Have you ever dreamed of going to Japan? Well, here's a few tips to make your Japan trip the greatest ever!

1: If this is your first time visiting Japan, try to get your hands on a smart card like Suica. With it, you can travel smoothly and in some cases you can even pay your shopping trips with the card.

2: Try and find a capsule hotel to sleep in for a night. They are the cheapest lodging available.

3: Try and memorise where have you been by using landmarks and such. That way, you won't get lost, hopefully.

4: Have fun!

Well, what do you think?

I think:

There's the national JR rail pass, isn't there? And, I've got to say, it's a fair idea to try and limit your spending by taking out a limited amount of money and having the card concealed on your person for emergencies.

Also:

Couchsurfing's cheaper than hotels, and you'll hear more about the local area and stuff tourists don't generally encounter, though often you'll have to make more effort with the language. But I consider that simply to be polite, in a foreign country. I'm not saying you should be able to read newspapers, but learn the basics.

No, not really. I don't like travelling. :/ And especially long distance. And Japan is too damn far away.

However, I think these hotels are an awesome idea. I think they should have more of them around the world. Heck, I can even live in one for the academic year, if it's going to be cheaper than renting a place.

I think that's not exactly a tip for Japan only - it's applicable everywhere.

Thanks, Japan and Russia are where I want to go someday
Let's see if I can help you, I'll modify slightly the original tips

1: If this is your first time visiting Japan Russia, try to get your hands on a smart card like Suica some vodka. With it, you can travel smoothly and in some cases you can even pay your shopping trips with the card vodka.

2: Try and find a capsule cheap hotel to sleep in for a night. They are the cheapest lodging available.

3: Try and memorise where have you been by using landmarks and such. That way, you won't get lost, hopefully. Also, have some vodka.

4: Have fun vodka!

From what I know about Russia that would help.

Similarly, working from my knowledge of Japan, don't forget your katana, as it would be invaluable if you're confronted by bad people or evil demons or something. From your profile, I see that you are not a girl, so this would make things somewhat easier on you. Still, try to avoid any stray tentacles you may come across. However, if when giant mecha attack, you'll most probably be fucked.
