I have an Irish oral(talking) exam for Tuesday and French oral exam for wednesday, tips for revision would be appreciated and hopefully others with exams might read this and get some help too.

Press the windows button, select the "power" option and click "shutdown". Just concentrate on memorizing--that is the only worthwhile tip anyone can give.

I'm on exams too at the moment, but no Oral Exams. I've only got to waltz into the exam room and answer some questions. I revise by doing shit loads of past papers, sometimes by condensing my notes, and occasionally by simply reading over stuff.

Past papers being my main method, when I'm faced with something I don't know, I look through my class-notes for guidance, or through textbooks.

However, concerning oral exams, I wouldn't really know how to specialise my revision for them. Still, hope what I have to offer can help in some way.

As far as oral's go, memorize reems of stuff. They ask for your name, you give your life story. the more you talk the quicker the time goes. I have gone to the gaeltacht a couple of times so im almost fluent(not trying to brag.) just get a sort of fact file of yourself together and translate it. Also have an opinion on issues like crime, racism and particularly unemployment. with that your covered.and what ever else you need for the exam (im in fifth year so the course is changing. now we get 40% for our oral and it includes a picture story like german)

yeah, I've considered going to the Gaelteach but then I realise their booked up by Christmas and I'd probably be spending most of my time doing watersports(My school signs up with one of the coastal ones in Donegal)

Don't go in sounding like you have learnt of loads of shit. Make it like a conversation and talk about what you are actually interested in. Know nothing about politics/racism and don't care to know that is fine. Just do through in "advanced tenses" like the Modh Coinníollach and Aimsir ghnathchaite that is all they really want.

For French throw around the Subjonctif fine some phrases that lead into it. I can't remember the ones off the top of my head I could have a look for the sheet I used early this year tomorrow if you want or you could just ask your teacher. Il faut que is one of the ones off the top of my head.

Here is some things you can use to lead into it. [http://french.about.com/od/grammar/ss/subjunctive_6.htm] The one I gave is good for saying the points you need for your course in college. Although depending on how good you are it might be a bit late to start learning this now. I am also doing Higher so it would help if you told us your level unless you want to keep it personal. Just so that some of us could give you material or advice appropriate to what you need.

Orals, eh? Ask around to people who've taken them in the past to get a feel for some of the possible topics. Memorize a lot of wide-reaching topics and statements. Memorize a view of the frequent ones that are harder to remember off the top of your head, and make sure you have a good grasp of the easy stuff too. Study hard, and have any friends also taking the exam study with you to make it more productive and fun.

Become very fearful of failure, and wallow in self pity until you get off your ass and learn the hell out of dem languages!

In all seriousness, find someone to practise with, or if you're more comfortable, just practise to yourself, over and over and over and over and over and over

For orals stick to the basics, make sure you can answer simply but fluently, if you try and get too fancy you will just trip yourself up. Practice saying some key phrases out loud just before you go to bed, they will stick with you much better.
I hope you don't mean tuesday and wednesday as in tomorrow and the day after because if so it's looking a bit late.

this is way too late for you to be leaving cert and i don't remember there being orals in the junior cert so to be honest it's not worth your time studying.

Never, ever, ever go on the internet.

Seriously, my 'ten minute break' the night before my physics exam turned into several hours of minecraft and the escapist.
Got to sleep maybe four hours before my exam started?
Fun times.

Memorization games.

Every time i have to remember a lot of stuff, i do one or two memorization exercises before and after reading, it really helps. The brain is a muscle, and you need to do some stretching!

My advice is to actually do it, rather than think about it, or plan to do it, or decide that you should probably have already done it.

I'm bad at following my own advice.

Shit... two maths and a physics exam in under a month... I should revise...

Any advice?
