Only eight? Huh. Well then, I say we just refer to ourselves as the Elite Eight. Sounds more dignified.Bob_McMillan said:Yeah, that's right, I'm talking to you, one of the maybe 8 people on the Escapist who bothered with this weekend's tech test.
Which I feel we should have a doctor look at by now. It's been hard for so long...Apparently the internet has a rage boner
Honestly? I didn't take that much issue with the changes. Certainly not as much as some in the community did. And I played the first game extensively, including semi-pro level tourneys.over how this game has changed from Titanfall. Less mobility, less Titans, weak Titans, etc. I never played the first one, so I can't really comment on that.
I did feel the lack of 'momentum building' while chaining wall-running and 'hooking, but it seems that was an unintended 'glitch'. Respawn says they've since corrected it for the next test this weekend.
As for the Titans, well....there were two. Two, in a beta test. Do people genuinely not understand what a beta test is, or that test builds rarely, if ever, feature the final builds full content?
Depends. The map in the first test was a lot more open and flat, making it more suited to Titan play while Pilot encounters were condensed to 'islands'. Even so, you could still chain wall-runs on certain structures and terrain to traverse the maps quickly.I did notice that the maps really don't suit wall-running so much.
The second test is supposed to feature a new map called "Fowardbase Kodai", which will supposedly feature larger Pilot-friendly layouts. We'll see.
It's fun and damned potent. I've used it to avoid death, net kills, and rodeo Titans in situations I would have otherwise likely have died. The game feels pretty shit if you don't have the grappling hook, which is fun.
This is not to say I feel it is 'over-powered', but it's certainly a powerful tool.
I still don't have an issue with the wall running. I can still pull off the same sorts of maneuvers I could in the first game.
It's not an easy thing to get the hang of. The mechanics on its function can feel wonky at first but once you start to get the feel for how it pulls, the shift in momentum it creates, and how it makes use of your initial movement, you'll find yourself swinging around the map like Spiderman.Although, like the wall-running, the grappling hook can feel a bit clunky at times, though maybe I just need to practice.
I'm excited for the campaign too. I was interested in exploring the story-verse they'd created for the first game, learning its lore and locales. But, needless to say, I was left wanting with the lack of a campaign. Here's hoping they've crafted a good narrative.Overall, the game is okay. It's been a long time since I played a twitch shooter, and I did have fun with what I played. Oddly enough, I am more excited for the singleplayer.
You'd be surprised. Some of the best maps in Titanfall were ones that featured a blend of large, open vistas and labyrinthine, multi-tiered corridors. All the jumping about and boosting seems more suited for linear areas rather than huge fuckaround maps.
Titanfall was at its best when you had Titans trying to ward off Pilots jumping and flying around the map like little bees.
