Finished the elite four on Sapphire too and now I'm playing through the new episode. While in general I feel that Pokemon gets better and better each generation, Gen 6 has been just super phenomenal. The little quality of life improvements have really reinvigorated my love of the series and while many of them aren't new to ORAS, it's still a blast to play a new (or maybe another would be more accurate) Pokemon game using them. When I first started playing Sapphire I felt a little spoiled by the diversity of Pokemon offered in early game X and Y but that was my only issue and that's pretty minor. Sharpedo makes all the water areas cool and flying on Latios/Latias is awesome. Not needing a Pokemon with Fly in the party to quickly get around makes a huge difference.
I kinda felt the same way after Gen 1 too. Thank god my brother bought Gold. Watching him play and seeing the awesome improvements over the original games really got me over my initial apprehension about the new Pokemon and taught me to embrace changes in the series. If you're ever tempted to get back into it though, the current generation is absolutely worth it. Pretty sure X and Y were targeting folks that had long ago abandoned the series, since it features a ton of the original Pokemon.wooty said:Hey, he asked for my opinion and there it is. Not got anything against Pokemon in the slightest, I've got a Pikachu plush toy proudly sat on my cars dashboard. I just didn't "feel" the new breed of Pokemon they brought out with Gold and Silver, as much as I tried. So for me, my interest in the franchise faded.
