So, a friend of mine told me about the Wish app. I just looked into it, and, while some claim it's okay, I'd like some more opinions. Has anyone used it?, if so, how was your experience? Is it actually legit?, or is it a scam I should avoid like the plague?

I've seen it spamming ads on my facebook. The first sample item on the ad was an asian sex doll and a bluetooth speaker. So I guess you can't blame them for lacking variety.

Personally i don't trust it. However i have a ( reliable) friend who swears by it. So i ( reluctantly) believe her. She has bought me gifts that came from Wish so theres that.

However i'll just stick to amazon. I'm old so i stick to what i know.

I buy a lot from/through Amazon. They deserve my money. There's a lot of scalpers on there, though. So I might want to reconsider... eventually.

I buy used tech locally. I support local stores. I like my meat and produce locally produced. It's important to me and is the sensible thing to do. But I also place orders through Ali (Baba and Express)... I'm a big girl. I don't really need some company telling me what to buy or where to buy it.

Is Wish legit? Well, a lot of smart rich people seem to trust it with some of their money. They believe in it. What is my experience with Wish? None. I feel no need to do business with them. It's too big and too consistent to be a scam, though.

If a startup can get hundreds of millions in funding because business is good, hey, they obviously know how to sell more than just apples. If they can keep growing year after year... respect. You gotta respect success. Maybe even trust it.

People are lazy. People will hover towards what is, or at least feels convenient. If Wish is that, and more, it will remain to be successful. I personally want nothing to do with it. If I want cheap Chinese knockoffs, be they single units or bulk, I know where to go. If I want stuff produced after my own liking, I know where to go. But, see, usually when I WANT something, I don't WISH for it. I set the wheels in motion so I get it. Either now, or soon. So, yeah, I don't like the name. I don't like the concept. I won't support it. If it works for your friends, it might work for you. As with Facebook, Google, Microsoft et al having all your data:

It's your choice.

I'll warn you as some one who has purchased many a Dragon Ball Z, Star Trek and Harry Potter items from it... What you will get are bootlegs of the item shown in the listing. Decent quality bootlegs, but bootlegs the same.

Also my wife and I call it the "forget it app" because of the extremely long shipping times. Most times by the time the item arrives you had forgotten your even purchased it.

Other than that, I've been happy with 90% of purchases I've made on it.

Wish is a very aggressive entity, and will send you email upon email even after you cancel your account. They send from a new address every time so even if you block them you will get the next one.

The prices are wholly unreliable and may change from page to page. The sales and rebates may or may not apply to any particular item, and you won't necessarily find out.

I would strongly urge you to stay away from Wish.

It's an eCommerce service that's basically like Amazon, but you get things for extremely cheap (well, for the most part). You can also reduce the price with this thing called group buying:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Group_buying

Reason why the stuff's extremely cheap is, apparently, because they're (as elaborated above) Chinese bootlegs.

IT's cheap as hell, and you get what you pay for. I refuse to buy anything tech related from them, but that's just because I don't trust it to not be loaded to the circuits with malware. Back when fidget spinners were a thing, I got a couple of decent ones from them for my kids.
Don't go there for anything you actually need. It's a pure impulse buy site.

I know a few people who use it and so far they're happy, i ordered a couple of things myself. Where else can you find a s8+ case for 2 euros with shipping included. If it's crap then i wont be losing much. I'm not trusting it enough to buy anything electronic though, i freaked out when my gf bought a wireless charger from them, hopefully it wont burn our house down anytime soon.
