Hopefully when my brain goes dead i stop thinking.

Well, I'm a Christian so if you die and your saved your soul goes to Heaven, if not you go to Hell.

Then Judgement Day comes and we're all given new bodies and judged before everyone and again, if you have been saved you go to Heaven and if your not saved you go to Hell.
I hope they have a really big court room if we're all bought back at the same time in bodies to be judged.

I was raised on Christian beliefs but through them away when i became an adult. I didn't have a problem with the beliefs but the people. I can't stand hypocrites. I don't claim to be perfect, but to preach one thing and do another with no remorse pisses me off.

When you're dead you're dead.

All other theories just seem like comfort blankets for people that don't want to accept that.

The cold, logical part of me thinks that the only thing that happens to your life is that it...ceases to exist. Once the body, the life support to the brain, shuts down, the electrical impulses running through our nerves cause it to slowly wind down into inertness. All that was is now dead, and unless someone chops it out of your head and manages to stick it back into a viable life support, theres nothing that can be done.

...The emotional, romantic part of me hopes - gently - that you are released from your body and allowed to float freely in the air, like a spirit, surrounded by other spirits like you. You are free to fly like a bird, do what you want where you want, unrestricted by a body or the danger of harm, before you are one day sucked back into the earth where you're born from, to join the rest of the world. From there you could be recreated into anything, or seperated into many different things.

That would be nice...but unlikely.

Surely that just gives evidence to the fact that the Bible is true - it says that all men are sinners and that is what you have discovered. Christians aren't perfect, never will be, nor should they claim to be. We're still sinners as well, just saved by the grace of God.

Also, anyone can claim to be Christian, doesn't make them Christian. And as an excuse it doesn't really hold well together.

"Sorry God, didn't do the whole Christian thing because some of your followers annoyed me."

The actions of other Christians shouldn't get in the way of our indivdual relationship with God.

What happens after death is unknowable, and I will find out when I get there. Until then, I'll live life the way I believe it should and hope that's enough.

Death is a pretty cool guy, we hang out every now and then. You now play a little bit of Guitar Hero, have a few drinks. But he is always around that War guy who can be abit too much.

Sorry you want a serious answer right?

Well i think death is the absense of life, one can not exist without the other. I do believe in an afterlife, and that my soul will carry on with out my body.

However to truly understand death you must unstand life, which no one truly does. So when I die (even if there is no after life) I will not fade away but live on through the world, I wil rot and return nutrients to the World and atoms to Universe. In conlusion no one truly dies we all our physical bodies merely live on through other means. Whether or not our physical and spiritual beings seperate is another question.

So by following what I have just said i.e no one truly dies, then how do we know that we have lived?

I believe it just goes black and that's it we seize to be. Which is why I believe every life is important, not just human but animal and insect.

I don't really believe in an afterlife. I tend not to believe in anything that isn't exactly scientifically plausible. That said, I HOPE their is some manner of afterlife or reincarnation, it just seems like a terrible waste to be given less than a century to do EVERYTHING.

Given new bodies? I never heard of that part...

I hope there is an afterlife or reincarnation, with the latter being the better of the two in my view.

How does one get saved? Is it as easy as being kind to everyone or must you devote your life to Christianity too?

You load your last save and try again.
Damn you! I was going to say that!

In all seriousness, I don't believe anything comes after death except oblivion, and not the Elder Scrolls Oblivion either, absolute oblivion. All that contrived stuff about an afterlife and eternity and heaven & hell and whatever are just myths to reassure people who are unable to accept their own mortality. No offence intended to anyone who believes in that stuff, it's just my opinion.

I like to think death involves someone staying perfectly conscious of his surroundings for all eternity.

I have no idea what the absence of a mind would be like, because I have no experience with that that I can recollect.
Why do you think you can't recollect it? It's simply the feeling of being asleep, but without the dreams.

I believe that when you die you are judged depending on whether you believe in Christ or not. Those who don't believe, no matter what, go to hell. Those who believe, as long as they have repented all their sins, gain entry to heaven.
