For me the beauty of FF7 was that Cloud spoke like a grizzled tough guy even though he was about 14, and Barrett Sounded EXACTLY like Mr. T, can you imagine FFX level voice acting on that game? I want Christian Bale doing Cloud and Morgan Freeman doing Red. Shit man, anything worth doing, worth doing right.

If they remade it, it would ruin it completly. Because it is what it is warts and all. I'm not being a purist but how can you recreate that feeling you got when you first left Midgar or jacked your first car in GTA3 it's not nostalgia it's just fact. Same with games like Deus Ex or Thief. A reimagining of a game can be cool like Resident Evil did but I feel the same way I do about movie remakes. Which is don't bother (except for The Thing that movie fucking ruled)

Everybody has there fave classic game but what would you guys like to see revamped ?
I myself would like to see Final Fantasy 7 redone loved that game all of the ones after just fell a bit short for me.
This choice just ruined this entire thread for me.. The reason FF7 sucks is because of fanboys like this!(EVERYONE PLEASE TAKE A EXAMPLE FROM THIS POOR FOOL) Squenix survives off the tears of FF7 fanboys.. The only reason they still exist today is because of that.. And you honestly think they will give you FANBOYS what you want? HELL NO! They will milk you until theres not a drop left! (SEE SONIC FANBOYS) Sonic people are starting to feel the affects of the loss of the past almost 20 years by waiting for a "Good" Sonic game to come out.. Same way Duke Nukem fans have been feeling the effects of DNF! In time FF7, in time you will realize what i have said here.. But there is just no way to show you without you being ignorant fanboys and completely blowing me off.. Oh well.. At least i tried..
LOL I love how much people are getting there pantys in a twist because ive said id like to see a game revamped .I wouldnt consider myself a fanboy, played it when i was younger and realy enjoyed it. As for milking me i dont think so i havent bought a ff game since 8 as i know how far it has fallen.
But you are entitlied to you opinion so i salute you sir !!

X-Wing, Tie Figher, Wing Commander series..
A remake of the entire space sim/shooter genre. I'm not too picky as long as they make it happen.

I have no faith in Square's ability to remake FF7. With Advent Children and the descending pool of J-Pop ridden, teen angst, lolita complex games that have come since FF7 they have lost all of my faith in their ability to tell a story.

Mechwarrior 3. No more of the wanky cartoony look for mechs, and no more 'you're the heir and your family is dead' or whatnot. I loved them for basing mech 3 around a single planetary operation, with your lance as a small part of a larger objective. and when bits of it go to shit and bits of it dont, it just made it so much more acceptable.

So yes, they need mechwarrior 3, with more varied terrain and missions, and updated graphics. I'm gonna say that the voice acting was already stellar, minus some of the smoke jaguar communications.

Has anyone else ever played this game?

Because the internet cares what I have to say.
Try mechwarrior living legends, I've still not had a chance to give it the attention it seems to deserve, but it seems awesome thusfar.

I'd like to see more old style games redone with modern graphics, grand theft auto springs to mind (sort of like chinatown wars, the old top down play style, but with more of the classic gameplay and less of the new touchscreen stuff). I agree with whoever said metal gear solid, however I'm still content to play through it as it was on the psx. I guess the big game I'd like to see redone (and updated) is Alien vs Pretador 2, the new AvP game (at least the demo) feels like a low budget console title that's been poorly ported to PC, the multiplayer feels...wrong (the auto aim, lack of larvae aliens, lack of pouncing as aliens etc), hopefully they'll get the singeplayer better but at this stage I don't have high hopes.

Erm... I'd really like Bioware and EA to remake the Mass Effect trilogy on the PS3, all on one disk with the graphics and gameplay of the 3rd game. Then I could play through the entire trilogy without disk swapping or save importing.
Obviously I'd have already completed the series several times over on the 360 before this is released. I'd still snap it up in a second though.

Outcast would be nice, it's a pain in the ass to get it to behave properly on modern PC's.

Know what... I had hope that I'd read the OP, and it wouldn't be a thread about FFVII.

Since I just had my hopes ground to dust, Mr Fanboy OP, allow me to direct your attention here: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/98084-FF13-Producer-Explains-Why-FF7-Remake-is-Unlikely
LOL thanks for the kick in the balls ,what would you like to see be done ?
You're most certainly welcome!! hehe!

As for what I want to see SE pull their fingers out and get stuck into: Kingdom Hearts 3. I don't like the idea of re-making games. Always the possibility of some idiot getting their hands on what was a fabulous game, and destroying it completely.

If I absolutely insisted on a remake of any game? Final Fantasy 6, with 3D modelling. Final Fantasy 7 would also be awesome, but I'd like to see 6 made more.
I'd support this but if the DS FFIV was anything to go by they'd make it unfun.
Good point, I retract my statement.

Frontier. An old, old game played on... 8, 9 floppy discs? But that thing was the shiz. Challenging, and fun with hat element of This is Impossible! that draws me to games. Revamp the graphics and make it better for dialogue and actually have voice acting... well taht thing would the awesome.

No, no, no. ONE floppy disc! Frontier is one of the all time greats when it comes to assembly optimization. It's even PLAYABLE off a single Amiga 880KB disk! The executable weighs in around 400K. Consider that there are 100 billion systems in the playable universe (although only one or two thousand of them are interesting). And some nice classical MIDI music :)

I'm not sure that kind of genius can be easily reproduced. Even less so in a modern triple A incarnation.

But yeah, if it could be done, I'd certainly play it.

I stand corrected... Admittedly I only ever played it at my friends house... and it was awesome. Wait... doesn't something that awesome on so little data break the laws of physics or something?

Eternal Darkness SR could go for an overhaul/redo.

Or a freakin' sequal!

Silicon Knights really do have the greatest fear of making a shitload of money.

There are lots of games that would benefit from a purely visual upgrade (mind you, not makeover) and be released online.

I'm thinking Beyond Good and Evil, Psychonauts, Shadow of the Collosus...

Just smoothen the edges a bit and they will be even better.

Shadow Of the Colossus and ICO need to be revamped right now! Do it like they did with God Of War 1&2 and make it a collection. Same goes for Shenmue, and Yakuza 1&2.

On the other hand let's not suggest that ANY Zelda game gets remade because they've been basically doing that since 1981.
