He compared it to a cornered and, desperate dog (or something similar) and the past couple of weeks have shown that he was absolutely right. It seems like Microsoft are running back and forth trying to put out fires...but they don't realize that they are, in fact, a Charizard and their wildly flailing tail keeps on setting things on fire (mostly bridges though).
Unless the dummy has a body temp and a pulse the kinect will demand you show yourself.Ed130 said:I can see lots of people doing this:
1) Turn on Xbox.
2) Unplug Xbox from TV.

I suppose MS could use the Kinect they've shoved down everyone's throats to see whether people are still in the room, but that would be too Orwellian even for...
A additional step is required.
3) Create dummy to fool Kinect using pillows and old clothes (bonus points if a Guy Fawkes mask is used as the face).
How so? Almost half of the xbone's *GB of RAM is taken up by it's OS straight out of the gate and if you want more technical answers you can check the tech spec review of both systems here.A Weakgeek said:They are pretty much equally powerful. I don't really see how your link proves your point. The comparison shows the ps3 has marginally better cpu, and that the type of RAM it uses is slightly faster. (Can't say anything about your claim about the OS and ram, since it wasnt mentioned.)Miss G. said:How so? Pretty much this, unless they're going to pop up adverts during gameplay (such as seeing a billboard for the latest product in insert GTA Clone here 75 the 8th Generation), it's entirely ignorable.Z of the Na said:...getting just a bit petty now, guys.
Turn on your Xbox, put in the game disc, play the game. That's all you have to do. Don't even worry about ads.
[sub]There's even a preference in the system settings that lets you skip the Dashboard entirely when a disc is in the tray. :/[/sub]
They both have 8GB of RAM but the box IS running Windows 8 for all those non-gaming functions (that may not be in this article but you have know its part of the damned system by now and you have to take that into account) which automatically means less power is going to gaming, while the PS4 doesn't come with that setback. In that regard buying an xbone is like buying a variety pack that only comes with one thing that I actually like (games) vs buying a PS4 which is like outright buying a pack of my favorite thing (more games).A Weakgeek said:I don't really see how your link proves your point. My point is, compared to the current gen, those differences are trivial at best. It's literally going to come down to the optimization done by the devs making exclusives, since multiplatform titles are mostlikely going to look and run pretty much identically. (Which wasn't the case for current gen, because PS3 had weird ass architecture)

Yeah that's something MS didn't think about, in the same way people don't want hanna montana on their list they won't want this advertisement crap because everyone will know they are a tool. Their incentive is more of a deterrent lol.OlasDAlmighty said:Isn't the whole point of achievements supposed to be that they're something we're happy or proud to have accomplished? Now I'll have something to brag to my friends about.
I completely agree tool is the perfect word to describe anyone who buys a xbone. I'm one of those people that people jump on for drawing the line in the sand early (dashboard ads + paying online was a massive reason I didn't get 360) but they don't realize things will get worse and worse, so even if you are okay with how it is now I can guarantee you won't be okay with how it ends and since you aren't drawing a line and you are attacking me for drawing a line you are helping them reach that horrible end result which makes you a tool. Even if there are other reasons you want to buy the console for and you just don't mind this horrible crap at least admit it's horrible crap don't go around defending it.FieryTrainwreck said:Because if enough people buy this fucking thing, all of their bullshit might just gain enough traction to one day become ubiquitous?Guy from the 80 said:I have to laugh at kneejerk commets like this. Why do you invest so much emotions when this console is not for you? You just come off as really bitter.
Why do so many think consumer transactions are some sort of one-on-one exchange that doesn't affect anyone else? What you buy influences the market place. What you're willing to accept, and which consumer rights you're willing to jettison, may very well end up affecting me and my choices in the market place. For this reason, I have every right to point at someone supporting Xbone and say "thank you for contributing to the worsening state of the industry, fuckwit".
Edit: and as for the disdain for my use of the term "tool", the pervading definition of the word, as an insult: "One who lacks the mental capacity to know he is being used." I think that very accurately describes a person who willingly installs an advertising machine in his/her home when a perfectly comparable (and far less offensive) equivalent exists.
There's no way anyone can seriously downplay 1.2 Tflops vs 1.8, the 50% more raw graphical horsepower the PS4 has is fucking huge. Much larger gap between the two new systems than the previous generation, and this is without accounting for OS resources. The RAM situation cannot really be marginalised either.Miss G. said:How so? Yeah, but Bungie are doing Destiny and it seems very Halo-inspired and I don't think I've heard of new Halo games being developed.FieryTrainwreck said:MS still owns Halo, so someone is definitely working on the next installment for Xbone. Maybe the guys who did the last one? I honestly have no idea who, but it is undoubtedly on the way.Vrach said:Am I wrong or are there no more Halo games and the next closest thing is Destiny... which is coming out on the PS4?
A Weekgeek didn't seem to agree. That's why I put the link to the current gen specs for them to see and they still replied to my post like they seriously didn't know about the Windows 8 nonsense you and I are talking about while acting like I even mentioned the PS3 anywhere in my first post.GoaThief said:There's no way anyone can seriously downplay 1.2 Tflops vs 1.8, the 50% more raw graphical horsepower the PS4 has is fucking huge. WHERE IS THE NEAREST JEHOVAH WITNESS?!?
OT: Eh, this really won't have that big an effect in the grand scheme of things. Both the people who were going to buy an XBOX one are such rabid fanboys that even if it released live hornets into their houses, they'd buy it anyway.
