the principle thing is just a lousy excuse not to buy games from ea or who ever
You need an "excuse" not buy videogames from EA? And here I thought consumers had choice in where they spend their hard-earned money.
that's why i said it was lousy
So you do think that people need an excuse not buy games from EA? And that it must be a really compelling one?

Do you work for EA?
no i don't and i do think they need a real reason not ea is the devil or anything along those lines.

work for ea is the the best reason you can come up with for someone not to despise them
You seem to be arguing with someone else, I didn't call EA the devil (I'm not religious, and they're just a videogame publisher), nor did I say I despise them.

I don't like a lot of their buisness practices: I don't like that they have a terrible track record with destroying really good developers.
I don't like their use of microtransactions, I don't like that they sell cheats codes, weapon unlocks and other on disc content as DLC. I don't like that they seem to be trying to incorporate free-to-play style microtransactions into full priced retail games.
I don't like that they sell overpriced broken games on iOS (and break games that used to work like their £5 iOS version of Tetris).
I don't like that the strong-armed Microsoft into letting them run their own game servers (which are not as good) and then shut them down whenever they feel like, usually to try and force the playerbase on to their next instalment.
I don't like that they rush their development cycles to an excessive degree.
I don't like that they equate used game sales to piracy (for the record I buy almost all my games new).

Do you need more "excuses" for why one might choose not to purchase games from EA in the future? You seem very reactionary and defensive about a corporation that you apparently have no stake in. Don't worry I've forked over a small fortune to EA over the years, and even now that I've stopped buying games from them, guess what? They're doing fine, which is a shame as they're pretty objectively bad for the game industry and it's future. As a consumer all I can do when a company doesn't behave or provide the service I expect is take my buisness elsewhere - that's my right because EA is not my feudal lord.

No THQ no! why do they of all publishers have to go under? They've always been there with great games and no DRM or digital distribution BS.

ME NO WANT

Sad really, I wish EA had gone first.
EA is actually on a race with THQ to the bottom. Granted EA still has a healthier stock price, but they're getting hit hard, too.

THQ is big on online passes and on-disc DLC and focused on a lot of shitty titles of late. I think that probably explains it.

Good point, but I still would rather have Activision or EA go down instead.

Help Relic make Dawn of War 3, Company of Heroes 2 and Homeworld 3...rise to the top again. Seriously, there are heaps of RTS fans waiting for sequels to three fantastic franchises.

Scary thing is Activision's stock is actually going up.
Then the End Times have truly begun my friend. I must begin stockpiling the beans for the day when they unleash their shitstorm of mediocrity.

Seriously though, if THQ goes under and Activision picks up Relic, horrible things will happen. Yearly Dawn of War releases with less and less difference anyone?

Who holds the 40k licence Relic or THQ? Obsidian is in a nose-dive, is Volition their only developer still going strong?

I don't think it'll be long before Activision and EA are picking over the carcass (or just trying to grab the various licences like WWE). A shame for me as I don't buy EA games anymore on principle.
i'm pretty sure Relic has the 40K rights.

and bite your tongue!! I'd rather see Relic go down with THQ then have EA or Activsion totally ruin them and making me hate them
as much as I want that Warhammer 40K RPG I have to agree with you. What's that line, "You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain." From the Dark knight. If their gonna go down let them go down with dignity.

Well this is going to be a little funny to me. You don't want Blizzard infesting Relic's work. Want to guess who actually owns the IP rights to Homeworld?

Nothing but why would they? They already have Starcraft. No need to waste resources on an IP that they don't need to do anything with. Especially since with how old Homeworld is it would take a ton of marketing to get it's sales to anything they would want.

Oh I would too. I guess they haven't since no one has asked them because no one realizes that Relic doesn't own the IP just because they made it. Pity that's how publishers work.

Good. As long as they have Starcraft, which is probably going to be a very long time, they won't touch Homeworld. I haven't played it anyway so it wouldn't be as shocking as the Warhammer 40K or CoH license. Still, I'm saddened that Relic can't make another one or at least release the older ones digital.
