After reading through that weird person thread I want to know how many people actually see themselves as normal. By the general mood of that thread it seems that everyone here sees themselves as a social outcast. So as a person that can get over their social quirks and understand that they are normal compared to true freaks, (ever been to a psyche ward?)I want to know who sees themselves as normal; who can be described as normal and who just said they were weird in the other thread to fit in.

Remember to measure up what makes you different and whether it is self inflicted, compared to how much you have in common with everyone else; before labelling yourself as "weird", instead of just trying to be different like ever other emo.

If everyone here is a legitimate outcast, it would be interesting to find out why this website has attracted such a high concentration of misfits.

(I got banned for discrimination from the last forums I visited before I could tell them the quality of their site was failing, so I'm back until I find a new forum that is going down hill.)

I think the term "normal person" is an oxymoron since everyone has their own perception of what normal is. And therefor, no one is normal.

Oh woe is me, I am so normal and conformist...
Except I'm happy, so who cares?

I think I'm pretty normal. Others don't, but those people are often stranger than I could ever aspire to be.

To anyone besides my close friends, I'm a pretty normal guy. Sure, I play videogames and am fairly shy, but that not unusual. To my friends, however, I'm considered at least a bit weird. I'm always the guy that comes up with random thoughts, ideas, or suggestions. Also, I'll do relatively random things for the sole purpose of doing them.

Of course, if you want to get into the psychological arguments of being normal, either we're all normal, since we all conform to society in subconscious ways, or we're all abnormal, since everyone has personality quirks and varying mindsets in how they see the world. Then again, I'm not a psychologist.

I am in no way normal, i am far supperior to everyone else, i'm almost like jesus: He turned water to wine, i turn wine (or any other drink) to water.

Unless you're some kind of superstar, or have some talent that REALLY stands out, i don't think you'll get seen as something special in a positive way.

People are much more willing to look down on others flaws, so it's much more common to see "social outcasts" as you call them.

Take a school class for example, i bet you theres at least one outsider who doesn't fit in, but you'll have a hard time finding someone who amongst the class is accepted as standing out in a good way, and who they'll agree is superrior to the rest of the class (not just talking grades)

People look down on others to make themselves feel better, but they'll be unlikely to look up to someone from amongst their group of peers, because that would be acknowledging that they themselves were inferrior.

Based on this I guess i'm glad that i'm "normal"

I am both normal and non-normal. On the outside, I look like an average gamer/nerd on the outside, so I'm not bothered to much about that.

On the inside however, I'm rather unique, and people are always surprised when I do something they wouldn't expect me to do.
Like today, In 7th period, my friend jokingly grabbed my shirt and since my shirt was so close-fitting, grabbed my pec. I reacted instantly be grabbing his neck and squeezing lightly, he backed up and semi-kicked twice, both of which I blocked with a kick of my own. Everyone who saw was astonished that I was able to do that.

People's assumptions can be wrong. Although, I guess that I am pretty normal, but seeing as I am normal, when compared to the people I hang out with... I am weird, because I am normal.

you know.. it's often the most " normal" person who has the sickest fetishes and obsessions :p

I think of myself as normal....highly cultured...perhaps above average....but normal none the less.

Let me completely own this thread with my own personal mantra:

What is normal but your own definition?

Eh, I'm far from normal, but I don't really see myself as weird. I'm a social misfit, mostly through my own choices, and that's the way I like it. I grew up far from normal, and it's left its mark, but hey, I still put my pants on one leg after another, just like (most?) everyone else.

To people I just met or am becoming friends with I'm normal.
To my real friends I'm weird as hell. Like that time I bought 70 pixie sticks, pulled my pants up as high as they could go and tuck my shirt in, then skip around Wal-Mart while looking for fun dip. While wearing a BK crown.

...good times there...

It is a terrible thing to call people with mental disorders "freaks". You could never even begin to understand their plight.
freak 1 (frk)
n.
1. A thing or occurrence that is markedly unusual or irregular: A freak of nature produced the midsummer snow.
2. An abnormally formed organism, especially a person or animal regarded as a curiosity or monstrosity.

I am not specifically referring to them as monstrosities however I maintain that people in psyche wards are abnormally formed, which is the reason they are in psyche wards to begin with.

And yet, I can. ^-^ Tourette's Syndrome has done a very good job of helping me understand what it's like to live with a mental disorder first hand. Oh, and i consider my self a freak. Just saying.
