I am a huge, huge fan of the original, and by principle hate any sort of remakes. So you can imagine how I received the news years ago about this re-imagining.

Well, turns out I was flat-out wrong. I love everything about the new show, the characters, the look and feel of the show, it just swept me away. I was never more glad to have been proven wrong.

Its easily my favorite show of all time. The fourth season was a little too spiritual for my taste, I prefer the realistic military/political plots, but was spectacularly good none the less. I doubt there will be anything to match it later on.

Hm hm... well i LOVED the first season of it. But after a while it really went downhill fast for me. Still haven't watched the last season as i lost interest. I think i haven't watched most of the third season too, now that i checked.

But really: 33 (The first episode after the minies) was a masterpiece. VERY suspenseful.
I agree - '33' stands out as a very intense and suspenseful episode - MY kind of TV.

Though the reason why the Si-Fy-channel would want to name and tie it's original series to the cheesy, camp, cult phenomenon being Battlestar Galactica 1975 is obvious - $$$ - I absolutely adore how the writers had the balls to insist on writing a science fiction plot not for the sake of being science fiction, but in order to create a backdrop for an engaging narrative tackling intelligent issues of real life while delivering solid drama.

Or at least, that's how I remember the mini-series and the first season to be like. The later series developed the traditional TV-series silly-ness: The breaking point for me was when Colonel Tigh started to sing Bob Dylan's 'All Along the Watchtower' - that was just weird...

I didnt get on with it, it just felt like it was trying to hard, and all the trying ot set up pagan vs christianity thing just seemed strange to me.

But in saying that it did give us Number 6/Tricia Helfer in a slinky red dress, so it wasnt all bad.

I too watched this show on a whim this year. it was on netflix and I had run out of other shows to watch. after episode one of the miniseries i was hooked and watched it all in the timespan of 2 weeks.
The finale was just alright but then, I also understand how hard it is to write a good series finale.
