I'm not a fan of 4chan, in fact I tell people who ask me what it is that is the intellectual wasteland of the internet where civilization goes to die. However 4chan is like most predators, leave it the fuck alone and it will ignore you.

These lulzc**ts just seem to want to ruin everyone's fun for no good reason other than to be the unlikable friendless rejects they are.

I pray they misstep and incur the unending rage of Anon, I really do and if Jester has gotten himself a taste for fat, sweaty, unwashed basement troll then they are somewhat fucked.

Also fun to mention I own an authenticator on WoW so erm... no haha

I was on the escapist before it happend, there were threads about how Lulzsec responded to our criticism (in a butthurt way i may add) and said that we were next, i think Admins caught wind of this and put the site down for a few hours.
Nah. There was a thank you thread posted here in OT not long after the site came back up wherein one of the tech guys (name escapes me, apologies) posted about black-holing lots of bots...If you go back a few pages you might be able to find it. It was a DDOS attack.

Good job on that.
If they've scared us to a point where we can't openly talk about what we want, then they have accomplished far more then they should have.

I can't remember the exact name, but I beleive the original line goes something like "He had it coming, He only had himself to blame. If you'd have been there, If you'd have seen it, I bet that you'd have done the same"

OT: I think these guys have bitten off a little more than they can chew with /b/, as far as I'm aware /b/ is where most of Anon go to chill. Attack /b/ and you attack them which is not something to be taken lightly, or at least is something that most of /b/ won't take lightly
Cell Block Tango from Chicago.

Love that song, although a little long.

Related to this I would like to ask you a question:

I downloaded the file put up by LulzSec and tried to log in a few accounts. I succeeded twice. I then changed the account's password and sent it to the account owners' alternative email addresses so they could retrieve their accounts. This way, I figured, nobody would be able to abuse their accounts any longer (which, from what I could tell from my brief time logged in, was already happening).

So, did I do the right thing or was I already wrong logging in other people's accounts?

I doubt they care what we think. We got DDOS'd after someone called in and requested it, like all of their attacks like it. If they DID care, I wouldn't give a care anyway because they can hack all they want..but they won't scare us away from saying whatever we please.

OT: From what I can tell I'm pretty sure they just hacked 4chan and their followers downloaded the stolen information and plugged it into things like twitter, WoW and facebook. It really only effects people who have the same username and password for everything.

No worries. They pissed off the Jester, and now they're going down.
whos the jester?
OT: Meh these guys are funny to watch
The Jester is an ex military hacker who brings down jihadist recruitment websites. Apparently, lulzsec decided to DDOS CIA.gov, and Jester didn't take too kindly to that.
Same dude that went after WBC? I think he's a hero among hackers.

Also where is Anonymous when all this is happening?
That is an interesting story on its own. I took the liberty of visiting Anonymous on Facebook, and messaging one of the users who appeared to be a member of Anonymous. He said he had no problem with them, for two reasons. One, "they expose people and companies for what they are." And two, their attacks expose a website's weakness so they can fix it in the future.

In spite of that, it still makes very little sense to me because they are hacking anyone on their Twitter feed who goes on and criticizes them, which goes against Anonymous's policy of defending free speech. Plus, at least Anonymous has standards. They only go after people who provoke them. They don't attack innocent users for the hell of it--that is why they halted their attack on the PSN (I'm talking the very first one, before LulzSec got involved).

So we can only hope Jester can handle this, or Anonymous has a change of heart. These guys are just online bullies, punching random people in the face because they can.
Exposing weaknesses in a companies protection of information is a good thing, and it's a noble cause, in its own way. But punishing the people who have no idea of these weaknesses and leaving them open for people to ruin aspects of their lives is not the way to do it, and unfortunately makes them no better than regular criminal hackers doing it for retarded enjoyment.

They can voice this supposed ulterior motive all they want, but at the end of the day they're the same angry nerds doing it for no real reason. And they deserve to be imprisoned.

I mean, that's the only way people learn. on the ethical spectrum, as long as you didn't try and find out information about them that they hadn't already made public, I'm pretty sure your fine, though, if someone got into that account once, that could mean that they may have already gotten access to either their email or possibly the answer to a security question to let them in, so I'm not sure how much good it does if they don't make a few more security changes themselves

Thankfully, nothing of mine was in the list at the moment. Still going to keep an eye on stuff, I try to be safe, different passwords/logins/emails for different things, but you never know.

Nah, it was LulzSecs butthurt. They tweeted a link to our forum along with some whinging, then started to DDoS lol.

P.S. I'm with you on saying whatever we please on our forums.

A small change to a line from Chicago during the Cell Block Tango.

OT: I am very curious as to what this "Jester" is going to be doing.

Okay, I don't actually care if my facebook gets hacked, I would be kinda annoyed if my twitter did though.

This is getting out of hand. I mean, the starting stuff that LulzSec did in regards to the massive holes in Sony's security did help but now they are just crapping on everyone's biscuits. This dumbass justification of 'for the lulz' and this secondary cardboard shield of 'We are exposing security flaws' just doesn't cut it. You aren't helping anyone, you aren't amusing anyone but yourself and this is all going to end up in a self destructive hacker war. So just quit it. You've made your point and had your fun, now leave us the rest of us in peace.

Meh, with thread titles like that you don't need to ***** when the Escapist gets DDoS'd again. I mean do we really need to call them names and insult them all the time? I thought this forum was over-12 only!

So... they are rewarding people? Or do I get something wrong here?

Is it just me or are the angry, angry for a reason. Honestly, if they will continue doing this not only the U.S army will try to take them down, maybe the Anonymous them selfs will try to get rid of them.

I think most members of Anonymous are gamers or at least social guys, I won't be surprised if there is some on this very threat, this might be the last straw.

From what I saw on the twitter feed, the 14-15 isn't the number of girls, but their ages, so yea, not exactly a reward.

They're actually doing more than just hacking facebook accounts. They released a .txt file with 62,000 email+password combinations. You guys might want to check the list and make sure your information isn't on it.
I saw it but then it asked me to download it...I dont download anything with a lulz sticker:p
I downloaded it. It isn't a virus. :x

Luckily, my email isn't on that list. It would be horribad if it was. At least for me.

Then again, I'm not a part of 4chan, so I'd have no reason to be on the list. :x
