Times you should have listened to that review?

The Conduit

I assumed it was simply another case of reviewers bashing on a hyped Wii game that wasn't nearly as bad or mediocre as their reviews said it was. My assumption, however, was wrong.

Same as you OP Brawl. I usually respect what Yahtzee has to say but rarely do I ever let a reveiwer deter me from buying a game. But man... I hated brawl. Like OP I loved Melee on Gamecube, but couldn't stand brawl and after 30 minutes put it down and have not touched it since. Worst $30 I ever spent.

This is why I hate the Wii.

Final Fantasy XII. 40/40 Famitsu score my ass. I hated everything in that game that wasn't Basch and Balthier.

Subverted with No More Heroes. I shouldn't have listened to any reviewer on it, because they're all wrong.

I really should have rented Batman: Arkham Asylum, though. I should have lended Spoony more credence on the issue of replayability. Traded it back in for a fraction of its original price. Damn it all.

Aliens Vs. Predator
That said... I do have a hankering to play it again. If only because the recent Predators movie makes the game look like a fucking masterpiece.
See that's a game I am glad I DIDN'T listen to reviews, brought it coz I am a fan of Predator and to a lesser extent alien(s), while it's by no means a great game, I did enjoy myself with it.

So it's not just me, it really didn't hold a candle to Melee on the cube? I spent ages on that game rounding up trophies and stuff, but brawl, I'll be suprised if I pick it up again.

C&C4. I knew i should've avoided it, but i just wanted to know how the series ended.... With a shitty combat system and a plot that didn't actually explain anything.

Oh, wow, Lost Oddyssey! This is gonna be sick!

After five hours of playing it, I had very nearly died. No, seriously. That game almost killed me.

There's a game I really wanted to enjoy... till I played for like.. an hour, before the intro credits even started rolling, then I started hearing alarm bells.

Spore. I should have watched Yahtzee.

I would still have gotten the game, but I would have been better prepared for the final (boring) space stage. I would have understood that it was broken, and been more accepting.

Oh well.

Superman Returns: The Game. I was really psyched for it as it sounded like Spiderman 2 (which was awesome) but with Superman. I mean free roaming around a massive city at the speed of sound shooting lasers out your eyes? Sign me up! I read a review of it and it got something like a 5/10 saying how boring, and mind numbingly repetitive it was. The city was bland and lifeless with stupid enemies and no story. I still bought it, and it was right. What an AWFUL game. The thing is I actually finished it just to see if there was any variety at the end. There was a small amount, but no hint of a plot.

Perfect Dark Zero. Despite seeing the review scores and hearing about the games general shittiness, I decided to give it a go, because... It thought it would be like Timesplitters. It was an incredibly floaty shooter with crap weapons and stupid AI.

And Frontlines: Fuel of War. Judging by reviews, it had interesting parts but ultimately was bland and uninteresting. Then I decided to buy it. Lo and behold, it was bland and uninteresting. And the sniper level was horrid.

The ones where I wish I'd listened - Silent Hill Homecoming, Frontlines Fuel Of War, Quake 4, Star Wars The Force Unleashed, Quantum Of Solace and to a degree...Borderlands and Metro 2033.
All had positive reviews from some sites and its not that I haven't had fun with them but there were enough warning signs that I should have known not to bother.

Scribblenauts, I mean it had mostly ok reviews, was one of more anticipated games for the concept behind it, I thought "Nah, I bet Yahtzee is exaggerating for the sake of laughs." turns out he wasn't, and that he was entirely correct.

Dante's Inferno.
It was ZP and he was absolutly right. I would have taken it back to the store if I had not waited too long before playing it. Worst game I have ever brought brand new.

If you like it then great but I can't see how it got such high reviews everywhere else.
