Red Faction: Guerilla.

Over the game you can get car bombs. So I drove my car right through a EDF blockade and into a building that needed to be destroyed. Sirens start to wail and I hear soldiers gathering outside the building. I jumped out the car and planted a few mines. I break out my sledge hammer and break open a wall allowing me to escape. I pull out my assult rifle and detonate the mines and car bomb. A blinding light stems from the building, rubble and soldiers fly through the air. I hide behind a wall and lean out to fire upon some soldiers, dropping three of them. More of them pull up in a transport. I throw a mine at the group of EDF emerging from the transport and detonate it. I emerge from behind the wall and shoot the gunner on top of the transport just befor I commondeer it and ride out of the complex.

Sorry for the wall of text but I felt this would make it more real.

Had a moment like that on Bad Company 2's multiplayer yesterday, in that fall level, Rush.

Remember the level in CoD4 in which you invade that Arab city? Choppers flying in everywhere, you drop off and secure the objective. Yeah it was exactly like that, only with Black Hawks instead of Chinooks.

It was just pure awesome. 2 Black Hawks loaded with people flying towards the M-COM stations, straffing around for a short while, landing, dropping everyone off and destroying the stations in 1 swift move. Utter brilliance, I really felt like I was waging war, instead of those small-scale deathmatches in MW2.

Of course, a truckload of games have these moments for me.

It's not a rare feat, it's not a hard feat, but I always feel like the bloody hero when I tank bosses in WoW.

I'm not that hard to please.

I'm left as the lone Medic on a tight 6v6 Warpath map. What gaming devil possessed me that day is still unknown but I managed to take the four players tailing me singlehandedly, two of them being pyros to boot.

My first nuke. The ending(s) for AVP. As fan pleasing goes, this takes the cake.

I was just playing battlefied BC2 this morning.

Panama canal; I'm a Recon with a GOL scout sniper magnum. They got the sound in this game perfect; I almost feel as though I'm in this dingy warehouse, hidden among the rubble, in the thirty degree heat, the sounds of battle echoing through the buildings shattered form.

In the distance, a lone rifleman catches my eye, running between cover. I judge the distance to compensate for bullet drop, and I judge his speed to give some lead as he sprints. The bullet takes just under a second (which, in the context of bullets, seems like an age) to cover the distance. Then, with a silent flap of the arms, the distant silhouette collapses into the dust.

I crank the bolt on my rifle and move out.

That was this mornings standout moment.

PlanetSide, oh how I miss thee.

There have been other moments of utter immersion since then, but PlanetSide was definately the first.

Piloting a Galaxy Dropship for an Outfit running 'black' ops (knocking out generators on enemy facilities, and draining power from other bases to turn them neutral - making them vulnerable to capture). Routine base drain was going on, when we got discovered by an enemy Platoon who had bound to the base to regroup (was an Armoured Assault [Tank] platoon regrouping to pull out more heavy tanks).

Despite being able to respawn elsewhere, grab a new Galaxy and fly to a new target the squad I was with had been so sucked into the immersion that they fought a bloody retreat out the base at which point I afterburned into a reckless landing right by the back door. For non-PS players, Galaxy's are huge and originally had massive problems of exploding when landing on anything that wasn't perfectly flat. Everyone piled in to the Galaxy which was now being hammered by the bases automated turrets, and burned out over the ocean as enemy tanks started to roll out the main gate.

Cinematic, awesome... until the point where the Squad Leader said "Alright guys, recall to Sanc [your empires main base], we're heading to Ish [another continent] to drain there". So after all that, we may as well have let them kill us and just respawned at the Sanc - it would have been quicker...

Playing team fortress today, I was playing engineer and trying to set up base to get a teleporter and sentry up for my team. Someone saw me and said "our engineer is setting up, lets help him out guys!" and a few soldiers watched the corner while a medic backed them up. If you've played an online game, good teamwork is pretty hard to come by. We rolled them easily and I felt like a small cog in a great machine of death. Awesome...

Playing though the final mission in Mass Effect 2, everything about it really, the scene where you take control of Joker running through the ship, the tender scene where Shepard gazes at Ashley's picture before leaving (in my case anyway) and of course the epic battle on the ship and then the storming of the collector base. It was great seeing all those upgrades in action and being on the edge of my seat in every scene, and frankly even though it took a LOT of work to get there, once I had passed the suicide mission without losing a single squadmate... I was on the top of the freaking world.

Mass Effect 3, here I come!!

Every fucking teamwork moment in Teamfortress 2, which is nearly always.

I love being the medic that helped take down a sentry gun encampment, or that spy that stopped the cart from moving just before it was in its final push.
You and me both. I remember probably the best moment of "I kick ass" when during a game in Dustbowl, we got like three spontaneous Ubercharges to push on the final point, me being and Ubered Soldier was able to kill two guys and take out a Sentry Gun, whereas we all quickly gained the last base while the other team, most of which dead and waiting to respawn, were going "Nnooooooo!" over chat.

Any battlefield game where teammates are working together.

Too many in Bad Company 2 to pick one out...

In Fire Emblem.
Where YOU the player was actually referred to as a character and helped with the story.
Still makes me feel like a Master Strategist.
Heh, I wish they did that with more of the Fire Emblem games.

Also, the first Nod level with the Scrin in C&C 3. Falling back from the inevitable onslaught, scrambling to get reinforcements in, making the decision to send one of my nuke trucks into the middle of the wave to blow up a chunk... I honestly felt like a part of the game. It was eerie.

I'd group port one of my various level 50 brutes (usually Static Kitty Litter, kudos if you know me) and 7 other players on my team into a room with about 300 level 52 lieutenant freakshow foes (+ about 150 ambush spawns and 50 bosses) on a player made mission. I'd watch the players all die in about 5 seconds from over aggro, then group port around to gather up their bodies, and go to town on them for about 20 minutes. It was just a hilarious WTF moment I've put a lot of gamers into. Usually they made it a contest to see who could level rez and stay up the longest before dying right back again.

...Or getting ubered to the top of the scoreboard with your new medic buddy. Best 3 rounds ever.
