This might more apply to people who do not spend money in the Team Fortress 2 Mann Co. Store despite being given huge stacks of crates from the random drop system, but whatever. I thought this thread would at least be worth a look.

Take a glance at your Team Fortress 2 backpack. Now, count how many unopened crates you have received from your many hours of game-playing, and multiply that by the price of a single Mann Co. Supply Key. In my case, $2.49.

If you were to spend the required amount of money to open all of your crates, IE, purchase enough keys to open all your crates, what would your total come out to?

As for me?

$151.89

[small]I have 61 crates.[/small]

EDIT: This link might help people look at their backpacks without actually booting the game.

I have like, 3 crates. So... like $7.50(I rounded up).

Not that I care. I just delete crates as they come. Wastes of spaces for me. Not sure why I still have 3 though...

I opened every one I got. That was only like... three, though.

I should start playing that game again some time. Back Ops has me over its knee lately.

Nothing, I delete them when I get them. Bought a key once just to see what the deal was and HOORAY, I PAID $2.50 FOR AN EXACT DUPLICATE OF AN ITEM I'D JUST CRAFTED. Wasn't happy.

I have a single crate but can't seem to discover how much it'd cost me...

Is buying keys the only way to open the crates? I play the game in bursts and haven't played in a while. Also, if you check my backpack (coldfrog for the steam name) you'll see I have very few items.

I have six or seven crates, and haven't bothered to even try to open them. Why am I going to bother?

Also, hi Z! We've played together before, I think (handle on Steam is gamingCaffeinator)

too lazy to open TF2 right now, but I'd be shocked if I had less than 10 right now. Given that I paid as little as $2.50 for some of my friends to play TF2, $25 seems like an amazing rip-off.

I just wait until I have eight crates and trade them away for one weapon. Believe it or not, there are people out there who collect crates and will pounce on such an offer.

Also, Valve stated a little while back that they're going to look into alternatives for people who don't want to buy keys.

I really wanted an unusual hat which can only be grabbed from those crates. opened more than I should of but now I got 2 unusuals.

although I could have spent that money on food and beer and hockey skates (we canadians are a simple folk).

the problem with the crates is valve won't drop keys randomly so for the majority of the players the crates are completely useless. and the drop rates for the crates themselves are ridiculous, it's no wonder people end up with 60 something crates.

I try to trade any I get for scrap or just random weapons I can craft. I did get an unusual from the xmas key that everyone got though which was very welcomed!

Back on topic, I'd prob have got like a couple dozen, so that would amount to a lot of cash, makes me wonder why we call them "micro"-transactions >.<!

The only crate I ever opened had a hat in it.

Like many others I delete every crate I get. It's not much of a bother, since the prompt allows me to throw any unwanted items straight into the trash can as soon as I ge tthem.

The only crate I ever opened (with the free Christmas Key) had the Gunboats in it. I already had two pairs. I was not amused, and now I delete every crate I get.

5 crates at present, I haven't played in a while so I haven't deleted/untrucked them on anyone else yet. I bought a key once, I got a... backscratcher or something.
