This is actually real. This is not fanmade. A live action Pokemon movie.

They will make them big enough for the Humans to ride on them.
Kind of a debate whether that would happen. (Equestrian) Ponies become human(esque) when they enter wherever the hell Equestria Girls takes place. Which is part and parcel what kind of takes the canon and throws it into a tumble dryer given rather than goi all Sliders with it and create an entirely new parallel dimension with new characters in it (nearly every time), they created abstracted forms of the same characters there.

Which is kind of a mindfuck when you consider the only answer for that is God(s) exist and they have a plan for the multiverse. At the very least evolution is a lie. Or you can just ignore it and probably recognize it was for budgetary reasons of being able to recast with often more of the MLP song voices and others to just basically slot right into the spin off and give them the pay cheque they deserve.

You can literally do anything with Monster Hunter so long as you play it for an hour, recognize the iconic mechanics, and just live up to the title. Monster Hunter has no real stories of note beyond the ones that you craft yourself with the set piece battles with monsters.

The most easiest design philosophy... give the consumer what they want. If you're going to market a Monster Hunter to people, market it as something a Monster Hunter fan wants. They want self insert character doing the incredible of hunting something roughly 15 times bigger than a blue whale. No portals, no modern soldiers, monster *hunters* ...

Give us the eccentric people, the whacky world w/ that crucial mix of ancient Mesoamerican stylings with Western Medieval fantasy and sprinklings of Eastern and South Pacific aesthetics...
So, to be fair, the plot of the movie seems to involve the generic military's weapons not working on the Rathalos, or whatever they're fighting, and they meet a hunter that gives them gear and teaches them how to hunt properly. Or something
Kinda filled me with hope until I realized who the director is.

Be ready for My Little Pony live action movie with real human actors interacting with CGI ponies with realistic fur and hair but still cartoony designs.
Argh ... no. Besides, it would mess with the canon they established and made confusing as hell with Equestria Girls. There's already way too much speculation of just how big ponies actually are to begin with. In one episode Rarity says a gemstone almost a third the size of her head was 20 carats ... so that would make ponies roughly about the weight of a decent packet of crisps
Imagine Equestria Girls: the realistic looking movie. You can thank me for the nightmare fuel...

Already a slash fic for it if I had to guess.

Say what you like, it would be an interesting concept. Possibly more visually interesting than colour palette-d 'humans'. It would also be a hell of a lot more expensive what with practical and computer generated effects, real actors, choreography, stuntwork. It would also have to try harder which naturally either improves product or makes it worse.

I could see a live-action Equestria Girls work ... just that it would end up being High School Musical mixed with magic.

That being said, there is good Equestria Girls content out there. It's not without its parent series' charm. But more often than not it plays into the MLP setting when it does, which would be a weird disconnect.

That and the big problem of Equestria Girls is quite literally the setting. Ponies work in a high fantasy setting where magic is omnipresent in a high fantasy world which runs by mechanics that obligatorily centred amongst them effectively being the prime architects of all aspects of their condition. Celestia raises the sun, pegasi have weather control, Earth ponies are industrious, unicorns exist to be bourgeoisie ... done.

Equestria Girls is not high fantasy. It's fantasy. Often makes magic itself an affliction on the mechanics that it makes the assumption of morally correct for that modern sty;ized setting. Magic is kind of awful, actually. Which would have been an interesting premise for a show if it sort of stuck to that.

It kind of sort of does, then not really, then not really at all.

Though I must confess that one of best things about both series is the fact that Rainbow Rocks exists, and is essentially a movie dedicated to why Starswirl is an arsehole. Because he is. And he should have remained dead. Basically left as if this legendary unicorn that ultimately creates more trouble than he solves and ponies are still picking up the pieces 1100 years later.

One of my favourite things about The Longest Journey was that idea that once you start exploring Arcadia you kind of realize that Stark is actually a pretty alright place despite its cyberpunk dystopian stylings. Like the shopkeeper who I forget the name of extolling the virtues of Stark (a parallel dimension to Arcadia which is ostensibly our Earth, one of mundanity and order) being how magnificent and wonderful it must be to live in a predictable world where magic will literally not upturn and destroy your life.

And if Equestrial Girls channeled something like that, I would say it would be a pretty fantastic concept on its own.

Whether or not it was live action wouldn't really matter too much.

That being said how it's handled, and making that live action would be kind of horrible... I agree. It's not a pleasant thought.

Why is it that game companies let this guy keep picking up their IP? Do they just not bother watching his movies. Are they secretly hoping for a cheesetastic 'so-bad-it's-good' classic ala Mortal Kombat again? The guy has had 23 years to get it right.

I suppose, to be fair, this will only be his fifth(?) movie adaptation of a game series (in terms of game series, not total movies)?

1. Money. Same argument can be made for books, comic books, old TV shows, popular Cartoons, anime, Manga, foreign films, and stage productions. With things getting more expensive to produce, its a good time to find ways to fund your projects and keep the lights and air conditioning

2. Advertising. I is a good way to get new fans into it. Old Boy, The Ring, A History of Violence, and Atomic Blond were all based on Japanese Manga and American Graphic Novels respectivly, but how many of us knew that before hand? How many of us after seeing Watchman wanted to read the comic after seeing the film?

3. It might make a better version. The Godfather Trillegy of films are better then the book it was based off of, and the 80's Ninja Turtles Cartoon was more memorable then the comic it was based off of.
