Because better graphics matter to some people? People who are interested in technology and plus the better graphics and frames the consoles can manage the easier it would be to port and 1080p is pretty much the standard on TV these days so they should meet that.KazeAizen said:How come people still honestly care about this crap? Origin is barely a con. I played a few EA games through the past 2 years and I never had trouble with Origin crashes (Mass Effect 3 and Battlefield 3 were the games I played on Origin).Evonisia said:Pros: The benefits of PC gaming.DarkhoIlow said:Here's the solution for your dilemma = play it on the PC.Mr.Squishy said:Pros: Awesome concept, seems like it plays smoothly, good resolution/fps.

At this rate it's just wait a few months for the Xbox 360 port.
I'm interested in technology but pretty much the whole of the internet has me so burned out on the thing that when I'm sitting in virtual environments classes at school I begin to roll my eyes when they start mentioning this kind of stuff. I shouldn't be burned out on it to the point that I want to get up and rant about this crap in my class. In my opinion we should've just buckled down with the leash Nintendo put on us with their Wii U since it is as powerful as a 360 and PS3 and quite frankly between those games and everything I'm seeing for new generation I can't really tell a lick of difference. None at all. The fact that people continue to flip their lids over this just boggles my mind. Unless it is visibly affecting gameplay or the in game experience in a negative way we really shouldn't care.Dark Knifer said:Because better graphics matter to some people? I do agree aesthetic is more important but some aesthetics work best with great hardware, such as a large sandbox and what not.
It's not really a huge deal but it would be nice to meet the benchmark of standard on televisions with standardised hardware.
Fair enough, the internet does that to things. It's not a huge deal, certainly not "anything less then 4k is not a game, its a rock with some carvings on it" or something silly like that.KazeAizen said:snip
Origin's not fantastic, but it's not so horrible that it's worth buying it on 360 if you already have a capable PC. If it's because you can't trust EA as far as you could throw them like me, you could always run it in a sandbox like I do.Evonisia said:Pros: The benefits of PC gaming.

Nice! Do you already have a build planned out?KazeAizen said:I'm just finally going to start building my own rig.
That's not really how upscaling works. If you're running 1280x720 on a 1920x1080 monitor without large borders around the image, you're already upscaling the image, so increasing the internal resolution will just make the image look better.medv4380 said:792p? No monitor, or TV will support that resolution nativly. At 792p it will look bad on every LCD monitor ever made. It should have been trimmed down to 720p or letter boxed in 1080p. Nope. I have absolutely nothing planned out.ToastyMozart said:Nice! Do you already have a build planned out?KazeAizen said:I'm just finally going to start building my own rig.
Yes it did and we can agree on that. Heck a strong story was what kept people coming back to Final Fantasy pre VII since they were some of the very few games that told a strong narrative back in the day. Well I think I shall leave this thread before I view more content that makes me roll my eyes and or get my blood boiling. Oh Internets my best friend and worst nightmare all in one place.Dark Knifer said:Fair enough, the internet does that to things. I'll just say, the movie your avatar is based benefitted greatly from advances in technology so gaming should also be looking to advance, but it's not the most important thing next to story and of course gameplay.
I think we can both agree with that.
Well, assuming your budget's around $700-800 total, I'd recommend the GTX 760 in terms of price/performance for the video card, or an HD7870/270x if that's not an option.KazeAizen said:Nope. Thanks for the tip and yeah that's about my price range. This Mac has served me well for the past 4 years but its probably about time to put her out to pasture. The reason I held onto it for so dang long was because its not everyday you find a computer for $1000 with the entire Adobe CS5 and Microsoft office programs in it. CS5 was like fresh on the market when I got this thing.ToastyMozart said:Well, assuming your budget's around $700-800 total, I'd recommend the GTX 760 in terms of price/performance for the video card, or an HD7870/270x if that's not an option.KazeAizen said:Nope. Also, just save up until you can buy all the parts at once. No point in dropping $250 on a component when its price has fallen to $210 by the time you can use it.
Incorrect, taking an 800 x 600 resolution and piping it to a 1024 x 768 native LCD monitor results in this.ToastyMozart said:That's not really how upscaling works. The 760's amazing price/performance wise, but it's also around $50 more than the 7870, which is what I went with for my initial build (I made it before the 7xx series launched).KazeAizen said:So the GTX 760 or HD7870/270x eh? I'll write that down.
They cant. Youtube doesnt have 1080p. What youtube has is very blurry super-compressed video that runs on 1080 resolution and 25 FPS.Dark Knifer said:We couldn't even make 1080p
How can cat videos on youtube achieve 1080p and a console from a gigantic corporation can't.
probably because 1080p is bare minimum the new consoles should have delivered. and no, you dont need 40 inch tv for that. any 19 inch tv will show you a difference real nice.Arawn said:I'm happy to hear the beta is underway, but why are so many people hung up on resolution of late? I guess it's nice when you have a 40+ tv or something. It seems every other time when a game isn't 1080 people get mad or make snide remarks. I really don't care how good a game looks in relation to how well it plays. I mean I love Paper Please, and it looks like something made for Apple II E. I guess I just have low standards; if it works and glitches, I'm good. Anything after that is gravy.
resolution on PC wil lbe costumizable. If they dont allow that that would probably be a first game in years to do that. No, wait, there was also Guise of the Wolf that locked your resolution but thats very much indie.CriticalMiss said:And is this weird resomolution just on the Xbone or for PC too? False. The only people who cannot tell the difference are those who have eye-sight problem.MercurySteam said:Most people who game on television screens can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p.

Its not. There is no new API. Its using PC infrastructure. If you could program games for PC you can program them for new consoles. The only thing is Microsofts retarded idea of using united RAM for both GPU and CPU.Hopefully this is just a development issue due to working with a new API.If not microsoft is going to have a lot of unhappy customers when the divide between ps4 and xbox one gets bigger.
they were doing this sucesfully for EVERY generation but this.VonBrewskie said:I don't think these consoles are trying to match high-end PCs.
Then they have completely failed on both sides of this need. They neither provide high-end gaming experiences nor do they avoid the hassle that PCs have. They're trying to provide high-end gaming experiences to consumers without the hassle PCs can sometimes be and usually the associated costs.
It is hardware issues. Forza gets away with it because racing games are not processing intesive because it factors in only the racing. heck, people already made fun at how AWFUL anything but the cars and main track look on forza already. Thats like saying battlefield shoudl run at max resolution always because we can make tetris do that so its not hardware!Programmed_For_Damage said:It's not a hardware issue. Forza 5 does 1080p at 60fps. It's more about the devs being able to achieve it, which by the sounds of things is like trying to thread a camel through the eye of a needle. Sigh. When it is upscaled to 1080 no. You will not be able to tell the difference unless you have both side by side and even then just barely. And yes it is a new API. Its using x86 architecture which has nothing to do with the actual API. Maybe you got confused responding to so many people at once. Mantle is a new API that still uses x86 architecture. C) Not actually watching HD.

It isn't though. I've been wanting to get into PC gaming for a little while. I have a Steam account I rarely use for fear of not being able to play a lot of games, and quite a few games seem to be windows exclusive. Besides this old Mac of mine is on its last legs anyway. I'm due for a new computer soon. As for Alienware the only reason I mention them is because they are the one computer maker that I know makes dedicated gaming style laptops and a few of my friends have em. So yeah call me ignorant on that but if I could find a bargain on one that isn't too beat up I'm not going to complain.Strazdas said:Sigh. 4K resolutions? Foreign language to me. On a personal level 1080p as in HD being the bare minimum for visually pleasing is just something really and truly sad to me. When we went HD in my home me and my bro didn't care or really see the difference. Somehow though our parents did care which it should be the other way around. I never use the HD channels on our TV and my mom and dad constantly wonder why. The reason is because there isn't much of a concerning difference between the two for me to care. Upscaling does not make your game look better. It is still low resolution when you upscale it. That is like zooming on an image and applying a sharpening filter.Robert Marrs said:When it is upscaled to 1080 no. well, then building a PC (that you seem to be going to do from your posts) or buying a prebuilt PC that isnt overpriced is the way to go. You cannot find a bargain on Alienware even if it was 50% off. They are simply overpricing their computers to enormous extent. You are better off with somone like "PC Specialist[footnote]Its a name of a shop[/footnote]" prebuilding your PC or finding some other locally prebuilt PC.KazeAizen said:It isn't though. Standard being bare minimum for modern hardware that is supposed to last for next 10 years according to MS. No, i dont find that sad at all. I find it sad that new hardware is incapable of that. Where could it possibly go from HD? What are we gonna call it? Can't we just stay here for like 10 minutes without trying to break the bank on making everything so high res. and all that? Lets work on it some more when we get closer to holo decks I say....yeah if you couldn't tell I'm utterly tired of hearing about this nonsense. Clearly sticking to something like the Wii U would've been a better idea since they can't seem to get what they wanted to out of their overly bloated VCR of a console.Strazdas said:Standard being bare minimum for modern hardware that is supposed to last for next 10 years according to MS.
