Yeah, but this is the interent, friend. most people think its okay to be an asshole here.

But as to the point of this thread, I have some comments. Many people found the gameplay hard to pick up and confusing. Those of you who have quoted this problem, did you watch the cutscenes? They mention several things about your units that are pretty damn useful. Use your unit's double team attacks. Razor Girl squads do more damage when they use Eddie as a firing platform and fire off bursts instead of single shots. The Thunderhog's soothing bass can be amplified to mellowing stun frequencies. Need to clear the area around a wounded unit? Hop onto a roadie and blast some feedback their way. And don't forget the StoneCrusher, the last unit you unlock. Its double team is necessary for one of the last missions in the game, and it one-shots everything, as far as I know. Plus, if you find yourself dying after two hits from enemy infantry, you probably haven't gone around using your pyrotechincs attack on the stone statues of dragons scattered about the landscape. These are bound serpents, children of Ormagoedden. For every ten you free, you get another upgrade for either your own health, an aura that gives units near you regen, a flight speed boost, or a regen boost for yourself. Also, if you find the statues buried in the ground with the red flowers growing around them that signify that you can use the Relic Raiser solo there, do it. Each one gives you Fire Tributes and a new song for your car's radio, The Mouth of Metal, purchasable from the Motor Forge, which you also have to use Relic Raiser to get into. Additionally, if you find little clouds of electric glowing bugs flying around, ramp off seomthing in your car and go through them. These are Sparkplug Bugs and are worth Fire Tributes. Another tip, using the skull-shaped veiwfinders in the world both show off the truly epic metal landscape, and give you more Fire Tributes. I mention Fire Tributes a lot because its the currency for the overworld. You buy upgrades from Ozzy Osborne at the shop, the Motor Forge, with them. And remember, you only get a few solos running through the story missions. Do side missions like the Hunter's Overkill stuff, and just traverse the Brutal Land for solo altars. Stuff like the Rally Flag, Anvil of Burden, Rock Block, the Facemelter, and my personal favorite, Call of the Wild, all these things are extremely useful, so heed my advice well, little ones, and go forth. Go forth and conquer!

Well, I played the Battle of Bladehenge earlier tonight and it was ok - kind of hectic, but I managed to pull through alright. We'll see how it goes when the battles get bigger, although it'll get better when
I can fly around the battlefield.

And on a sidenote

The fight with the Spider Queen was pretty sweet, if not terribly inspired (the standard "wait until the weak spot is exposed" formula). And rounding up the razorhogs to be gutted was fun. It's so badass that the entrails of these motorcycle/boar hybrids can be fashioned into guns!

The only battle I had to attempt more than twice was the final battle against Lionwhyte. As for the final battle against the Drowing Doom. They have a bunch of units camped on the bridge. I found what worked best was to camp my troops at the mouth of the bridge. Then use the deuce to draw them back to my awaiting units. Once they're all dead you move up with the rock crusher (make sure you have a full army that includes 2 or 3 head splitters first waiting at the mouth of the bridge. Destroy the towers and back the tank up to the mouth of the bridge. The tree is powerful but even it can't take out an entire army. Also it helps to chip away at it using the deuce's homing missles since they have the longest range.

You really do need all the solos. Especially the face melter.

This map has the location of all of them. I don't know how anyone whose been following brutal legends development could be surprised that there were rts elements in it. They even said the multiplayer was the first thing they developed.
yeah, the facemelter! it´s probably the most useful spell in battles. it also helps to use the battle cry frequently to boost up your troops, it really makes a difference. bring it home is also great, but seems to look more spectacular than it´s effective.
Oh it's effective alright. It's just kind of hard to get out in the middle of the strong units unless you've got an army surrounding you.

The one thing I bet a lot of people DON'T use (or don't have, I found it after I beat the fight), is the solo that negates all enemy buffs and debuffs (it's name escapes me...). That is the BEST solo for fighting the Drowning Doom since that's mostly what makes them annoying, making YOU weak. Though Facemelter works just as well. Apparently it even kills the trees with the crows >.>

They can be hard, the last one requires a bit more effort than the rest.

But I didn't really have any trouble with them, the trick is, for me, to send in all your troops at the beginning of the match, supporting them with the deuce. This doesn't work that well against the Drowning Doom, their anti-infantry troops will tear apart your Head Bangers and Razor Girls, so you have to take them apart in advanced. But it tends to work.

I only really call the last fight challenging is because half way through a bunch of heavy issue vehicles turn up that you really need to use the Bladehenge attack to destroy or they'll take all your Fan Geysers and overwhelm your stage.
I actually found the drowning doom harder than the final battle... that stupid tree kept killing everything I sent at it, including my rock crusher.
Rock Crusher + Double Team = TIMBER. Seriously, using the Rock Crusher's double team on the last battle will TEAR that stage apart.

I suspect its a marketing thing. This is a game going going for a big, broad audience of people who like heavy metal, people who like Jack Black, and people who like comedy knockabout games. Saying the phrase "RTS" to someone who doesn't own a gaming pc will conjure thoughts of horrifically awkward Command and Conquer ports and obsessive starcraft players. If they were releasing this game as a PC exclusive, they'd probably be playing up the RTS aspects.

The only battle i had problems with was the last battle, since i simply rushed on one of the heads and wasn't prepered for the huge amount of vehicles that spawned right after i destroyed it. the next time i had a huge army before i destoyed anything and used the rockcrusher on each of the vehicles and this time it was easy.
Not even the tree stands a chance against it's coop-attack.

I found the most useful solos to be inferno (if you send your uinits in to distract the enemies) or the face melter. You should cast Rock block right after to hinder their spawning of new enemies.
