott trying to think about how I was going to respond. Well if that does happen it won't matter as lets say at the moment consoles are walking and I think it's time for them to start running.Treblaine said:Now you mention that, dedicated servers are appearing more and more for console games with MAG for PS3 being a notable upcoming example and doesn't Resistance 2 have dedicated servers?Glademaster said:Well I'm sorry but why should the standard of one be dropped when the standard of all can be raised?
Do you chop off one persons legs because their friend can't walk?
No you give the person a wheelchair or prosthetic or whatever is needed.
Also why should I not be angry for getting the full use of my system?
If I was a PS3 owner or 360 owner I would be pissed if a company decided to make the graphics the same as the Wii version to be fair to all platforms. Which is just pure laziness.
But I wonder if Mods, console-commands and other really wonderful standard PC features could even be supported on consoles. Does that even kind of defeat the purpose of a console being mainly for people who are - how do I put this diplomatically - "lacking in technical competence"?

If I'm wrong for doing then, then so be it. But if Infinity Ward wants to screw PC gamers over, it's their company, and if you think they have some obligation to PC users to cater to their every whim, then you are VERY naive.
And frankly, if the PC user base is starting to act like a bunch of elitists, I don't know if I want to be associated with them anymore.

I'm not buying it myself, it shows the start of a bad trend. I'm buying Left 4 Dead 2, a good PC and console game that is good on both.
Its exactly the same as the first game except:
- Its during the day, so its not scary at all
- The weapons suck and have half the ammo
- Melee weapons all do the same thing, no special animations for killing with a guitar (just some string noises) AND you have to ditch your pistol(s) for them, making them something you basically avoid, especially when the main guns have no ammo
- Couple new annoying special infected
MW2 is awesome.
I again have to say I've been a dedicated PC gamer for years. Up until the 360/PS3, I exclusively played PC games. The days of spending days beating a game are long gone I'm afraid. Deus Ex was the last great gem of PC gaming IMO. STALKER and ArmA I/II are other PC exclusives that I absolutely love and play alot, but the games are not well received by a great many people, ESPECIALLY the ArmA series. I've pretty much had to expect to get a game that was only going to have a few hours worth of solid gameplay, because lets face it, the attention span of the majority of gamers nowadays seems to have the timespan of a few hours, so the only way a game can be considered a success is if the game has a strong multiplayer function. In a nutshell, I think it's becoming a necessity to lower expectations in order to actually enjoy a game, or you're just going to be pissed all the time playing 5 year old games. Am I looking forward to Deus Ex 3? Hell no. Will I play it? Yes. Will I pirate it? Hell no, because thats half the reason PC gamers are getting screwed nowadays.Marowit said:Wolfgeist said:I play games to have fun, and sometimes to have useless little knick-knacks line my shelves. Frankly, there are too many good games out there (both single-player and multi-player) to waste money on a a franchise that's starting to make a product that's no longer about quality but the amount of money they can bleed from it's users.
Yes the single-player campaign might be fun, but I can't bring myself to spend $60 on a game that has a 6hour single-player campaign, gimped (by PC gamer standards) multi-player, and a game where if you choose not to buy the DLC locks you out of their IW.net servers. You might find that kind of experience fun, but I certainly don't...not with Dragon Age...L4D2...AC2..Borderlands...the list goes on.
The PC user base isn't elitist we just expect the multi-player experience we've had for yeeeeeears. Especially from a game that only sports a 6 hour single-player campaign that has little replay value(obviously the replay value is opinion). I hear the spec-ops is great fun...but if they're the length of Mile High Club then that's what another 90mins of gaming?
I hope you do have fun with MW2, but just because you're having fun with it doesn't mean these aren't real issues with their game and the direction it's going in. Sure the company may want to make as much money as it can by sacrificing it's quality....like you said it's their company.
