Well it is YouTube so what did you expect?
*hrk* My thoughts exactly. You only get positive comments on wholesome, family friendly videos (sic).

Maybe the guy was venting some fury 'cos he wasn't raptured. *shrug*

*meh* most of the Americans on here take no issue with Brits, and what Americans I know IRL, are awesome company.

Off topic but does England have as many America haters as the internet makes it seem? Because whenever I'm on the interwebz I feel like everyone and their mother's cat hates America. Makes it awkward to be a proud American...
You'll find that genuine Yankee-haters are difficult to come by. Yank-bashing as a joke is a very European thing to do, but given the context that we're talking about, none of it is serious.

As an Englishman who likes his Tea, I shall tell you that no one hates the English more than the English.

Never, ever, ever lump us in with wastes of oxygen like that tool.

Trust me, the only reason a lot of people out of the country hate Americans is because over here, the worst people are just the loudest.

Also, it's kind of the "rule of dealing with trolls". They aren't stepping in to correct him because he's a waste of everyone's time.
Yeah, well, the loudest people over here are the twats as well. Thats not a country thing its the human condition.

Heres a general rule for you. People criticising an entire country have never been there and probably in fact have never even left their own.

That's refreshing to hear, then we aren't so different after all. At least from what I've seen in my part of America, I certainly don't represent America, nor does Massachusetts... That's probably a good thing we are called Massholes for a reason...

Historical side-line:
The wig-wearing thing could relate to officers, but I don't think regular soldier wore them. It seems a weird point though as I think some of the American hierarchy wore wigs too (I know George Washington didn't).

The choice of red for the red-coats may seem weird, but it was chosen at a time when musket smoke obscured most battlefields and dyes tended to fade in colour...

By the way, redcoat soldiers didn't wear white wigs. The hair was grown long, queued and powdered white. It was done just to look neat and impressive, but it was a haven for lice, which is why officers shaved their heads and bought wigs to wear, so they could take them off to wash them.
Yep, I learned that from reading Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe novels haha.

The choice of red cloth stems back to the formation of the New Model Army in 1645 during our Civil War, because red dye was pretty cheap compared to other colours.

OT: I'm not really too bothered what Americans think of us, it would be impossible to try and conquer every misconception about every country, so there's little point in getting worked up over it, you can't really beat stupidity.

We don't hate America at all, we do get a little tired of americans thinking that america is the centre of the universe though (which often makes you guys the butt of jokes). Though thats understandable I guess when you have to large oceans either side.
It shocks on a daily basis how many American's actually think we are the center of the world that I encounter... I find it odd considering the social and economic situation most of the US is in.

The internet is an easy forum for people too stupid to get their idiotic opinions heard elsewhere, so the trolls have the loudest voices. Im a proud Englishman. I positively adore Americans, and it really makes me annoyed when i see a trolling Brit say foolish things about America on youtube. Its just as offensive as reading it the other way around. Its..Really best not to feed the trolls, as often as people have said it.

By the way, redcoat soldiers didn't wear white wigs. The hair was grown long, queued and powdered white. It was done just to look neat and impressive, but it was a haven for lice, which is why officers shaved their heads and bought wigs to wear, so they could take them off to wash them.
Is correct.

And someone else said, no one hates the English as much as the English...or maybe the Scots.
But yeah, we rip into everyone, including ourselves, for humour, self deprecation is a huge part of our humour.

As for crude Americans, yeah there's a lot of vocal ones but most I actually know are genuinely nice people and not at all different (except religion, avoid religion around Americans, be they atheist or theist it's just a warzone). It's just that the douches are extremely vocal. Same for us, the worst are always the loudest.

Hmmm... perhaps he meant to direct that at the French, man, they eat a lot of garlic (or at least the French people I know do).

Edited for truth. Yah, we love taking the piss out of our 'political correctness', 'health and safety', the diet, the Duke of Edinburgh & the Government (regardless of who it actually is... though I think everyone does that). Do the Scots hate us that much? I thought the Oirish hated us more...

First of all, no, we do not all think that way. Well, some of us do, but they're morons.
Secondly, you really can't say "what do Americans think about X?". There are 300 million of us, and we don't all get together every morning and decide on what our collective beliefs are. There are some people on all sides of the issue, and any sweeping generalizations are completely incorrect.

Paying serious attention to youtube comments is pretty silly. There's no lower form of human communication.

But to the brits I have a very serious question. What do you call an American "biscuit"?

Wait... the british troops don't wear wigs in battle? THEN HOW DO THEY PROTECT THEIR HEADS? You can't explain that!

Same here. All I ever hear of Americans are the loud inbred fucks over Xbox Live or whatever, but I wouldn't say that all Americans are like that, because there are plenty of those in England as well, and I do try my best not to generalise here... :L

Idiots are everywhere, but so are reasonable folk, even if the ratio isn't quite as balanced as we'd like.

Here was me thinking that England and America were getting on like a house on fire these days... and then I read this comment on a YouTube video from a so called 'Proud' American "***** shut up! Now maybe this is me being ignorant as I live in here, but is this what you (by you I mean people reading this thread who are American) really think of us? Or just some dipshit troll on a YouTube video.

There were also a lot more comments similar to his and not a lot of Americans stepping in to correct him...
youtube is the key word. the only place less logical than the comment on youtube are /b/ threads.

and no, im from the "intolerant" *rolls eyes* southern united states and i think Brits are people who try and go on with their lives as normally as every other person in the western world, sure some things yall do are weird (royal wedding hats) but from the english people that i know, your just the same as everyone else. and please dont think that all Americans think like that commenter. we dont.

Timing-wise, is this anything to do with Obama visiting old Blighty?

Well I love you guys, (except when you're young. A prepubescent English accent is really hard on my hearing. But you guys make up for it by obtaining really sexy deep male voices.)

Yeah, that's a last ditch effort from a troll. Take my word for it. I decided to take on all the trolls on Youtube. It's been a long and bloody fight, and the results haven't been to gravy.

But I have gained lots of research. And that's a troll.
