Firstly, She Who Must Not Be Named has terrible earrings.
Secondly, Casca from Berserk, but only before?THAT incident. Because since then, she?s just become a debilitating character who only exists to serve as a motivation for Guts? continuing journey. And who knows if she?ll ever get back to her usual self by the time Miura (if he ever does) finishes the 35+ volume series that?s been running since the 80s.
And I agree with SUPER FRANKY; Jolyne from JoJo might as well be an instruction manual for how to write the best female characters. She?s got probably one of the best character development out of any of the previous protagonists (bar Joseph, maybe), as well as an iconic design and fleshed-out character traits that really humanise her. And at no point is the story like, ?OMG, she?s a badass even though she?s a woman!?, which is a testament to Araki?s storytelling, because other series might?ve fallen into that trap.
I?d also mention Jordan from The Great Gatsby, which is probably surprising considering she?s a character in the book written (and set) in the 1920s, but she?s always been my favourite character in the book because her independence and the implications Fitzgerald gives us as to her characterization and her relationship with the narrator, Nick.
