Scott lit a match from his small pack. The orange hue light up nothing but the few grunts standing next to him. After a few seconds the match burned down and Scott tossed it.

"Who has fire pokemon? Is Mayu with us, doesn't she have a Vulpix? We need some light in here."

Damn old women being superstitious as hell.

Ellie knew enough about Lavender to not be afraid of their chanting and mumbling: they were just old ladies, and their pokemon confirmed it. She put out her Zubat: she was considerate enough to spare her Nidorina for the moment, and the small Clefairy in front of them wasn't even worth the effort. It slapped the air uselessly as the Zubat circled around, zooming in and out with properly timed Leech Lives.

She was past them easily, kicking the fainted Clefairy out of the way before continuing up the stairs, ignoring the shrieks and protests of its trainer.

As soon as she was on the stairs, it was dark again. What happened to the Lieutenant? was her first alarmed thought. The beam of the flashlight was gone. Her steps quickened, only for her to run smack into something.

"Watch it, grunt" a familiar voice snarled. It was hard to see anything now, even the Lieutenant's outline was almost hidden. "Sorry, Lieutenant." She heard Scott there too, looking for the kid. Ellie got to her feet and took Ponyta off of her belt. The red flash made everything look eerier for a few seconds before quickly fading, leaving what was for a moment, a bright fiery light. Then it faded down to almost the equivalent of a candle.

The Ponyta slunk back, unnerved by the Tower, and probably would have bolted down the stairs had Ellie not released her Nidorina next. The poison pokemon growled and snapped at Ponyta's feet, forcing it forward. Despite her orders, despite Nidorina getting a few bites into her ankles, it wouldn't get brighter than it was, illuminating only the immediate area. Still, it was better than nothing. "Sorry, sir, she won't light up any stronger. The damn thing's scared."

Mayu had followed the group that broke through the line, and upon seeing that it was very dark, nodded her head and said. "Just a second." Turning to her Vulpix, she said. "Use your ember, but very weakly. I don't want to burn anything. Just enough to get a light." Vulpix nodded her head and after raising it into the air, started to breathe a flame into the air, adding a little more illumination to the area, with the help of Ellie's Ponyta.

The light from the two fire Pokemon lit up a small path through the numerous graves. It was packed on this floor and Wex, at the back, could hardly see anything. A grunt grabbed brushed by him on his right.

"Hey, watc-"

The words died in his mouth. He had felt an arm bent in a splint. Alex! Alex was here! In the dark! Having the psycho so close in the dark was more scary than any monster his imagination could concoct. He lost the black uniformed sadist in the line of grunts. Max probably didn't even know the Commander was with them.

As long as you're far away from me...

* * * * * * *

A chilling wind blew across the room, its source unknown. Ellie's Ponyta jumped up in alarm and tried to retreat through the crowded line of grunts only to get punched back into position. The Vulpix beside Mayu actually had its flame die out in alarm. Max kept a hand on Nidorino's back, careful not to touch a poisonous barb.

That was freaky.

They came upon a clearing in the graves. The stone floor below them was moist and there was a glowing series of symbols on the ground.

"You!" shouted a voice. It was another old woman, like those below. This one however seemed to be ancient.

"Spirits, demons, ghosts, etcetera etcetera. Move woman or we'll let you join your precious afterlife."

"You do not come with the devil in the mask?"

Kat was here huh? Whatever.

"She isn't important to us."

"She went below." said the crone, gesturing at the glowing runes in the clearing.

"Through stone? Seems like quite the feat."

"This is a passageway. But you bloody fools didn't notice did you? How the steps were longer up to my floor?"

It was true when Max stopped to think about it. The stairs up to this floor had been a lot longer and higher. Not that anyone would notice. It was kind of odd that the floor between the last floor would be so much thicker but it didn't matter.

"Shut up, you're in my way."

"There are forces you cannot comprehend at work here you young fool... Do yourself a favor and leave!" she said. She took a big breath and blew out towards them. That same chilling wind washed over them, crawling up their skin and underneath their uniforms. The lesser of the grunts panicked when the Ponyta lost its flame altogether for a moment.

When the fire Pokemon finally regained their light and their wits, the woman was gone. The symbols still sat there glowing faintly white in the stone floor.

Weird. It almost feels safer here.

Sending Mayu forward to find the stairs, he looked back at his grunts. There were still nine of them.

At least they didn't break ranks over a creepy old woman.

Mayu was a little surprised when she was given the order to take the front, but she knew that she was one of the few with a fire Pokemon. Moving slowly, she had her Vulpix continue lighting the way with her flame. The young girl had a strange feeling about this place but she wasn't about to let it get to her. She was a Rocket, and Rockets weren't afraid of anything!

More mumbo jumbo. Just peachy. Addison had shivered as the cold washed over her, though frankly all this mysticism was generating more irritation than fear.

She paused in the aftermath of the crone's disappearing act to remove a small notepad usually reserved for chemical formulas from the breast pocket of her labcoat, taking a moment or two to jot down the glowing symbols on the floor, just in case they were at all relevent to what the rest of green had been doing up here. Personally, she suspected it was just more nonsense hocus-pocus, but better safe than sorry.

Tucking the notebook back into her pocket, she walked on with the rest.

Mayu had discovered the stairs so she shouted eagerly at the rest of them. Wex trudged along, dropping behind to be the last grunt in the line. He didn't like the feel of what lay ahead. Seemed like a trap.

And I'm not about to be the first one to walk into it.

He so happened to stop on the old woman's symbols. He stared at them curiously. They all kind of wound up in a central pattern. Despite himself, he started walking along them, wondering what on Earth they coul-

The floor gave out beneath him, the stone was gone as if it hadn't existed. He fell what must have been five feet, too surprised to scream. The little light provided by the Ponyta and the Vulpix vanished with it. Recovering hi wits, he scrambled to his feet to stand up but banged his head on a very low stone ceiling. Above him the white symbols he had just walked along appeared on the stone.

"HELLO?!?!" he shouted. Nothing but the sound of his own voice greeted him, bouncing back from a tunnel to his right. In the pitch black he felt for his balls, letting out his smartest rat.

"Find a way out of this and come back to me." he ordered the Pokemon in the black. It scampered off.

Wex tried retracing the pattern he walked above with his hands but the stone remained seemingly immovable.

"Fucking magic, fucking curses... FUCKING TOWER!!"

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Wex's disappearance went unnoticed by Max as the group climbed up to the sixth floor. That was because the moment they were making their at the top of the stairs they were barraged by a clatter of bones, skulls and furious growls from some kind of Pokemon.

"What are these things?" shouted Max, ducking behind a grave.

His Nidorino was already dashing through the darkness, crying in pain but smashing into the small Pokemon. One appeared for a brief moment in the light provided by Ellie's angry Ponyta. It was a small brown Pokemon, running on two legs and swinging a large bone. It dashed away quickly behind a grave, pelting a smaller bone at Max's leg. The other grunts were having problems too.

How many are there?

The cries of the strange Pokemon echoed through the room and it was impossible to see them all at once.

"Leels! Knock down all these graves!"

Nobody in character knows what Pokemon these are. That's to be explained later. Yes, it is Cubone but that species doesn't 'exist' yet. Still being discovered. More explaining this later, their appearance without the skull has been posted in the user group. Now sleep! z.z

An ambush! Frustrating, but to be fair, Addison had been slightly surprised they'd come this far without incident. So she'd have to make the best of it. Possibly prove herself a bit more to these yellows in the meantime. She released her Gloom, donned her safety goggles and moved a bit closer to the front of the pack.

She'd considered scattering Stun Spores over the area, but the last thing she wanted to do was have it turned on the group by another gust of inexplicable wind. Best to play it safe. True, it would be hard to aim in the dark, but on the other hand, there seemed to be so many of the little pests in the area you'd hardly have to.

Pointing the Gloom towards the area with the majority of the cries, she allowed herself a brief smile. "Misery, drain these wretches dry." The Gloom named Misery proceeded to try drawing energy from the direction of the cries with Absorb. It was a hit and miss affair, given the poor visibility, although when it did connect, while impossible to say for sure without seeing the victim, the Gloom seemed visibly invigorated. Hmm. Whatever these things were, possibly they were weak to grass attacks..

Mayu instantly covered herself with her arms as the group was barraged by bones. Her Vulpix quickly coming to her rescue by launching a blast of fire at the group of strange Pokemon, she had enough time to stand and see just what they were. They didn't look like anything she had ever seen before, and as she took cover behind a grave, she said. "W-what are those things? I've never seen anything like them before!" Of course, she had only seen a few Pokemon in her life, so her mental pokedex was pretty much empty at the moment.

As her owner tried to make sense of all that was happening, Vulpix continued to launch flames at the annoying foes, but because they took cover behind the graves, she was unable to effectively take them out. Because of the light caused by the flames, she was usually able to foresee the incoming bones, and avoid them accordingly.

Ellie yelped in surprise as a flurry of bones shot out at them. She let out her Zubat, which would probably do better in maneuvering in the dark than her Nidorina. "Take out these things!" she shouted, smacking the Ponyta as well. She stayed close to it, trying not to get lost in the dark. Everything was getting chaotic, but that was no reason to run around blindly. The Ponyta, despite its efforts, was glowing weaker and weaker from the Ground attacks.

Ellie blindly kicked one out of the way, trying to find the stairs to escape.

A lot of what she'd heard in the basement of the pokemon centre made sense now. Sadly it did not increase Addison's respect for most of her green colleagues. This was what they had been rambling about? The "risen dead" emerging to bar their progress?! This was absurd! Whatever these things were, Misery was soaking up their energy with definate vigor. She'd been barely effected by the attacks that had hit her and whatever damage was done was certainly healed by now. And that meant what? Water, Rock or Ground.. It didn't seem likely that they were water, nor what snatchs seen of them look especially rocky, though it was still a more likely possibility than water.

THWACK

"Gah!" It wasn't the most dignified noise in the world, as Addison was simultaneously thankful for her safety goggles and annoyed her moment of theorising had allowed her to be hit in the face by a wayward bone. Repositioning herself lower and behind one of the gravestones, she sought to move closer to Max as Misery drained the energy from what she could only hope was the culprit of that last attack. "Sir! I think these things are ground types, maybe rock. Some of the others mentioned these being the first thing to go wrong on their assent. Nonsense about the dead rising and them all breaking ranks in the chaos-"

She stopped herself before she rambled and got to the important part.

"This is about when the old man is supposed to have showed up! Chaos from these bonewhelps and the old man and fire finishing them all up when they split up in the dark! I've not a description of what his creature is, just that there's fire involved! It's imperitive we do not break ranks sir! If this is routine defense the old man is on his way and just waiting for us to be split up." She paused, a dark thought crossing her mind. "Unless he's already here! Watching!" She drew the Gloom a little closer as it concluded draining another to form tighter rank with the other grunts, avoiding looking directly at the light of the fire pokemon in the group to keep her nightvision half decent. "Orders sir?"

Max soaked in the information as Leel's Machoke roared and shouted, pushing over rows of gravestones. Some of the stones fell on the attacking Pokemon, causing loud yelps of pain. The bone barrage didn't lessen any but at least there was more of an open space for them to see where they were darting in and out of. Nidorino finally started having some success with poisoning them although it never seemed to hurt them too much initially. Despite all their efforts though, there were too many bones being thrown at them to preserve their strength.

"If we just keep sitting here, the bones will do this trainer's work for him. If we try to move forward, we'll..."

Inspiration struck.

"Mayu! Ellie! Withdraw your fire Pokemon for a moment!"

The light vanished and the bones started missing. Within a few more seconds they stopped altogether. Then a bright light emerged from behind a massive gravestone.

"Heal up, heal up." hissed Max. Potions were spread across all the grunts lying behind the wall of graves. They didn't have enough to heal all their Pokemon back up but at least they were as ready as they could be. A jet of fire erupted towards the stones. It was a Magmar, Max recognized it after remembering seeing Petrel using one.

"Rockets, charge!"

They circled around the giant flame, the pokemon turned, confused.

"Wait, you're..." mumbled an old man. As the Rockets ducked and rolled behind graves, their Pokemon pounced and took out the mystery brown Pokemon along their way. A jet of flame took down Max's Spearow but they were almost across the entire room.

"Come back Magmar, to the stairs! Come my children!"

The fire Pokemon spread flames in all directions before fleeing up the stairs after the figure of a short old man. Several of the little bone throwers followed. The Rockets halted at the stairs as the darkness caught up with them.

"Light."

The Rocket fire Pokemon were out now. Behind them lay the motionless bodies of at least a dozen of the little Pokemon who had fought them earlier. It must have been embarrassing for the two Green grunts looking at the few Pokemon who had defeated them.

Just barrage them with bones and then finish them off in the dark with a Magmar. The Green officers were fools.

They had a problem though. All their healing items had been finished off and they still had to deal with the Magmar.

"We'll take him all at once. He can't stop all of us." muttered Max, looking at his Nidorino. It was tired but still eager to fight. A good Pokemon.

They advanced up the stairs to the seventh floor.

********************************************

All of Wex's efforts to try and activate the stone had failed. He had no knowledge of any magic, he just wanted to get out of the cramped space he was stuck in. His Rattata bit his hand lightly.

"What?" he whispered. It chattered and jumped down a little path, calling back to him.

Well, nothing else to do here...

The path was all stone and was very small, obliging Wex to travel on hands and knees. The whole tower was built up on stone, right along the side of a rocky ledge. After a certain point he knew he was outside of the tower, the hole he was going through had led him past where he guessed the walls separating the tower from the outside had been.

"I hope there is a way out..."

It was pitch black and Wex wasn't blessed with fire Pokemon. Just his rats. His Rattata shrieked at him. Light! He crawled a little bit faster, ignoring the rocks jabbing into his knees. The tunnel was getting bigger too and eventually he could walk. The light was the same pale white of the symbols he had experienced before. Standing before it was...

Wex was lifted off his feet by an unknown force. He screamed in terror. It was that circus witch!

Scott watched as the girl in the lab coat barked "advice" at Max. Ducking behind a gravestone with Meowth between his feet Scott said: "Looks like you have some competition for fearless leader, eh Lieutenant?"

After the old man retreated up the stairs Scott peered down at one of the rodent creatures. "Hey Lieutenant, can I have one of these? They're pretty badass, and cute too."

"Focus on the mission." said Max, glancing back at Scott in the dim light. Even though he hated his guts, the grunt didn't stay behind to fight the easy fight. He wiped the sweat from his face with the sleeve of his uniform. That Magmar had been hot and sprinting and leaping over graves had been a real work out. He still felt pain in his stomach from Ridner too.

Forget that. The tower only had seven floors. He has no where to go.

"Alright, remember we attack as one. He won't be able to stop us that way."

They approached the stairs cautiously. No fire. They bolted up quickly and jumped onto the seventh floor, fanning out. The old man was standing still in the middle of the neat rows of graves, his Pokemon standing beside him protectively. As the grunts surrounded him, he did not look up although the Magmar snorted with barely concealed rage.

"Mr. Fuji. Surrender. This has gone on long enough." said Max confidently.

The old light revealed that the old man was praying. There was an awkward silence. Max was starting to think about just walking over and kicking the elderly trainer over when he spoke."

"I cannot defeat you by myself. My Magmar was strong once but now he is getting old." He turned around, looking at each grunts face in the dim flickering light produced by the Fire Pokemon present.

"I know why you are here. Take your associates and leave. The dead have no secrets to give you."

"There are jewels in the graves." said one of the grunts, looking at the stone caskets greedily.

"In a few, yes. Not all of them." sighed Mr. Fuji. It was obvious that the flight up the stairs had taken a lot out of him. This was no Pokemon master, just a grandpa who had some annoying Pokemon helping him out.

"What were those Pokemon?" asked Max, eying the Magmar carefully.

I will definitely be taking a few to the boss.

"A new species of Pokemon... They came from the rock beneath the tower one day and made their home up here, following their parents who were sick. We treated all of them but only one of the adults survived. I was going to have Professor..." he stopped, remembering who he was talking to.

"They are merely children. They play with the bones of the deceased. Grisly but innocent. I helped them defend their home against you thieves..."

"The whole world belongs to our leader. It just doesn't know it yet. We're not thieves, we're just taking our rightful place in Kanto one step at a time."

"You're all fools being used by a man who will discard you the second you are not needed."

"That may be true but what the fuck. It's fun." grinned Max. Mr. Fuji glared then withdrew his Magmar.

"Well, follow me then..."

They moved up to a stone column at the far end of the room. Max could see more of those ground Pokemon watching them from behind graves.

"Keep your Pokemon ready." hissed Max.

Mr. Fuji pulled on an ancient looking ornament. A stone slab slowly moved, revealing a passageway up. He led them up a tight staircase through the stone and they emerged in a small room than all of those preceding it on the floors below.

The top of the tower...

The room was furnished with polished wood and candles. Most striking were the large glassless windows, the only ones in the entire building. In one corner lay their objective, the officers. They were bound together and gagged but looked otherwise healthy. The lieutenant was sleeping, Daren was glaring at Max as if it was his fault.

"Untie them but leave them gagged. They'll do all their talking for the boss."

As two grunts did as he ordered, the rest started pulling artifacts from the walls and storing them in capsules.

"Nice room old man." said a voice behind Max quietly. Max instinctively ducked but the knife still jammed itself into his right shoulder.

"Not fast enough Maxxie!" laughed Alex, pulling the blade out and shoving Max to the floor.

The grunts froze, looking at their commander. Max writhed on the wooden panels, crying out in pain.

"Shut up." snarled Alex, kicking Max over. "I'll get to you." He picked up the bat he had set beside his feet, waving it in front of his mouth and licking it.

"It's not everyday I get a kill order... You can imagine my joy when our glorious leader decided you must die. Seems you take up orphaned Pokemon and run an extensive network of Pokemon rescue workers. You see, that doesn't run well with our business model of taking loose trainer Pokemon and selling them. Factor in your big mistake of capturing our associates and daring to make a radio report about it and..."

Alex stopped when he noticed The old man wasn't listening. He was looking above, almost anxiously. He seemed totally unconcerned about Alex's waving bat.

"Well, come on. Beg for your life. Offer me anything. Make this fun!" said Alex, taking a step forward. There was a roaring from above them, presumably a form of attic. Max slowly started to work on getting himself up.

No Alex... You won't get to me... You haven't won yet.

"Please, no... You'll upset her." said Mr. Fuji.

Alex moved in to swing and there was an explosion of wood, scattering sharp splinters into a number of grunts who shouted in pain. A very large brown rodent wielding a large bone. Rocket Pokemon charged in to fight the monster and Alex cried out as he saw Mr. Fuji move towards a window, ducking behind a large oak desk. He swung but was knocked to the side by the Marowak, which had spun with her bone around in a circle, taking out most of the Rocket pokemon assailing it in the process. The dreaded bat sailed through one of the many open windows out into the starry sky.

It was chaos, Mr. Fuji's Magmar erupting out of its ball to join the brawl. Nidorino tackled it head on, sending it out of a window to its doom. A grunt shouted with dismay as he was forced nearly to the edge of the sill by a thrown bone. Everywhere Rockets were darting about, shouting orders to their remaining Pokemon and avoiding the large Pokemon as it swung about with a new bone that had clattered down from above. Little rodents were crying loudly. Nobody dared to forget the windows.

Max ignored all of it. He tackled Alex and ground his head against a wooden wall but was shoved back. He had taken out the hatchet he swiped from the farm and was swinging at the blue haired psycho with his left arm. Alex dodged, sweeping Max's legs. The hatchet rose and Alex shifted, the swung weapon narrowly missing his neck but burying itself into his chest. Before Max could move Alex was ontop of his arm and a knife was in an arcing motion, coming down to his throat and... It stopped. Alex's eyes, which had been intently staring into Max's shifted to the stairwell where Mr. Fuji was making an escape.

It happened within a heartbeat. The knife arm had moved up, ready to throw the blade into the old man's back when the Pokemon jumped onto the both of them. The Marowak cried out in agony as the steel buried itself in her throat but she clawed at Alex's broken arm, pulling him to the windowsill with her. Alex screamed in terror and pain, clutching to a broken piece of the floor. The large Pokemon fell off of him, falling down the tower screaming in rage.

The Yellow commander looked up and saw Max standing over him, looking down at him as he dangled over the side of the tower. All at once the moment was there. Max did not waste it. The psychotic courage that had always driven Alex drained away from his face as Max put his foot down upon the hand holding him up. He fell screaming.

"I'LL SEE YOU IN HEELLLLLLLLLLLLLL"

Above them tiny rodent Pokemon started wailing and bells started to boom. Max gasped for breath as he surveyed the wreckage of the room. All of the grunts were there but none of the Pokemon had made it unscathed. Every single one of them lay unconscious after the assault of the monster of a Pokemon. All were promptly withdrawn.

"We're going. Now!" shouted Max, through gritted teeth. "Take the officers!!" He had to repeat himself to be heard over the bells clanging above them.

The green officers, who had been laying flat underneath a table during the battle, pulled themselves out. Max raced down the stairs first, ignoring the growing wailing throughout the tower. That was when he realized that with all of the Fire Pokemon fainted, nobody had any light.

The darkness of the Pokemon tower was absolute.

***************************************************************

"Only the death of one pure and one, well, not pure can open this passage to the underworld." spoke Kat quietly behind her mask. Wex was floating in the air and totally helpless. Kat tossed a Pokeball and a small Clefairy popped out. It cheerily waved at the two dark uniformed figures innocently. It probably was wondering why one was wearing a suit.

"Pure. Now I don't need to know much about you to see that you're not a clean soul. Still..."

She invaded his mind. Ripping through memories, Wex could hear her thoughts as well.

Oh yes, you have been pretty bad... Wex is it? What's your first name? Oh, too well guarded to bother. You're going to die anyway so what does it matter what you call yourself? Yes, you'll do...

She pulled out a long, ornate dagger. She examined the tip and looked at him curiously.

"Bad spot of luck, you being the one who fell on my trap... Life is just one big circus after all. Too bad nobody will ever talk about the end of your show..."

The knife floated up with psychic power. Wex felt strangely at peace.

You. Are. Going. To. Die.

Yet the sensation of being weightless in the air and the feeling of another mind inside his own made him feel totally at ease when he really shouldn't be. Her power was too great...

"Go... to... hell..." he said softly. He could feel the power behind the knife starting to move towards him and...

The gateway burst open, rocks showering the both of them. The Clefairy screamed and skittered away. Wex rose slowly, coughing as the dirt and rocks gradually stopped showering him. Kat Clement was already on her feet.

"Hmmm... Looks like someone forced it open for me. How nice of them. Must have been something rather tragic..." she sniffed, looking at the dark tunnel before them.

"Well Wex, I have no further need of you." she moved her hand. "Your exit is open. Go. Now."

Wex was about to turn when a torrent of cold wind came from the open passageway. They both gazed into the abyss. Then there was a rush of laughing and screaming as dark clouds flowed forward swiftly.

Fucking... FUCKING GHOSTS!

They moved in a noxious cloud, a few slipping in and out of Wex's mind as Kat had giving him visions of death and sorrow. They were all laughing at his fear. Kat has moved into the tunnel.

"Where are you going?" shouted Wex as the onslaught of ghosts poured through the tunnel into the tower behind him.

"You'll see someday. I know it." said Kat, sending a psychic push that turned him around and made him fall into the rocks beneath his feet. When he rose she was gone. Fortunately the white light from the runestones remained working. Grabbing a glowing shard of the destroyed wall, he climbed shakily back to the hole where he had fallen in. Ghosts swirled around him.

Get... out... Get... out...

"I'm TRYING!"

They only laughed at him harder.

"Focus on the mission." Max said through the darkness.

Scott shrugged and followed the group up the stairs, his Meowth perched on his shoulder. Being one of the last grunts to the top floor Max was already interrogating the old man and grunts were untying the superiors of Green Team. A moment later Alex brushed past him toward Alex. "Asshole is in a coma while we do all the hard work, now he shows up to take all the glory." Scott mumbled. All of a sudden Alex unsheathed a dagger and plunged it into Max's shoulder, but before anyone could react the roof blew apart sending huge splinters of wood everywhere. Scott was one of the lucky one not to be impaled.

"Meowth, get in that and hurt something!" Scott turned to see the Luitenant fighting with the Commander. It was an all out brawl. Scott was hard pressed to watch both fights but has to keep his attention on his own Pokemon. His Meowth, much like the other Rocket's Pokemon, didn't stand a chance. Before he knew it, it had already fainted and Scott withdrew it back into its ball. Turning back the Luitenant and the Commander he noticed that the Commander was no where to be seen and that Max was peering over out one of the windows.

"We're going. Now!"

Scott hurried back down the stairs into the cold dark, he couldn't see five inches infront of his face. "Now what ...?"

The top of the tower! She almost wanted to laugh, but restricted herself to a smirk instead as the lieutenant confronted the old man. No where left for him to run now. She busied herself gathering some loot along with the others.

And there were the green officers.

Strange..she didn't feel as much loyalty to them as she expected. Not since the yellow crew had rolled in. The yellow lieutenant had thus far displayed finer leadership than they had. Though she was wondering where his commander was-

And then it happened. THe commander revealing he'd been there all along, hidden in the dark and HOLY SHIT he just stabbed the lieutenant in the back. Literally. Anyone watching her face would have noticed her eyes visibly widen, even behind her safety goggles...And suddenly the wounds she'd seen on Ellie began to make a lot more sense. The Yellow Commander was batshit bonkers!

Before she could muse further on the violent politics of yellow command, the chaos erupted. Misery and her unnamed rocket issue Koffing were downed in short order. Again thankful for her safety goggles, avoiding debris altogether was nonetheless impossible. There were cuts here and there about her person, largely due being knocked onto the remaining fragments of one of the many urns broken in the chaos. Memo to self. Obtain better quality gloves. Hand injuries were the worst and her left one was definately cut.

Something moved past her while she was on the floor, heading for the stairs. Fuji! The old snake still wasn't done?! This was the most insane assignment she'd had since joining by a mile.

She scrambled towards the stairs, the way things were going, they'd need to beat a swift exit themselves in a minute or so. She didn't plan to get left behind when it happened. Pulling herself upright near the stairs, she turned to look at the state of affairs...in time to see the final few plays of Max and Alex's throwdown. She wasn't entirely sure what to think about this, except that at least the sane one was clearly in command now. And his first use of that was the order to get the hell out. This was a command she could get behind as she hurried back down the stairs, only a few grunts from the front of the pack.

She briefly wondered who the new lieutenant would be. MAybe the girl who's machoke had been clearing the way? Or perhaps the big guy with the meowth-

"Gah, sorry."

-who she might have just bumped into. Whoever she just apologised to had felt pretty solid. She couldn't be sure in the dark though. For now, she'd just shuffle along with the rest of the pack. Wandering off would be insane right now.

Mayu had quickly hurried up to the top of the tower with the others. She definitely wanted to get back at the bone-throwing Pokemon that had attacked them before, but when she finally reached the top of the tower, she saw a scene that was completely different from what she had expected. Max had been peacefully negotiating with the old man, who didn't seem all that bad, when Alex showed up to stab Max in the shoulder with a knife. This made the young girl squeak in fear, since she didn't know what to do.

She wanted to help him, and had started to make her way over when there was the sound of an explosion from above. Splinters and debris flew everywhere, and covering up her face with her arms and ducking down with a short scream was all she could do to protect herself. She was cut in various places and all of them burned, but she knew that she was still okay. None of the cuts were worrying and she was able to get back up, painfully. Her eyes were wet with tears, but she constantly reminded herself that she was a Rocket now, and Rockets didn't cry.

Her attention was brought back to the scene at hand by the yells of a few Rockets. The large Pokemon was making a mess of the Rockets and it seemed like things were pretty bad for them. Her Vulpix was doing its best to attack the Pokemon from afar but the attacks only seemed to make it angry. Then, it happened.

The large Pokemon suddenly ignored the numerous attacks against it and moved to attack Max and Alex. It didn't last long though. Mayu couldn't see what happened to it, but the Pokemon suddenly looked like it was in pain and was pushed to the window, but not before taking Alex with it. She thought that Max was going to try and save the Commander but without hesitating, Max used his foot to push the Commander's grip away. She could hear Alex screaming something, but she couldn't hear what. She was more shocked about what Max had done.

It was then she realized that this was the world of the Rockets. To do whatever it took to get to the top. She would have to do the same in order to rise up. On Max's order, she moved for the stairs. Each movement reminded her of the cuts on her body, but she knew that she could endure at least this much.

Scott was standing in the dark waiting for a response when he felt someone walk into the back of him. "Gah, Sorry." spoke a female voice, an apology? It definately wasn't Leels or Ellie... too big to be Mayu.

"Who is that? I can't see a damn thing down here. Let's try to stay together."

Scott shuffled forward.

"It's Addison." She paused a moment before adding, "I've got a labcoat." It was after all, the most immediately distinct piece of her appearance.

She reached out with her good hand and got a light grip on Scott's shoulder, so as not to lose him in the dark. "Lead the way, I'm right behind you."

She shuffled after him, not entirely sure where the rest of the group had gotten to. She could hear a few of them now and then, but in the total darkness and the echoey chambers of the tower it became quite hard to tell where they were all coming from.

"It's Addison... I've got a labcoat."

Scott nodded in acknowledgement depite it being completely redundant in the pitch black.

"Ah, the new Green Girl, bad ass Gloom you've got there. I'm Scott."

Scott then noticed a hand on his shoulder, assuming it was Addison's, he proceeded to shuffle forward in the dark. He still couldn't see two inches infront of his face but hoped for th ebest as he walked. All of a sudden he slammed his shin into something incedibly hard. "FUCK! ugh... Son of a *****." Scott felt around the tombstone until there was a gap in the row and continued forward. The area seemed to be getting colder, Scott would probably be able to see his breath if there was just a sliver of light.
