So... I'm not good at building and don't know anyone who's willing to do it for me, I need to buy. I'd like to keep it around $1500 Canadian, and have it be something I"ll just need to stick a new graphics card or some ram into down the line.

Is something like this [http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229308] overpriced, or is it missing something I should buy separately? The power supply is 800w, is that enough? Should I get something around this price range and just add extra ram or move up in price somewhat? I've never bought anything from Newegg.

Any suggestions? Am at a bit of a loss, my knowledge of computers has kinda not kept up with the times. I'd like an i7 and at least the 8gigs of ram, hard drive space isn't a big deal s I don't store shows or movies and have an external anyway...

Thanks guys.

The Computer on newegg looks overpriced to me, and the parts are badly matched.
The question is, what will you be doing with the PC?
Gaming? work? Video editing?

current gen CPU and GPU are very power efficiant,
so there is little reason to get a 800w power supply,
unless you want to use x-fire/SLI.

also, don't forget the price for a decent keyboard, mouse,
screen and speakers.

You are awesome. Thanks so much. I'll do some research on this when I get home from work. It will be a gaming computer, yes. I'll play with that site, too. I didn't know it existed - thank you.

Coming from a fellow Canadian (Ontario), I'll just post to confirm NCIX is a great place to buy stuff from.

They even have a price matching system on checkout, so if you can find the part for cheaper somewhere else, post the link and they'll verify it. I just built a new rig about a month ago for 1900$, and I saved probably about 200$ by price-matching on their website (every price match I made went through!).

Good luck with the build!

For the price, it isn't fantastic.

Couple of things that make me nervous.

The PSU isn't named

The Motherboard isn't named

With these things in mind, think about what they aren't telling you. Like a prefab dell, your upgrade options are limited at best.

Looks alright to me. The GTX 570 might need to be replaced in about a year probably, depending on if you do multiple screens or so. 4GB RAM will do fine for now, might upgrade that later.
SATA III and USB 3.0 are a good idea, especially if you wanna look into more upgrades later.
Windows Ultimate is probably not worth the 100 extra dollars, Home Premium will do you fine for most.

All in all a good deal. The CPU will suffice for a pretty long time and other parts look good too.

Oops, it's supposed to be 8 gigs. Will have to fix that. I might also get better than the 570, but I"m not sure what's best for the price atm.

Thanks for the thoughts. Will have to order soon.

Edit: Slightly new build. Thoughts?:
