It needs to be legalized and taxed. Having marijuana illegal is so painfully hypocritical that it's fucking idiotic. People need to educate themselves a bit better about marijuana, hopefully they will realize how helpful and beneficial this plant can be.

Marijuana and hemp have been some of the most prized and important plants throughout our history for a DAMN good reason!

I say legalize it completely.
Side effects due to long-time use are not a valid argument.
There are millions of things that are worse to your health, both immediately and long term.
Most of them free and completely legal, most of which are more stupid than smoking marijuana.
So why should marijuana be illegal?

I don't support the use of drugs, but I do support the right to your own body.
I also don't like senseless, useless and completely arbitrary laws either.

I have seen the effects of long term marijuana use.

I refuse to support anything that involves people using it.
I kinda second this. My brother has become a complete asshat because of the amount he smokes.

On the other hand, medical marijuana has been proven to release people from pain. I think in these circumstances the experience of the patient should count for a lot more than it does.
In a way i agree, but on the other hand almost all painkillers contain Codeine, and Codeine is a derivative of Heroin, and can have much in the same effects...
It depends on the circumstances
no its morphine based not H
And Morphine is a component of Heroin - Both ways are correct really.

I also think recreational marijuana should be legalised.
Really, it's not like it's any worse than alcohol. And legalising it would ensure it's clean, nothing else mixed in.
Yes, yes, recreational, medicinal, whatever, legalised it.

Also, check out the documentary "Grass"

I know people who have been smoking for years. Nothing wrong with them, and I am not talking like 2 or 3 years. I am talking about 2+ decades.

I don't smoke myself but yes, it should be legalized. If you're completely against the idea of smoking marijuana, how would it being legalized for medical purposes change your life? It's not as if non smokers are going to go "oh man, its legal now, I guess we need to start smoking".
Plus, you either smoke or you don't, you drink or you don't...its up to you is it not?
I don't understand why people think that we need papa government to hold our hands and wipe our asses for us in regards to our personal morals.

Fuckin' agreed aye. [http://selfimportantwebsite.com/2010/03/26/get-it-right-california/] (thats not me btw)

I've only used it a few times, mainly due to lack of money, but I'm not addicted or dying or anything. And it suddenly hasn't made me more stupid or anything.

Besides, its better for you than smokes and booze, also feels better than booze anyways.

Morphine's active ingredient is diacetylmorphine, the same as heroin, but morphine is still considered the most effective painkiller for post operation patients. The associations make scare people but for the most part it's media fear mongering on slow news days.
No, no it isn't. The active ingredient in morphine is, oddly, morphine. That's why it's so different to heroin. Also why other morphine derivatives (codeine, which is methylmorphine) are still moderately addictive.

I want it fully legalized. It's your body, you should be able to do whatever the hell you want with it.

That's my philosophy. Well, actually it's not mine, I stole it. But it's still true!

Hell, legalize every single drug there is. Legalize suicide. Actually, why don't we just go and absolve the government while we're at it?

Thank you!

OP: Marijuana, is not, as commonly reported, an intoxicant. In fact, in cases of certain mental and physical disorders, as well as through chemotherapy, researchers have proved that in calculated amounts, medicinal marijuana can help these problems, and even save lives. I think it should be legalized.

As should recreational, with proper controls, such as that on Tobacco.

Legalize it.

As Bill Hicks said, the only legal drugs, alcohol and nicotine, are the ones that do nothing for you.

I don't like it. I could go on forever about how bad it is but I'm just gonna simply say that Marijuana is not helpful to anyone with sicknesses and/or diseases even for the pain.

I was so determined to be right on this that I looked it up one three different sources...
You are entirely correct.

And the ingredient that is supposedly responsible for cannabis' medical use is....cannabichromene (assuming I'm not mistaken again.) Perhaps we should simply purify this ingredient and use it instead without the more psychoactive compenents, THC etc?
