"Ghosts? That's a rather odd thing to ask me. Wonder what's up with him."

Derek then noticed that he was wearing a team rocket uniform. The bright red R on his uniform gave it away.

"Wonder if he knows what I'm supposed to be doing."

"While I can't ward off those that do not exist, You just have to keep telling yourself that those that do not exist cannot harm you. It has also come to my attention that you are a member of Team Rocket. I have just joined the team myself and they sent me here with nary a word as to what to do once I get here. Would you have any idea?"

Having restocked her bag and found a glass of water to wash down the ramen, Addison was thoughtful as she walked back towards the lounge. Was there anything she was forgetting? No doubt Max would want to move them on soon and so the opening for obtaining anything from here was rapidly closing.

Walking past another nurse and a chansey, which gave her a wide berth, much like every other nurse in this place, inspiration struck. The Chansey eggs! There was already plenty of documented material on their status as being tasty and nutritious. It'd be an excellent base to start mixing some manner of pick-me-up from. Long term you could potentially engineer a way to improve the taste of narcotics..she'd need a decent lab for that though. Not something she had right now...And of course, as a last resort, you could also eat them and it'd be a damn sight better tasting meal than the much disdained instant ramen she'd had with Ellie and Wex.

Making a u-turn before returning to the lounge, she made her way to the head nurse's office. She grinned as she let herself in and sat herself down in front of the desk, smirking at the apprehensive woman on the other side of it.

"Relax. I'm not going to hurt you. Long as you're not stupid anyway." She continued to smile on observing that this did very little to calm the nerves of the head nurse.

"How many Chanseys you got here? My commander's told us to take what we can. Now I used to work in the Viridian centre, so I know a few things about how good chansey eggs are. So here's my offer. Go get the eggs from each of you chanseys and give 'em to me. They only take a day or so to make new ones right? No huge loss for you. I won't even take the chanseys themself. Why would you kill the golden goose?" Addison's smile grew into more a snarl, menacing and cruel. "But see, if you aren't inclined to work with me here on this little arrangement..I'll have to go tell my commander that you're holding out on us. That wouldn't make him very happy you know? In fact, it might make him so unhappy that he'd order us to come in here and take all the chanseys when we leave. Which would be problematic for everyone as I'm sure you realise. You wouldn't have any chanseys, they probably wouldn't fork over eggs willingly. Things'd get violent, you join the dots."

Addison grinned again. "So what's it gonna be? Are you gonna give me some eggs for the road, or are we going to have to...scramble them ourselves." She put her feet up on the desk while waiting for an answer. "Please don't be stupid. I hate stupid decisions."

The nurse, already shaken from some earlier experiences with rowdy grunts who had reluctantly left after receiving orders, complied quietly. The Rockets were taking everything and nobody was stopping them...

* * * *

"Look at these bruises." said Wex, showing an arm. "I got those in the tower. The big tower up the street? It's haunted. Ask anyone who went in there."

He sighed. This Green grunt was odd. His uniform was a bit askew and his eyes had a penetrating gaze to them.

"I've had enough psychic experiences for a long time. Listen, if you want orders go find Max. Or Boris."

He smirked a little.

"I get the feeling he'll get a promotion."

The blank expression Derek gave him made him sigh.

"Big goon, probably drunk and with one of the girls outside."

I hope he leaves me alone.

Ellie stood up and cracked her fingers, brushing past a new Green grunt who had walked in. She had to get some sleep before they started moving again, even if she wasn't tired. She grabbed one of the cushions off of the couch, tossing it over her shoulder and exiting the Center. She found the first looted house and snuck in, closing and barring the door. The pillow kicked up some dust when it hit the carpet, but Ellie didn't care. She curled up and closed her eyes, counting the seconds that ticked by on the clock.

"Well at least I know who's in charge now. Those bruises are very real though and he doesn't seem like he's lying. Now does that just make him crazy or did such a thing actually happen? It doesn't seem like he wants to talk about it so I will avoid the subject and ask him about this green team."

"Well it seems like you went through a lot in the tower so I won't have you relive the experience anymore. You can help me though, do you happen to know where the green team is? Only clue I have as to what to do here is that I was told I am a member of green team. I'd rather not go and ask this max or boris."

Just then his stomach rumbled very audibly. Derek just closed his eyes in shock that it would happen at such a time.

"I'm sorry about that, I haven't eaten in a day and I lack the money to get food."

It's always nice when people see it your way. After coercing the agreement out of the head nurse, Addison now had a small stock of chansey eggs on hand. Not as many as one might like, Lavender Town being a pretty small town with a pretty small pokemon centre accordingly. But that was okay. 4 eggs were more than enough. 2 for whipping up some kind of medicine or pick me up or...something. She'd try a few different things. As for the other two...she could maybe curry some favour with the other grunts by cooking one up. Better taste than R Bars for starters. The eggs were a pretty decent size after all. But at least one of them....well, she was going to hang onto that one for now. Just in case.

Settling in to an empty medical room, Addison set about devising and mixing up a few prototype mixtures with the chansey eggs while they were still here. Nothing very complex, all the mixtures were very rudimentry and probably quite similar to the old method of cracking a bunch of eggs into a glass and "drinking" it for the most part, with a little addition of this or that and a bit more mixing to bring it to the next level. Anything more complicated would have to wait until she had a better lab set up and more time, but these few mixtures were still a good base on which to build and they'd still work well enough for now.

It was unlikely she was going to get much sleep tonight. But that's the price you pay for spending half your sleeping time mixing up homebrew medicine.

"Green team is pretty much dead, if I were you I'd try to pass myself on as a Yellow Team member. The officers are almost dead after what our boys did to them and they still have to go to headquarters."

Seeing that the new guy wasn't budging.

"Fine, we'll deal with it when the sun goes down. Just pick a bench and fall asleep. Tomorrow we might be pulling out of this shithole."

I really hope so.

Even inside the Pokemon center, he could feel the tower outside looming over them. Wex stretched and closed his eyes. Whatever was going to happen, he hoped someone else could be the scapegoat.

After several hours, Addison made her way out of the medical lab and made her way to the relative quiet of the staff's break room. Glaring at the nurses currently present inside, she made it abundantly clear that she'd like the room to herself. Once that was achieved, she flopped down on the couch and attempted to get her snooze on.

I say attempted because her already limited sleeping time in this case was plagued by a nightmare involving ghostly nurses. As a result she rose a little earlier than she'd intended, scowling at the spare nurse uniform hanging on a rack inside the break room.

In order to shake the drowsiness off, she tried one of her newly concocted Chansey-egg drinks. Pretty good. The egg flavour was a little strong maybe, but otherwise it was quite tasty and gave her a very satisfied feeling afterwards.

Making her way back outside, now feeling wide awake thanks to her recently brewed pick-me-up. They'd probably be on the move soon, although you'd never know it due to all the grunts who'd overdone the celebrations and were sleeping it off on the ground outside. She thought of one of the 2 eggs she still had left and made her way to one of the nearby houses, commandeering the kitchen and making a large batch of scrambled egg from one of the large chansey eggs. And now there was just one egg left. But she intended to keep that one for herself for now.

Eating her fill of the scramble, which wasn't even a quarter of it given the size of the eggs, she scooped the rest into some bowls and opened the door, looking out at the various goons laid out about the place. "Hey, if any of you want breakfast before we get orders, now's your chance, take it or leave it." She stood in the doorway, watching as a few of them stirred. Yes. This was what she was looking for. A good chance to get in the good books with a decent portion of the yellow crew. Make herself look like one of the only things Green still has going for it. Get herself an impromptu transfer perhaps... She smiled. It promised to be a good day.

Ellie woke up before the sun as all the way down. A cool breeze came through the door, pushing it open a little, and letting the last of the day's light inside. It was almost time to march again, almost time to leave Lavender. She got off the couch and stretched. Sore, still feeling a little bad, but nothing big. But if last night had taught her anything, it was that she wasn't as good as she could be. Her body was weak, and there was only one thing to do about it.

Ellie got out of the house and started doing laps around the town, jumping over a few Rockets who had had too much happy juice. She had to go faster, she had to run until it hurt, and run some more if shr wanted to get better. And no one wanted to be better more than her. She ran faster, pushing her limits in terms of speed and endurance.

On about the fourth or fifth lap, she noticed some guys hanging around and eating... something. Smelled like eggs. Ellie stopped, combing her sweaty hair back with her fingers. "Hey, where'd'ya get the grub?"
"Some chick was giving it away. All gone now though, sweetheart. You snooze-" Ellie punched him in the neck, catching his bowl. "You lose." She finished, stuffing the food in her mouth. The boy was probably mad, but right now she bet he was more concerned with breathing. Some of the Rockets nearby took the oppurtunity to loot through the boy's pockets, like dogs, scavenging what little he had on him. It was expected. Not only was the boy young, but he was from the Green team. It didn't take much more convincing than that for them to take the easy target. She threw the bowl away and continued her run for a few more hours, stopping only when the sun went down and the lights turned on.

Finally she stopped, doubled over, and unable to feel her calves. Fuck, her thighs hurt. She retreated back into the house she slept in, testing to see if the water... yes, the water worked! She took a quick shower to get rid of the smell and dust.
