Three of Resident Evil 6's Multiplayer Modes Will be Paid DLC

Another one of those things where people will (rightfully) get annoyed with them doing it, but the DLC will still sell so much that the company sees it as worth doing.

In the Jimquisition he made a good argument about not boycotting games if you do not support the publishers, but DLC is another thing entirely. If people stopped buying them, they'd realise that gamers aren't willing to put up with being ripped off.

Note: I am not saying that all DLC is a rip-off. Only the ones where they clearly could have been included into the main title, had they not deliberately held on to it to sell us later.

Microsoft pays developers and publishers for timed exclusives. Sony either won't or can't do the same.

Indeed. Although it seems odd considering that Resident Evil is a Japanese game, and Sony is the only Japanese console that can play it.

I can't remember who said it, but a while back one of the Escapist staff did a piece similar to this where they said something like; Make the single player game cheaper then sell the multiplayer components separately, for those who want them.

A lot of forum posters liked that idea, at the time.

at least uplay works fine and i dont have to sit there for over 2 hours to register and it doesnt delete my profile just like that and my saves. i have uplay since AC2 and i never ever had any problems with it. LIVE on the other hand, i have problems.

I don't have any problems with uPlay neither. You know why? Because I stopped buying Ubisoft games when they started this shit.

400MS points for the lot? That's fine and dandy.

Still can't beat Halo though, custom modes/ maps for the win.

That's funny, because you don't have to buy DLC to get the 3 (NO SORRY 4!) campaigns shipping with this game.

This DLC is just extra multiplayer modes, and I doubt many people give a shit about multiplayer in RE games anyway.

Using this as an excuse to not buy the entire game sounds absolutely ridiculous you know.

It doesn't seem like they have taken anything away from the core experience of the game in order to sell as extra down the line.

As much as I don't like on disk DLC and paid multiplayer, Resident Evil isn't really a game that needs multiplayer. Honestly RE:5's multiplayer wasn't worth paying for anyways.

But seriously RE:6 looks like crap anyways. And the multiplayer in RE:5 wasn't worth the money they charged for it. Why cry over it for this game?

I'm pretty certain, with all the muck surrounding this game... it's not going to sell well. At all. I mean, games that should have sold millions like Street Fighter X Tekken have sold basically nothing thanks to Ubisoft's paltry, incessant bullshit. There is no way it won't happen with Resident Evil 6. Capcom will learn the hard way - people are sick to death of their bullshit.

Siege mode is a fairly typical "VIP" game mode, where one team has to defend an NPC (spoiler: which will be dumb as a box of hammers) while the other tries to murder it.

I'll ignore the paid DLC bits because I'm sure Capcom will get plenty of rage for it without needing to add to the pile.

But why in the name of all that is holy would they ruin VIP mode by making the VIP an AI controlled NPC? VIP mode doesn't show up often enough. I played the crap out of that mode back in TFC and it seems like it's mostly died since despite being awesome. Now they decide to lend it a helping hand just so they can get more leverage when they kick it in the nuts?

No Capcom, fuck you! Leave VIP mode alone.

What pisses me off more than the obvious fan-milking cash grab going on here is the apathy displayed in some of the posts in this thread.

I get more pissed at "oh, doesn't affect me, I won't get it anyway, so I don't care", or "well I can afford it anyway if I want it, so who cares if it's wrong", than I get at "oh look, they're willing to pay whatever we demand, let's claim their virginity, but with separately released DLC". At least they have an interest in maximizing their profits. What interest do we have as consumers in helping them along? Next time, you will care, and then you'll be all in uproar over the audacity and the greed. But then someone ELSE will say they don't care, because it doesn't affect them.

What a marvelous world we live in. Everyone reserves the right to complain, but only when it affects themselves, and then they reserve the right to not care about their fellow man, and then complain when nobody cares about them. And they justify if by saying hey, it's just human to be a narcissistic asshole, let's just accept and embrace it, because caring is just too draining and takes away time from the other important matters I have to think about, like which color I want on my iPhone or whatever.

Gamers deserve all the bullshit we get from the publishers, because we swallow it all like good b*tches anyway, even if we're loud and annoying. Just swat at us like a fly, and eventually we'll pipe down and pay up for whatever the latest sodomy is wrapped in.

Well said and I agree, of course this is going to be used a precedent so I do hope it all fails miserably.

It wouldn't be so bad if they did all this DLC as game packages. Buy game for 30dollars, buy multiplayer for another 30. It would make me think about buying all the FPS shooters for their 2 hour single play (which is the only thing I care about)

But of course they are going to keep selling or trying to sell their game for 60dollars and more + day1 dlc + more until people stop paying

Well I am not planning on buying the game for the multiplayer modes that aren't co-op so I guess it isn't a huge problem, but hey at least it isn't on disc DLC right?
