So I am one of the many who pre-ordered The Witcher 2 and today had it delivered whitch I thought as kind as a strange as I new it was set to the 17 of may on Steam but anyhow. I install it and such but when I try to start the Launcher I get "searching for updates" and then nothing, then I try Register and that seems to work fine until I hit get to the activate email part and get a 404 in my webbrowser. It ain't until I try to start the game from the main EXE (inside the BIN folder) that I get "This game can not be started until the 17 of May 2011" and this pisses me off. Why you might ask, because why send out a game and then let your customers wait with it for a week in hand ? And also the part that it ain't written out over the whole damn startup sequence. No, you have to look for it.

Now I might be raving a bit since this just happend to me and such, but does anyone else have this experince with the Witcher 2 ?

You get to install it now, but you don't get to play it until the 17th. Steam can be a dick sometimes.

You bought it somewhere other than GOG? That's a bit strange don't you think?

Yes, I bought it of a media retailer since I have like to have a CD-copy. The point is not that I don't get the play it, I can see that. The problem is that you have to go out of your way to look for it when just instead they could have the autorun say the same thing.

Basically, you got trolled by the retailer you bought from. They broke the street date and the developer put that in place to help prevent some form of piracy, which I'd imagine that will be worked around in a matter of hours after obtaining the disk, if not less.

Not much else you can do here. Just have to wait it out.
