What kind of person sits there and watches children's shows looking for this kinda stuff? Someone with no life apparently.

What I'm asking is: do you agree with the statement that Thomas is an evil hate-spewing machine of darkness or are they just looking to much into it?
Look at it this way.

Thomas lives on an island called Sodor. On this island is a total of 65 vehicles, most of them trains.

The island of Sodor is approximately 62 miles by 51 miles.

Now, even ignoring the strange resemblance of the Sodor sign, which in no way resembles anything Godwinesque, isn't that an AWFUL lot of trains for a community of about 80,000 people (Given it's based around the Isle of Man)?

They are looking way too much into this. Also, Leave what I have left of my childhood alone! I loved Thomas the Tank engine and the people need to realize that they're stories and shows for children.

Yeah, every time I watched Thomas as a kid, I felt oppressed because I'm worth less than a man.

Dear lord, next they'll tell us that Sesame Street is secretly racist because Mr Hooper is black and apart of the working class while the Bourgeoisie (Big Bird and Burt and Ernie) laugh in his face.

You do know that Oscar was originally orange, but he was made green due to "changes". In Mexico he's brown, while he's still orange in Israel...coincidence?

there is a lot of this sort of thing, i had a Latin American History class where we watched some Disney animated movie set in Latin America, called The Three Caballeros., then we read this article that made all these ridiculous claims about neo-colonialism. people have a habit of reading way to much into things.(off topic rant) t But my teacher was a hardline communist so i didn't find it to surprising. He at one point said Cuba was better than the US because it has free healthcare, because being able to freely leave the country and not be imprisoned for political views doesn't matter apparently. (/off topic rant)

I grew up on Tomas...
No, I think people are looking far into this sorta of thing. Can't their be any child innocence anymore? Why does everything have to be scrutinized under a microscope.

They're trains; they're not supposed to show initiative.

Otherwise they literally get derailed.

er...the report is from the 'Daily Mail', guys. The same people who, a few years ago, said that a school banned Christmas, whereas what the school actually did was advise students not to bring and distribute Christmas cards in school so they wouldn't waste time in class. After the school made it perfectly clear to the 'Daily Mail' that this is what they did, the 'Daily Mail' changed the headline to "School bans Christmas for fear of offending Muslims!"

Seriously, guys, ignore the report. It's a fuss over nothing!!!!

I used to love this show when I was like, 3 or 4 years old. I didn't end up becoming sexist or a Fascist. Anyone who watches children's shows looking for subliminal messages is an idiot. Well, okay my sister looks for subliminal messages in children's shows, but she doesn't take it seriously. I guess I should be saying, you're an idiot if you speak out against children's shows because of "subliminal messages."

My god! I never knew! Why don't they just drap the trains in swastikas and have them pull up to the local death camps - if the creators are willing to show such blatent inhumanity and fascist views in a childs program! - And here i was thinking Thomas was just a simple talking train!

Oh, this story can go die somewhere else. This is what I hate about the Times and Fox News. Same company.
I loved Thomas the Tank Engine when I grew up, and I'm about as liberal as they come. It was my second favourite to Fireman Sam, except the face creeped me out a bit. Considering the Times is the most right wing "news"paper in the UK, it's very much a case of the pot and the kettle. This story makes me angry. You know the smurfs taught communism too?
Crazy solution. Make all kids watch Thomas and Smurfs. Then they can make up their own mind about politics without even noticing it. Bang. Out of the park.
