Wait, Chris goes hand to hand with the tyrant and does pretty well? Sounds like a pretty shitty 'greatest weapon' to me. . .
Makes sense to me.

OT: I'm with the guys saying that it should just never have been a movie. But that's just because I'm all angsty about it.

Is it bad that I saw nothing wrong with that scene and didn't even think twice about it until it became somewhat of a meme?

Wrong. The best thing the first Resident Evil movie had going for it, which I should probably stress is a feature slowly deterirating as the movies progress, is that it had nothing to do with the games other then the fact that its villain was Umbrella and that it had zombies. See, when you try and work out the plot of the Resident Evil games, which are kind of shit (It still baffles me that I have to explain this to everyone) or the characters, same goes for them.

And with this plot you have the problem that the series started developing about three games in: you have to be intimatly familliar with the established plot and characters(established by the games, that is) and there has never been a good movie where you had to know the source material backwards in order to understand what ended up on screen.

Kind of, yeah.
My mind is kind of boggled at the fact that somebody thought that that wasn't ridiculously silly.

Did you see the George Romero commercial?:
Make the setting more realistic, update it, bring up the dates to a modern timeframe, add modern events in the background... yeah, it could work.

But the ridiculousness of the films doesn't. It's over the top, cheesy, and it doesn't care.

4) Make movie that fill a gap between the games. Like Degeneration. But something with some relevance, please. This series has so many loose ends you could make a series of movies with them. Of course this also has the issue of not being easy to sell to a casual movie-goer.
Resident Evil: Damnation is actually referenced a few times in RE6 and directly caused the events of RE6 to occur. Damnation Leon is much closer to RE6 Leon than Degeneration was to...any other Leon. Seriously, Degeneration Leon was just creepy as hell.
I haven't seen Damnation yet, I was so annoyed at Degeneration and how Leon was in it. I like Leon cocky and goofy with lines like "Your right hand comes off?".

Those CGI-movies are aimed at the audience that is already a fan of the game-series, though.
So the intended audience is far more niche than with the live-action movies.

Well, at that point so much silliness has gone down, and they are inside an active volcano after crashing there with an aeroplane that somehow didn't leave a scratch on them fighting a shirtless supervillain with worm-tentacles.

My suspension of disbelief kinda didn't even bother with some boulder-punching at that point...

Damnation Leon is more...well...realistic than he was in RE4. He still makes flippant comments during stressful situations, but most of the time he's deadly serious (Basically RE6 Leon). It's a bit apparent that his jokes are more of a coping mechanism than anything. On the other hand, he also tries to take on two T-103's with their power limiters removed with only a knife. So maybe he's just insane by this point in the series.

I'm in favour of it since I believe a game related film should really be game related (it's the reasons why I like Mortal Kombat and Silent Hill despite it was kind of like watching someone playing the game).

I have an idea for the resident evil movies.
Basically have the movie start out how the game starts except get rid of bravo team completely.
Have Chris, Barry, Wesker and Jill all make it into the mysterious mansion that isn't on any map. Barry and Wesker disappear when jill and chris investigate the gunshots.
A good bit of filler content would be needed obviously but lisa trevor should be in there somewhere.
It's later revealed that the gunshots were from Rebecca, an umbrella scientist that had just been assigned to the labs 2 days before the virus leaked.
When chris, jill and rebecca find Wesker rebecca remembers seeing him in the mansion moments before the virus leaked.
He reveals that he was the one who leaked the virus. Barry reveals himself as working for wesker, wesker releases a gas into the room and him and barry put gas masks on while the other 3 are knocked out. They come to and are unsure of how long they've been out, they sit in a small white room and they all have needle marks covering their arms. The door opens and barry bursts through and explains wesker was threatening his family but he's had enough, he reveals its been a month since they were knocked unconsious. Barry takes them to confront wesker but wesker smiles and reveals that he had been running tests on the three of them, trying to infect them but they have the same mysterious gene as wesker that gives them immunity. Barry however does not, he manages to infect barry and set the facility to explode. Barry mutates into a tyrant and they have to kill him. They find a helicopter before the facility blows and take it into the city. It would end with them happy the horror is over, but then they see the smokes and flames of racoon city, and it would end with a shot of zombies walking through Racoon City's streets.
....So yeah ive thought about this..ALOT.
