If she's any sort of actress (and I think she's a great actress) she will have done research into her character.RTSnab said:And hey, random question: Do you think Scarlett Johansson gives a shit who The Black Widow is when she played her in the avengers?
Oh, people with fake glasses exist, believe me, but I'd argue only a small part of them are "hipsters" (whatever that's supposed to mean), since glasses can actually look prettty good on people (Even though I'm actually short-sighted my glasses are a choice of fashion more than anything else: I'd be wearing contacts if I didn't think I look better with glasses, so I guess I'm a dirty hipster pig?)Katatori-kun said:Actually, I don't. Aside from one time in China I have never met anyone who wears fake glasses or pretended to be a nerd. I'm not convinced such a person exists, certainly not in numbers large enough to be worth complaining about on the Internet.Sean951 said:I don't like Hipster geeks/nerd. You know the type. A lot of the time lately I am coming across things like a jokey end of the world pic with Galactus raising up over the landscape and at least 90% of the men on the comments have no idea who it is. Another time I mentioned the Borg amongst some 'nerdy' (lol) guys and no one knew what I was on about. As yet I have seen no one call these guys out as 'fake' it just gets ignored. It's assumed because they are guys that they have some innate geekiness.
It's complete and utter bullshit.
wow, people actually like wearing glasses? I hate wearing mine, so annoying to wear them, i would wear contact lenses but id rather not put stuff in my eyes everyday, they already get flooded as it is.Simonism451 said:Oh, people with fake glasses exist, believe me, but I'd argue only a small part of them are "hipsters" (whatever that's supposed to mean), since glasses can actually look prettty good on people (Even though I'm actually short-sighted my glasses are a choice of fashion more than anything else: I'd be wearing contacts if I didn't think I look better with glasses, so I guess I'm a dirty hipster pig?)Katatori-kun said:Actually, I don't. I prefer glasses. I did a one week trial of contact lenses and came to hate them with an immense passion. I simply could not get used to the fucking things. I could (only just) tolerate the lens in my left eye, but the lens in my right eye drove me insane (on account of my right eye being weaker and needing a thicker lens). The only useful thing to come out of the whole experience was that I managed to learn how to intentionally poke myself in the eye (you have to suppress the urge to flinch in order to get the fuckin' things in). All in all I found contact lenses to be a whole lot of faffing about and a whole lot of discomfort for very little tangible benefit.felbot said:wow, people actually like wearing glasses? Indeed. I in fact have a picture of your problem.Moonlight Butterfly said:My problem with it is that women are assumed to be fake as default. Proust? PANSY. If you can't successfully decipher Finnegan's Wake and laugh smugly at all the clever references and word-plays that require you to know an immense part of of the said time-period and culture it was written in, you are nothing but a POSER.Simonism451 said:Yeah, please stop projecting your problems in high-school onto everything you like and then paint your associations as the only possible way to read a certain piece of entertainment; I'm sorry but no, Star Trek isn't about you not being able to get a girl to go out with you because you're basically the Socially Awkward Penguin. Also, fun fact right here, feelings of alienation and extreme awkwardness aren't nerd-exclusive, they're pretty much an essential part of being a teenager.el_kabong said:snip
PS: That said, I hate fake readers: Oh, so you've read Lord of the Rings and act like you're some sort of genius? Proust or GTFO!
This is the best explanation I've gotten so far.n00beffect said:Oh for the love of- This again? Okay peeps, I'm getting pretty goddamn sick of this nonsense, so here's a slightly simpler explanations of why gamers hate fake gamer/geek girls: They can't score with them. I know it's rather Freudian, but stick with me here, because this... this transcends simplicity. Men (or rather, boy) gamers hate fgg's because if they weren't fake, they think, they'd actually have a shot with them; but, since they're not really geek girls, and aren't really interested in their Azaroth fire staff of doom, or whatever, then there's no gurshdarn chance in the world they would ever sleep with them. That's what enrages little gamer boys, the fact that they can't impress those luscious boobies being flaunted in front of them, and hence can't get to grope them like they oh-so want to. Gamer girls on the other hand (I mean real ones) because most of them have inferiority complexes the size of f-ing Everest, feel threatened by the fgg and hence dislike them. Them luscious boobies make them feel even more inferior, and insecure.
Ergo, you peeps need to stop venting your sexual frustration because, really, it's pathetic. Watching you try and justify you're irrational hatred for luscious boobies that are wayyy out of your reach - it's just sad.
Well most basically one of Wolverine's supervillains. The surprising thing for me is that nothing in that post I made is particularly obscure to me. It just annoyed me that he made fun of that girl for not knowing when he doesn't actually read comics himself. I assume he knew of her from the film.Calibanbutcher said:Ok, who I'll bite:Moonlight Butterfly said:My problem with it is that women are assumed to be fake as default. Who is Lady Deathstrike?
Lady Snowblood of the marvel universe?

That is true, especially since reading comics is not a prerequisite for being a geek?Moonlight Butterfly said:Nothing just a bit of a blast form the pastCalibanbutcher said:What's wrong with Lady Snowblood?I don't have a problem with people who don't read comics.
