So which movie, show, book made you root for the bad guy even thought you probably weren't suppose to

I feel that for the better half of Bayonetta, cheering for a Stripping witch, who summons hellspawn from her hair/clothes, to fight angels may have been a bit morally ambiguous. I also cheered for the hunter robot with the dog on that one episode of Samurai Jack. Lulu... sweet thing.

Generally all the slasher movies. You know the villain is going to be killed so you root him on to kill as many people as possible until then.

I spent most of Fable wanting Jack of Blades to win.

I was shocked when at the end of The Lost Chapters it turns out someone at lionhead thought the exact some thing. It's a shame he was carted off to be shot when it came to sequel time, along with everyone else with good ideas. My Jack wouldn't have stood for that sort of bull. Some hallucination followed by a single gunshot does NOT constitute a final boss.

Also the killer in most teen horror films, having to put up with a bunch of stupid loud annoying teenagers for 2 hours. I bet half of them start out fine and it's only after about 20 minutes of being near the main characters that they get violent urges.

Hazama is a troll, knows it, and loves every second of it. How could I not root for the guy?

I am with you there, I always root for the slasher and cheer those stupid teens on to get into his way. Whats the point of cheering for the victims, they are so stupid. "some one got slashes up by a mask wearing machete wielding psycho" other victim "we should go check it out" you should't cheer for the idiots.

Yeah, this. So much.

Hazama makes me smile whenever I see him. Epic troll is epic win.

I can't say I've ever had a time where I've ever rooted for the antagonist.

While I never wanted Jack to win, mainly because he's a douche, and that it would've meant I lost; I would've liked for them to have brought him back for Fable II. Mainly because he's a much better villain then Lucien, which isn't saying much.

Pretty much most of the time.

Cobra = way cooler outfits and theme than GI Joe.
Skeletor = Way cooler than He-Man. Also, has a skullface.
Etc, etc.

In fact, you can pretty much blame this effect on 80's cartoons. For me, at least.

In my first playthrough of Arcanum I was a good natured necromancer, upon meeting Kerghan, who then proceeded to share his philosophy, I myself became the "antagonist".

Then we killed everyone in the world. To stop all the suffering of course...

Well "antagonist" doesn't mean "bad guy" all the time. L is the antagonist in Death Note, but few people would argue that he was the bad guy in that series.

I was actually rooting for Light throughout Death Note (not because I agree with him mind you), but he's actually the protagonist even though he's arguably evil, so I don't really know how to answer.

I'm pretty someone could throw a soggy beermat at you and you'd still prefer it to Lucien. I spent most of my time during in Fable 2 wondering where the hell scythe and the gang were, there were some awesome characters they missed out on.

All those cereal mascots like the rabbit from Trix or the Lucky Charms leprechaun. Seriously, after decades of just trying to get their cereal, and being foiled every time forever, imagine the gratification if one of them finally succeeded. That would be one of the happiest moments in television history.

Okay, so some of them aren't really antagonists, but it makes enough sense.

The movie Cool Dog. They should have gotten away and Cool Dog should have stayed dead.
