There is no excuse as to why someone who barely does anything helpful for the world is making enough money to blow it during one night of drinking. This everyone, is what is wrong with the human race right here.
What is with this bitterness? The public and sponsors fill up his wallet, he plays and spends it.

Your "barely anything helpful" is a lifestyle to a whole lot of people.

What I want to know is why doesn't he go to cheaper bars. Tastes just as well as the more expensive bars.

Normally I'm not one to complain about athlete salaries, but there's something that just doesn't sit right about someone spending 3.5x the average American's salary on alcohol, Red Bull, and bottled water

Point is, athletes in the USA get paid way too much in my opinion. It is rather rediculous.
Then don't watch sports on TV or go to sports games, because that's how they earned all that money. They wouldn't get those insane advertising dollars if people didn't go to the games and watch them on TV. What athletes are being paid for is not playing the game but being seen on the field wearing merchandise. The amounts they get paid are insignificant compared to the income they generate for clothing companies. And each clothing company hires thousands of workers all over the world, so is keeping people in employment. Put it in that perspective and what he's doing is almost a community service. He's keeping your economy running (pardon the pun) not just by keeping people in those companies in jobs, but also by pumping all that money into the local economies of bars, etc with all that spending.

The only thing that seems funny about that bill to me is I can't imagine being able to buy any vodka in the world and settling for Grey Goose. Jesus christ the stuff is only marginally better than Smirnoff, there's way better vodkas out there.

Man, at my local liquor store, a fifth of Maker's Mark costs around $48, and some DiSaronno costs around that. I could have bought gallons and gallons of my favorites, and still had enough left over to put a down payment on a home, or even just outright buy one.

I need to start getting good at basketball.

Why spend 170k on something you won't remember the next day?
Because according to some people it is fun? Sounds rather sad to me, it is like going to have the most amazing vacation spot and never leaving the hotel room.

I personally don't understand this, since I do not drink at all, so can someone please share me the wonders of being drunk. Because, it sounds rather sad that you can't have fun without alcohol.

Should we really expect more from a person who gets paid a gazillion dollars to throw an inflated rubber bladder through a metallic ring?

I doubt one of the Taiwanese surgeons I watched removing several softball sized tumors from a young boy's face and then painstakingly reconstructing it got paid the same amount as that bill.
Hail capitalism!
Seriously though, basketball is more than throwing a ball.
It's not precision work like surgery, but it requires more time invested in it to be any good.

It's a good thing though, that a lot of nba players are actively involved in different charities, from just donating to even reading stories to children.

I'm not trying to downgrade surgery here, but if a rich guy can't have fun for one night without being bombarded with passive-aggressive statements of jealousy, then.. wait, that's human nature.
Nevermind.

LeBron James makes about $18 million a year from his contract, give or take, and about 2-4 times that amount from advertisements. That's a lot of money to let go to waste. Good thing i'm not torn over how much he gets paid.

Hell, if people want to blame anything, don't blame LeBron, blame the system.

More money than sense. Cristal, while certainly a good wine, there are a couple of things I should point out:

1) I'm almost certain that the Cristal they were selling was not the actual vintages that would be worth that much money. Probably the rose circa 2000 or so which goes for about a grand a bottle.

2) The price in and of itself is actually an affront to alcohol in my opinion as it doesn't actually reflect the quality of the drink. There are producers out there that make far superior vintages and charge less. FAR SUPERIOR.

3) Didn't Jay-Z boycott Cristal? Why are these morons still purchasing it?

One of these days there will be an athlete, hopefully a black athlete, who will be intelligent and charming, witty and poised. He will possess grace and acumen that puts him beyond the ken of normal men. The kind of person that even a lily white waspy new englander from old money would aspire to be. He will be a thing of beauty and he will promptly be ignored by the masses for a retard in sagging pants who wears oversized novelty sun glasses.

Goddamit humanity. Goddamnit so much.

I am tending toward this being BS. I recognize the Patron- for those who don't know it's very good Tequila- but even a fancy restaurant wouldn't get away with that kind of pricing.

Some seems right- $9 a beer - but sorry, I don't offhand know of a bottle of Patron that goes for $1,450.

Ah hah thought so:

From the Patron web site:

Gran Patrón Platinum Tequila ? Super Smooth Blanco Tequila
Gran Patrón Platinum Tequila is triple distilled and aged to perfection. Gran Patrón Platinum Tequila arrives in a handmade (lead-free) crystal bottle with an etched label, in a velvet bag enclosed in an elegantly sculpted black box that easily converts to a display case. This is a super smooth Blanco tequila that?s claimed to be the smoothest sipping tequila ever produced. "TREAT YOURSELF"
ALL-INCLUSIVE PRICE: $269.00
(Includes Delivery)
QUANTITY

So, I cannot imagine that even a fancy restaurant could charge $1,450 for a $269 bottle.

I also looked up Cristal...and the expensive one is $890 a bottle.

My theory is that the person doing the bill screwed it up, and someone took a pic of it saying "wow, looks like we're being charged $171,000! Take a pic it makes us look like big spenders!"

I wonder how he afford it with the money he gave up to play ball with his "Squad" in Miami, because he wanted the ring, not the extra money

OT: This is just sad. I'm sure he didn't have ALL the drinks, but still, to spend that much on alcohol and some water, that's just bullshit. Hell, the fact that there are places that charge that much for drinks is just...well I'll admit it's American, but it's still shameful :p
