*DING DONG DING DONG*

The master clock in the main foyer went off, signaling 7 AM in the morning. Most of the grunts were still awake, enjoying the house while they could. In two hours time the booze had been broken out and mostly consumed. The basement was cleared right out of wine, the taste of it wasted on the thugs who just wanted to get drunk. Alex maintained order with the hostages, making sure nothing happened.

Max dressed himself. He opened his fourth bottle of wine a little clumsily. It was the second last one in the wine cooler.

"I better... I better... I'm going to check up on all the grunts." he said aloud, making up his mind. He left his bedding prepared, nice and neat. He opened the locked door to the pool and closed it behind him. A few grunts had tried to come in but he had ordered them to back off when they banged on the door. The pool was his!

Going through the house he encountered many scared maids. Some of the grunts were drunkly bragging to them about their strength, shamelessly flirting with the women who were powerless to leave.

"Leave that girl alone I order youoouo" said Max to a grunt who was starting to feel up the leg of one of the maids. He giggled a little and started up the stairs. He eventually made it over to Alex.

"Well Maxie, seems like you're enjoying yourself."

You *****, if you weren't my commander I'd slug you out right now!

"Just trying to keep up with the women, I mean men sir."

Alex laughed, grabbing his shoulder. Max stumbled and leaned against the railing of the stairway.

"Careful there Max, wouldn't want anything to happen to you." he said a little icily.

"Of course not sir." said Max a little more soberly. He forced himself to walk straight until he was in a new wing of the house.

"Rich fuckers, how big a house do you need?" he said. He forced a few grunts to salute him before giving a sucker punch to one of the men. They 'playfully' fought until Max got the tough bastard into a hold.

"Get your asses to sleep soon, you hear?" laughed Max. He came upon a closed room.

"Anyone in there?" He opened up and found Ellie alone. He took a quick swig from the wine bottle and winked.

"Had to get away from the slobs huh?"

Ellie was startled when the door opened and closed behind her. She whirled around, ready for a fight, but relaxed a little when she saw Max standing there. Drunk. He had to be drunk. Or high, but he didn't have that bitter smell.

"Yes... sir. It was quiet in this room, I didn't think it was yours... I apologize, I'll find another room."

His personality seemed to do a complete 180. She lit up a cigarette, trying not to show any disappointment.

"It's not my room, just need to keep an eye on things. These people... These fuckers are rich. We can't go roughing them up too bad. We just need to show them who's in charge and we're in charge." he said, grinning.

He shook the wine bottle.

"I've got more wine in the pool room if you wanted." he offered clumsily.

Easy Max. You know nothing about this *****...

I don't drink seemed like a stupid thing to say. No thanks seemed like a worse idea. "If you want my company, Lieutenant, I can go. Unless you're busy... keeping an eye on things?" She extinguished the cigarette, returning it behind her ear. It wasn't that she was finished, but she didn't like the idea of trailing the smoke through the house.

The lack of interest was duly noted, even though his body was urging him onwards.

Ah, fuck it. I can always grab a girl later...

"Right, very busy anyway." he said, placing the bottle under his arm.

"You're from blue team then? What did you think of the officers there?"

Might as well see if there are any potential allies there...

"They did their jobs." She hoped he wasn't looking for a personal opinion. "Some were more strict than others. A lot of them have been doing this for a long time, and are vying for a promotion. What exactly do you want to know, lieutenant?"

She followed him out, deciding to talk to him a little anyway, hoping he wasn't upset that she hadn't said yes. Besides, the sun was up, and she wasn't used to sleeping in the daytime, no matter how tired she was.

"I wanted to know if they were friends of Alex or Proton to be honest..." said Max, walking along the hallway slowly.

Dammit Max, don't let her know too much. She's too damn new.

"Proton, a few. Alex... I don't think so. I didn't hear too much about him until the lieutenants found out some of us were going to be transferred here, so I assume none of the blue lieutenants were close to him." She personally wasn't a fan of Proton. "Proton, he's respected, I suppose. Of course, there's a lot of jealousy. A lot of Rockets in general want to be in his position." She tried to keep it as neutral as possible.

"Can you name who were with Proton?" he asked, perhaps a bit too enthusiastically.

At least none of them seem to be patrons of Alex if she's to be believed...

"There's a review coming up and Giovanni wants to know about the executives."

It was total bullshit but it was the best he could come up with. Tired, drunk and rejected. It would be good to get on the go again. If only he could take one of those maids away...

"No sir. I've worked under several lieutenants. It's a delicate balance between jealousy and loyalty. Some want to get higher, but they can't exactly broadcast it. They pick their battles carefully." It wasn't a lie. Not a complete lie, anyway. She knew that Lieutenant Adrian tended to side with Archer, which was fine with her. But like she said, there was a balance between jealousy and loyalty. She wasn't going to completely satisfy Max's interest in the Blue team unless she was sure that it wouldn't get her into trouble.

Ellie would have changed the subject if she was any good at small talk. She almost never had a lieutenant talk to her, much less try to have a conversation.

"Ah, it doesn't matter too much. Talent rises to the top." he said stopping to lean against a wall for a second. He noticed a picture of the rich family smiling on a boat. They looked so happy...

He punched the picture, smashing the frame angrily.

"Well, you're with Yellow now. You're going to have to be careful here. Alex likes to beat those who fail with his bat."

The grunts aren't important, its the executives you have to please....

He took another sip of the wine bottle, forcing himself to go on.

"Anyone say anything abou-" he stopped cold. Alex was walking towards them.

"For your sake and mine mention nothing of this conversation." he whispered hurriedly.

Alex came and looked at Ellie.

"Hello there... I hope Max hasn't been bothering you."

"No sir, just checking up on everyone." he turned to Ellie. "Carry on grunt, keep an eye out on that balcony."

"Shouldn't you be getting to bed Maxie? I have a spot set aside for us officers..."

"Sorry but I've already got a spot picked out. Another time." said Max, walking ahead before Alex could catch up.

No fucking way.

Max had learned nothing and what's more he wasn't going to get laid until the next rest period. At least he had found some hooch. He walked down through the main hall and checked in on the kitchen. There were still grunts drinking and talking.

"I want all grunts not assigned to watch duty to sleep! That's an... an order! Spread the word." he walked back to the pool where a grunt was starting to take off his shirt.

"Get the fuck out."

He rushed away and Max closed the door behind him. He fell asleep pretty much immediately.

Caid tilted her head in amusement at the fact that Leels didn't wanna touch her. Her Ekans slithered between her boots and over by Leels, as if sniffing her down to be a threat or not.

"Uh, how's it goin' for you?"

"Fine an' fukkin' dandy, princess. We jus' torched a place an' looted some nice shit here. What could be wrong?"

The sarcasm from that sentence could've hit someone with a hammer, but Caid's grin made it appear like she actually meant what she said, and she stuck out a grimy hand.

"Caid Murdock. Put 'er there, Teamie."

I edited this because I'm a dummy who missed everything. >-<

Hunger now sated Dirk wiped his mouth on his sleeve and sauntered off to go find something else to do. Sleep could wait seeing as how this sort of opportunity didn't come along all that often.

Passing by the grunts who had raided the wine cellar he briefly considered grabbing a drink or two but decided against it. He knew he was too much of a lightwieght to walk off a serious hangover and he really didn't want to still be here when the rest had left.

It was at about this point when he remembered that his uniform was still ruined from the debacle two nights ago. Poking his head into the nearest room he found a drunk grunt sleeping, grasping an empty bottle, clothes discarded on the floor...

Strolling down the hall in a fresh pair of pants, Dirk decided he might as well get a bit of work done while he was at it. Security systems in such high class establishments did tend to be uncannily similar. Dirk had noticed many a pattern over the years. Especially when it came to hidden safes. The concept was so incredibly trite yet for some reason or another almost every house of this calibre had one. Not all of them were in use but it was generally worth a look.

He'd gone through three rooms beore he finally heard the hollow knock that indicates an empty space. The painting swung forward to reveal a familiar sight. Thankfully, no one was in the rrom with him so he could exercise his own discretion. And the fact that power had been cut meant there'd be no alarms. All he had to do was point Grimer at the safe and he did the rest as it had done many times before. Minimize to get inside, Acid to destroy the lock. After a couple of minutes the sizzling gave way to a click and the safe popped open. It really was a bit sad that they hadn't developed a proper protection against this method, although it was not as common as one might expect as the pokemon in question would need to be well trained.

The contents were a bit dissapointing, however. It was mostly documents regarding business deals and plenty of things he couldn't decipher. He grabbed them anyway seeing as how he felt he may as well get something for his troubles. There was also a stack of...adult gentlemens literature. That was of very little value right at this moment. He also noticed a wad of cash and pocketed it too.

Not a bad haul.

He figured he'd hand over the documents to Max. He might be able to do something with them and he was a bit more endeared towards him than Alex.

Which was easier said than done because after walking all over the damn place he couldn't find him. He'd need to sleep soon. Before that though he found a quiet place in the lounge area and gave the papers a closer look. Maybe he could get something out of them...

"No... Commander." It took a few seconds for her to remember the proper title. She lowered her head meekly with a small and quick bow. She was silent while Max and Alex talked, taking a few steps back. On one hand, she wasn't dismissed, on the other, she wasn't invited to stay.

"Carry on grunt, keep an eye out on that balcony." She would have made a beeline back to the room she had stayed in, but Max was quicker, leaving her with the commander. ... ... ... ... shit "Good night, then, Commander...?" The fact that Max had left in such a hurry unsettled her, and she didn't know what to do.

"Oh, come now. You must simply tell me about Blue Team." said Alex, wrapping his left arm around the female grunt and swinging his bat. He laughed a bit.

"I want to know what you told Maxxie. I'm wise to his games and he thinks I'm just a psycho!" he said, accidentally hitting a fancy table sitting in the hallway with his bat. He ignored the crash of the vase that fell off of it.

"Come, you can tell me all about your Commander. Keith wasn't it? How is he doing these days? Does he talk much to Petrel?"

They walked onto the balcony and Alex looked at the sunrise, awaiting her reply.

Okay, don't panic. "The Lieutenant just wanted to know how the Blue team was. He knew I was new, and wanted to make sure I was up to standards." The Yellow team was so different from the Blue team. "The Blue Commander is fine. He wasn't happy to have to send away some of his blue grunts." Was everyone so eager to overthrow the Executives? It must come with the territory... "I don't believe he's spoken with Petrel recently, save when he dropped us off. Like I said, he was unhappy about the decision to send us here." She stood awkwardly beside him, trying to find an excuse to get his arm off.

She took her cigarette off her ear, and "accidentally" dropped her lighter. It was a dull, heavily used thing, and made a clunk when it hit the ground. She bent to pick it up, taking a step to the side as she lit up. To her dismay, it did nothing to enforce personal space, and the commander had returned his arm like they were old friends.

"Caid Murdock. Put 'er there, Teamie."

Leela looked at the hand offered and quickly became interested in the Ekans coiling around her leg.

"Oh! So you've got one of these,"She said excitedly, going to one knee and began interacting with the pokemon,"I had one too, for a while, then our esteemed leader decided to make each of us get rid of what makes us better at what we do. As for the fire, that was stupid, close to Zane levels of moronicicity. And almost nothing to show for it, that makes sense. And then we ta-"

Leela jumped out of the doorway and behind the nearest obstacle as she turned her head at a flash of movement and saw a servant turning the corner. It was not going to be a good night.

"So Kieth doesn't want to help Yellow huh? Big surprise." he said, holding Ellie closer.

"Still, what did Max want to know?" he said, edging her closer to the edge of the balcony.

"He wanted to know where my loyalties lie. He wanted to make sure that we're really here to help the Yellow team, and not to... spy." She took a deep breath to calm down, staring at the railing. It was getting a little more dangerous to lie. She wondered how much he knew, and how much he was going to push this. Still, right now she was more inclined to tell him more than she told Max.

Her Ekans hissed softly and rubbed it's head against Leela's hand, showing that it at least tolerated her.

"I had one too, for a while, then our esteemed leader decided to make each of us get rid of what makes us better at what we do."

"See, that's where I would had words...I had that girl since I was a lil' girl. Shocked it ain't hit Arbok yet, honestly."

"That fire was stupid, close to Zane levels of moronicicity."

Caid rubbed the back of her head and looked down at the floor a little.

"Yeah...see, I got a thing about completely fukkin' over houses...but I won't get into it now...Who's Zane?"

She was expecing an answer when she saw Leels jump about a foot out of her skin and dive behind a potted plant, sending the Ekans slithering for saftey, hissing a little annoyedly at her.

"...Yer pretty jumpy."
