Tips on how to survive a Zombie Outbreak

1. Silenced weapons are a godsend
2. swords are good but they need to be real swords not replicas though machetes will work.
3. Ammo is scarce even if you can make more always conserve it.
4. fire is a bad idea they can move and start a fire which could destroy your base.
5. vehicles are bad loud things that suck gas.
6. groups are needed. the more men you have the better chance you have to survive.
7. women who are pregnant should be left at base and cared for they have the key to the future in them.
now i know what your thinking this guy is rambling on about this stuff but hell i take anything serious. this stuff works in most apocalypse scenes.
8. baracades should be strong thick things preferable concrete.
9. haveing men who can do multible tasks is a good idea so if one man gets killed he can be replaced.
10. always keep your weapons clean. a dirty weapon will kill you.
11. always get the long lasting food and save it eat food in the order in which it will go bad. save the MREs to last.

This is also an important one. You will never survive this. No matter what you do, not matter where you go. You won't survive it. Something will go wrong, a zombie would get to close. You might be asking then whats the point of trying? I don't know about you, but I'd at least try? Who knows, I may have my ass intact after all.

I can add that all you have to do is live for what, a month? Unless the zombies are feeding of magic, then they will starve to death if they don't get enough to eat. If they run out of brains, they'll turn to cannibalism.

I'll survive. It's really not that hard. Either get way up high in a skyscraper, or in an isolated area (like the open country).

Better said than done. When your waiting for something, ten seconds can feel like an eternity. What I'm trying to say is its not that easy. If people simple survived, then we wouldn't really have a zombie outbreak, now would we? Also, there are billions of people currently residing on the earth, and that number can only grow larger. If the outbreak grew that big, than I doubt things would go to normal.

Also, the skyscraper and island bit: If that is the first thing you thought of, millions of people would have thought of it first. And most likely those millions of people won't be eager to share.

I am Six, and I have to say that I wasn't eaten by zombies yet. Five, however... Not quite as lucky.

Point 4 is really dumb. Long melee weapons is the way to go? Yeah way to 1 get easily overrun, 2 get their blood on you, 3 die painfully.

You can't actually kill a zombie with a melee weapon before it kills you, a bump on the head won't even slow the zombie down. Neither will a chop to the head or chest. Seriously good luck getting through the skull enough to damage the brain on the first swing, which is all you get at that range.

Your right. A melee weapon won't kill you if it isn't a well placed strike, but it will damn well knock you the fuck down. No matter what, undead or not, if you were slammed by a baseball bat your going down.

Also, I said guns are good to have, but don't rely on them as they are so many things that can go wrong. You could miss, it could jam, you could run out of ammo. Once the gun is out, then what? Unless its like a shotgun or something. That counts as melee too.

Well, not really. Firstly, most people are stupid and would get eaten quite quickly, increasing the number of zombies exponentially for a couple weeks until the only people that remained were the ones with good hiding spots. So actually probably two months.

If the government tried to quarantine the infection (a la Prototype or Doomsday), then we would have less to worry about. In fact, the military would get on that like moths on a light, and there would be research for a cure as soon as it became clear that people were becoming zombies. In fact, with the way news travels, it would be all over national and world news in a day.

Now that I think about it, what ever floor of a skyscraper you're staying on would have to be cleared. And that would suck.

A zombie outbreak depends on many things. Is it airborn? Is it in the water? How fast will the government and media react? What kind of zombies are they? There are the questions that need to be answered.

Life during a zombie outbreak (assuming you're caught in the middle of it, or it's encompassed a large portion of the worlds population) would be quite difficult, there's no arguement about it. But there's only so many assumptions we can make before we can truly assess the situation.

In short, gun are loud but effective. Swords are silent but only really good when sharpened. Bludgeoning weapons are useful, but might not work as more than an inconvenience to a rage zombie.

mah rules:
1. people cannot be trusted. robots however, can.
2. identify the type of zombie= exponential increase in survival chances
3. a repeating crossbow is a good alternative to guns
4. weapon+high explosives=horde fighting weapon
5. flamethrowers are only for when you are running away from the horde
6. for many types of zombies, automatic weapons are not as useless as you would think. special note; for general use, see flamethrower
7. for zombies that dont heal, and are not supernatural, the world will kill them for you, all you need is distance and time. hide in a temperature extreme. my vote is cold.

thank you for defending what i said. though i would use a silenced USP .45 and a machettes bigger bullet.

EDIT: UGH, So many kids with MW2 who think they know anything about guns.

If you MUST use a firearm, grab yourself a sturdy, bolt action rifle. Anyone who suggests anything else is an idiot and doesn't know anything about ammo conservation. If you MUST you a melee weapon, use a crowbar, it isnt any more efficient than anything else but at least you can die awesomely.

I've been here only a mere 7 months give or take and even ive seen this thread repeated en-nausieum, (IE more than once) but here goes.

Dont think that your fortress is safe. Eventually some force greater than you, be it man or shambeling freaks, will arise to attack you, Keep moving.

Some times, Not alot, but sometimes it is eaiser to imobalize a zombie for a future kill shot than to waste ammo aiming for the head straight off.

Realize that real zombies would not be magical beings that can shrug of all attacks and continue functioning after receiving crippling wounds. Headshots are not the only way to kill them. Like everything else, they need to eat to continue functioning. Their strength is still limited to that of a normal human. Realize that the biggest threat a zombie possess is that they can turn you into one of them. So don't take any chances if you don't know how the disease is transmitted. Disposes of all zombie corpses are carefully as possible, since corpses can still transmit disease. Just barricade yourself inside your house, and wait for the military to clean the whole thing up. Unless it is incredibly easy to contract the disease, in which case you're probably going to turn anyways.

In other words, apply logic to zombies and realize that they would not be nearly as dangerous as stupid B movies lead you to believe.

Unless you use subsonic rounds, a silencer just makes a gun quiet enough to not permanantley damage your eardrums. Ppl who believe the movie silencers are the real thing are uninformed.
