Alot of us have that one gem or elite few that we always come back to, games we can sink tons of hours into, pokemon, oblivion, WoW, street fighter, games with more content that you thought could fit on a disc or more hours of entertainment than $40 would buy you.
Are there not enough games like that?
Do most games just not have enough content for the money?
What games do yo just keep playing, and where do you stand?

For me: Disgaea series, FF Tactics advance, Fire Emblems 6,7,8 for GBA, MGS4, and demon's souls/dark souls
EDIT: Smash bros, Tekken & Soul cal, and MvC 2&3 all fit on the list but were mostly played multiplayer.
Hours on my old gold, ruby, and diamond probably add up to 800-900 hours of grinding, breeding, and A button mashing (even though it never helped)
Fire emblems aren't even accurate b/c it only records your successes i.e. it doesn't record all the times you had to restart b/c someone died... but suffice to say I've spent enough time playing them that I hacked it and made an all starts version with my favorite characters /w a hex editor

I don't need many games like that. I think these are really more for kids who have more free time than they know what to do with.

World of Warcraft: ~15,000 hours (Yes, really. I quit a year ago though. >_<)
Fallout 3: 600 hours
Europa Universalis 3: ~480 hours
Killing Floor: ~290 hours
Saints Row 2: 135 hours

There are many more.... but those are my big ones.

Hm. Final Fantasy 9, Kingdom Hearts 2 (I did everything. EVERYTHING.) and Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud 2 if you're silly) come to mind. Oh, and Pokemon of course.

Current gen? Nothing really comes to mind, other than say Fallout/Oblivion. And they still don't have 99+ hours in them for me.

I want more ridiculously long games. Well, games that I can make ridiclously long.

Tales of Symphonia:
At least 200 hours.

Resident Evil 4:
Well over 50 completed playthroughs.

Resident Evil 5:
With my friend I play it with, there is nothing more we can do in that game.

Pokemon Soulsilver:
About 150 hours.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3:
About 160 hours of gameplay. Can't wait for Ultimate.

Probably Battlefront 2. I've said this on the review, but even though I couldn't complete the campaign I was able to spend many hours on it. Probably because you can play each battle as a different kind of soldier.

For me, it'd be Deus Ex and Iji. I know they're not very long, but they're the only games I'll play again when they're finished. It's rare that I find another game like that.

I don't think games with lots of content or replay ability are just for kids, probably the opposite as i would guess kids have lower standards for quality and shorter attention spans.

but regardless of what is and is not for kids, I would much rather have fewer longer games, than more short games, especially if i have to buy them, and even more so if they cost the same. You can only play one game at a time anyway.

At the risk of sounding like a troll and getting flamed: why buy modern warfare 2 or black ops when you would be just as happy playing CoD4:MW for the same amount of time, and saved upwards of $120? --------- THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE ---------- you can spend your time and money however you like.

Oblivion: over 200 hours
Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life: over 100 hours
Mass Effect 1 and 2: over 150 hours
Sonic Adventure: Over 80 hours

A little ashamed I had what could be considered an early, somewhat better farmville addiction.

pokemon yellow, Gold, Ruby, and pearl - atleast 800 hours if not more

Runescape- 1500+ hours i believe

Call of Duty 4 - 700 hours

Battlefield bad company 2 - 200 hours

I played all of those games a stack, and i think we need more super time killers like those.

Oblivion: Clocked about 200+ hours on that game. On my Nord Paladin, I decided to do well...everything.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time. I play and beat that game at least once a year so...I probably have clocked quite a few hours on it.

Morrowind: See oblivion, except with a dark elf rogue warrior hybrid thing.

WoW: this one....is quite bad(not the game). I logged in so far over 150 days worth of time(thats only on my main too), so about 3600 hours of play...and no I did not just sit in org/shat/dal flying around or talking to people the majority of the time =P.

I think most games need more replayability to be worth the cost of the game. I can understand 20$ indie titles not having tons of challange modes and stuff, but really, some of our more "finaincially stable" companies should not have a reason to not add those games modes.(I can understand time restraints and even budgeting).
