If you want to read an article about it you can see it right here, [http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2014/03/07/gemma-worrall-barraco-barner_n_4918837.html] but basically a beautician from England tweeted "If barraco barner is our president why is he getting involved with Russia, scary" and now she's being called a first-class idiot the world over.

Thoughts?

Why should we care what a beautician from England thinks about our President, when I don't even care what our president thinks about me?

Welp, the fickle finger of Internet fame has picked her out.

Looking at her Twitter account, she seems to be handling it well. There's not a whole lot left to say. She got a piece of trivia almost incomprehensibly wrong. And yeah. It's just as amazing how quickly the Internet can jump on this kind of thing.

Trivia?

I think the current president of the US and what he is up to is much more than trivia.

I wonder how likely is the initial tweet was a joke. It is the internet after all and Poe's Law is in effect. Furthermore, I also like to know why are we supposed to care.

We live in a world were gross levels of idiocy are celebrated, were people who say and do stupid things are celebrated instead of being ridiculed for the idiots they are. The issue though is not that this person said such a stupid thing it is the general reaction to it. All it needed is one person to tell her what she said was stupid, correct her and move on but instead everyone knows about it, everyone has an opinion about it and someone who at best should have been taken aside and corrected and at worst told to just stop acting the fool is now instead a minor internet celebrity, all for being a total and utter moron.

I don't understand why this is news. A random person said something stupid on the internet. This happens about a billion times a day.

Meh, we got our own brainless actress in this country, she made an equally stupid comment and she took it incredibly well and it even became a running gag for her to comment some pretty stupid stuff over the years.

The first thing I thought when I read the tweet was "This sounds like a joke someone would make on a forum."

God, I wish I was as immune to that stuff as she seems to be. That's not the kind of attention I'd be very happy-go-lucky about receiving at all.

She's 20 I find it hilarious that, considering she was in school within the last 8 years, that she's never come across Barack Obama's name written before. I guess she was too busy touching up her makeup every 3 seconds. Beauticians, lol.

Captcha: oh sigh

Sigh, indeed.

I love it, Americans do something like this "Lol, Stupid 'Mericans". Someone from Europe does it "Must be a joke," or, "Stupid people, it happens".

Which is why she's a beautician and not a journalist. Which is fine. We don't need smart beauticians. But while it's possible the autocorrect had a hand in it, I don't know how you get Barraco from Barack without going for barracks first.

I see no cause for offense here. I love Twitter and the way idiots unveil themselves through it.

My shattered faith in humanity has taken yet another hit...because this is what makes news these days. A random nobody saying something somewhere.
Worse, her photos got published all over the articles: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2575436/Dumb-Britain-Beautician-laughs-Twitter-storm-mistakenly-spelling-Barack-Obama-Barraco-Barner-sparks-inevitable-parody-accounts.html

But I guess that's what people get for uploading their photos for open access on social networking sites.

In any case, I'm sorry for accusing Escapist for declining news standards. Sites like DailyMail and Mirror seemed to have reached whole new lows.

That Barraco Barner better be careful dealing with that Emir Vlad Pootin.

But anyway, on a scale of 1 to 10 of Internet stupidity, this barely moves the needle above a 3. Let's save the ridicule for the next person who Tweets a picture of themselves committing a crime or something.

I don't get it. Why is the is woman famous just for misspelling the president's name while the majority of YouTube commenters who more or less do the same thing, perhaps worse, still hang around in obscurity?
