New Timesplitters, and console, but that doesnt matter as much lol.

Highlights

"The information was detailed to VideoGamer.com by a high-ranking industry source at Crytek, who stated that TimeSplitters 4 is currently being demonstrated internally, is being built with CryEngine 3, and was being shown privately in video form at E3 2011."

"The source reports that the graphics on TimeSplitters 4 are noticeably improved over current generation technology, with the DX11 tessellation effects allegedly having a huge impact on the visuals. Crytek believes that the game - and CryEngine 3 itself - will be seen as the cornerstone of next-generation development."

"As for the game itself, the new TimeSplitters is reported to focus on the series' branching paths and exploratory nature, with sandbox-style gameplay elements a big priority. The current goal is for levels to feature multiple routes that lead to the same overall conclusion."

"Speculation about TimeSplitters 4 has been running since 2007. Since its initial announcement the game was even pegged to be a Wii-exclusive before languishing in development hell and being put on hiatus in 2009."

Looking good, although I dont remember that there was focus on exploration, maybe on the second game, I dont remember that one very well. Either way its a plus.

This sounds as if the new console, to be announced next year and probably released in 2013 will already be 3+ years out of date. I hope not.

Uhh, why does it sound like somebody mixed up Crysis 3 with TimeSplitters 4, because TS has never really been about graphics or exploration, nor were any of the games Sandbox-style at all.
[sub]And yes I am aware there hasn't been a Crysis 3 announced yet...[/sub]

I guess in the end, though: At least it's Timesplitters 4, and the fact that it does indeed exist makes me a happy man indeed!

*Crosses fingers*

Let's just hope that Cortez still has his stupidly funny nature. If not, the new protagonist filling in for the part better make up for it.

- "Time to split!"

This is my personal wish list...

- Cortez
- Humorous campaign filled with decent amounts of exploration.
- Unique weapons
- A fucking lifebar, not that shit that replenishes itself.
- Those good ol' time-based sidekicks!
- Intelligently designed map-maker

Well, one can dream at least.

I'm hoping a lot of the crazy characters return like the dinosaur and the various monkeys
and some more challenge modes would be nice

Yea no. The xbox360 has way more life in it. Hell, they just updated the chipsets. Kinect is RAKING in the money right now. It will be some time before a new console releases. i say 2014 at most.

You know something, I agree with you. Timesplitters may not be (anywhere near) the best FPS series ever made, but Cortez has always sold me - Cortez is a stereotypical, quip-tossing dipshit of an action hero, but the game is always one hundred percent in on the joke - in Timesplitters: Future Perfect, the (otherwise forgettable) storyline was utterly carried by how genuinely funny it was to watch everyone around Cortez flat-out no-sell any of his (hilariously awful) quips.

He was a train wreck of a hero and it gave him a singular charm, I actually cared about him and his plight because of how funny it was to watch nobody buy his tough-guy-action-hero routine.

If Duke Nukem was portrayed more like this in DNF, as an outdated macro relic struggling to find relevance in a culture that got over him over a decade ago, that game might have been salvaged. Instead, having the game completely buy Duke's whole act without a trace of irony, it ends up as a boring, self-obsessed puddle of feces. (which you can throw.)
