This Vita hate train is getting ridiculous.

Yeah, there's not much of a Vita hate train. Maybe a Vita hate unicycle and a Vita indifference bus.

I think the Wii U bares the brunt of the hate these days. The Vita people just don't really seem to give a damn about anymore.
This is about what I'm thinking. Also, it isn't so much "hate" as it is...well ya know that feeling when you're watching a race and you really don't want to watch and you're just waiting for something to crash to make watching said race worth it? Everyone is just...feeling...that.

I've never really seen a Vita "hate-train". More like a "Sony, fucking DO something with the Vita already. It's a good machine and you're wasting the potential" train. Which is true. It looks like a fine handheld. But the only reason I have at the moment to get one is Persona 4 Golden, an upgraded PS2 game. Sony seems to have been, well, ignoring it. Though that seems to have been changing as of late, what with them getting so many indie games on the thing which is cool.

Plus, Soul Sacrifice does look pretty cool...

What great games does it have? I have one and the games Ive bought for it include Persona 3 and 4, Silent hill: Book of memories, and recently soul sacrifice. Thats it.
Do you own Everybody's Golf? No. That game is better than anything you'll play for the 360 or PS3 :p There's also Gravity Rush. OH, and many like Uncharted. Wipeout 2048 could be mentioned as a solid great title.

But let me ask you this question also- how many more amazing titles were released for the 360 or PS3 in that space of time (just over a year)?

...and that is a hate train how? We'll have to degrade 'hate' to 'dislike' or 'am impartial to' and use a word like 'loathe' or 'despise' in place of 'hate' to convey our emotions soon enough. -_-

It's just expensive as far as I'm concerned. It's all very well to have compatibility with the PS3, but I ain't buying a game twice for it.

I want a Vita for it's PSP and PS2 library. Pretty badly, I've just never bought a handheld which is the only thing holding me back. Otherwise it's an incredibly tempting deal for me

for me it's a money issue, i don't buy a console unless i see myself buying double its price in games.
and the vita doesn't have that yet and i was disappointed by the quality of the shooters on the system.
that said i will probably get one for christmas, unless my laptop breaks down

Going to fail? I would say it HAS failed . But that's just me . And it's not even about price . I just really have 0 incentive to buy one . Not that it's a bad console . On paper . It's just that , the lack of games ,which is the main selling point of ANY console , because we have machines that can do everything else already , is stopping me for buying one . Call me of fashioned but i think the main focus of a console should be the games . And from what iv'e seen , games are not the main selling point .

Reminds me of this.

Anyway, like people are saying, it isn't really a hate train, more that people are indifferent to it at the moment. It doesn't have enough "Killer apps" for many people - including myself - to really care about it. The only ones I can think of are Persona 4 Golden and now only recently, Soul Sacrifice.

I would buy the Vita if I wanted a handheld particularly. But the only thing that ever convinced me to buy the gameboy, gameboy advance and DS was Pokemon. If the Vita had Monster Hunter I might consider it, but for most gaming I just use my PC or my PS3 and handhelds feel kind of redundant.

Well maybe if some more games that weren't just ports came out for it I might be interested in it.

It's a nice piece of tech but I have no reason to buy one, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Interesting seeing you butt-hurt, because when it comes to the Wii U or Nintendo you are on the oposite side of the spectrum.
Nice observation from my part isn't it? :D
I'm sorry, but I don't know what you're talking about. Your post seems only to serve to troll an otherwise interesting conversation. Either elaborate, or leave the forums. Thank you.

I wouldn't take it personally. People also seem to want the Wii U and the Ouya to fail as well. Some people are just bitter, not very nice or childish enough that they care if something they have no intention of buying does well or fails.

Personally the only thing stopping me getting the Vita is the price tag, considering there are only a couple of games that I want from it. If the price drops or more games that interest me come out I will probably pick one up.

Pattern recognition?

Does it kill for anyone to be optimistic for once?
What reason do you have for optimism?

Of course the Vita has issues separate memory unit and the price but overall the Vita has been getting great games and has been selling systems.
Not enough systems to realistically be considered a success. And that's kind of the problem with the whole "optimism" thing.

But people are so fixated on it failing, every console has a rocky start you can't expect every portable system to fly off the shells at its release.
No, not ever consoley has a rocky start. Sony, in fact, had two consoles with very solid starts in a row. The DS did better with fewer launch titles worth mentioning, and it's a portable.

I think the better question is "why make excuses for a handheld that really isn't doing all that well?"

Well, what people probably hate about the vita is the price. No portable system is going to sell well when it costs close three hundred USD and the lack of sales are hurting the value of multiplayer titles like Wipeout and Ragnarok Odyssey. I think it's best not to start claiming certain games are the best titles on the Vita at this point due to peoples differing tastes, though. Persona 4 The Golden may be a good game, but only to those that are into the old school RPG titles, for example. Gravity Rush is probably one of the unique, odd games on the system that I have a hard time finding an older analog to, probably because the game type it is a part of is so rarely developed (Unlike what people may have one believe, it really isn't comparable to Infamous, though someone who likes that game may like it).

I'm still waiting for a Vita with an HDMI out. Until then I'll stick with my PSP, which has a component out :p

Sony had the right idea with the Xperia Play, just a terrible execution. Of course, Sony thinking they can never ever execute something poorly just assumed there wasn't a market for a phone that was also a portable hand held with access to Sony's extensive catalogue, and thus went all out on a dedicated hand held. The Vita isn't bad per se, it's just got a weak line up of games and is really too big to carry around (ironically). The people with the disposable income and inclination to get the Vita are also the people with the disposable income to potentially buy a well done Xperia Play successor and have it all rolled into one.

Sony has a market there and they touched on it first time, they just need to get it right.

I don't think it's hatred. It's more like rampant indifference. There aren't many people who care about the Vita because most people who would want one have a smartphone, console and notebook already. There are only so many hours in the day to game so most people aren't that interested in buying another system. I think portable consoles like the Vita still make sense for children and teens because they tend to have a lot more free time and don't drive (so they need something for the car trip) but the market is definitely shrinking.

I wouldn't be too surprised if the Vita and 3DS (which is doing even worse) aren't the last generation of dedicated portable gaming systems. Smartphones are surging forward so quickly at this point that soon you'll be able to have the same level of experience on your phone.

And that's how I see it. It's not malice, it's just that most people's needs are already served by their existing devices.
