This is what shooting a gun looks like, according to Ubisoft...

Please tell me I'm the only one who finds this absurd. How is holding one hand up like you're driving a car and making jazz hands with the other hand remotely close to holding and firing a weapon? How is making those arbitrary motions more accessible and intuitive than pulling a button shaped like a damn trigger?

The whole of Microsoft's plan seems to be "squeeze Kinect into games that don't need it or benefit from it in any way." Awesome. Have fun wasting your development dollars, fools.

Again. Srsly?

Hmm..

Well, it's punching, not shooting. Don't be so pessimistic, they're on the right path.

Though I imagine kicking to throw grenades might become a bit tedious.

Eh, to be fair, Kinect won't recognize smaller hand gestures very well at all. The fist would show up on Kinect's sensors better allowing for a more solid aim, and the hand gesture to pull the trigger would also be registered fairly well.

It isn't about making it look like a gun being used, it's about being able to use it.

That being said, I wouldn't use that. I'd use the voice commands, but not that.

Yeah, it's stupid and I'll never use it. They can shoehorn it into any game they want but so long as you don't have to use the kinect then I really don't care.

Which game was this a part of? I only caught the back end of the Microsoft show.

Incidentally, does anyone know if there was anything about Bioshock: Infinite, Mass Effect 3, Saints Row 3 or Valve's upcoming games in there anywhere?

Maybe the Kinect isn't exact enough to handle finger movement so you have to look like your doing aerobics instead.

I doubt Kinect will be able to pick up small motions, such as pulling your finger to simulate a trigger pull.

That, there, is incredibly hard to understand what's going on though.

This is what shooting a gun in a shooting range on the Kinect looks like to Ubisoft.

The game is still played with a controller. Lighten up, d00d.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. They were showing off weapon customization(which looks damn good) and that you can test the guns on the range, whether or not the shooting mechanics for kinect will translate to anything else, you can certainly shoot on a range in the game using kinect.

As for the other information, The Escapist [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/conferences/e3_2011] will be covering quite a bit. As for video of the conference, IGN will definitely have recaps of the conference up if they don't already. Mass Effect 3 was showcased towards the beginning of the conference as well, showing off voice commands with kinect and how it can be used in dialogue. I have yet to see the others you mentioned, but supposedly Valve isn't going to be at E3 at all, so they say.

Oh if I was a developer I'd make you do the dumbest things just to see how far people are willing to go for that ultra casual experience.

The only non kinect titles they showed were CoDMW3, Halo CE HD, GoW3, Halo4.

They should ME with Kinect features.
