I need to make a virtual device that I can download an installer to, to then have it use the installer and install a program onto my actual PC.

How would one go about doing that? Cause I can't find shit about how to make a V.D. that I can understand/don't have to purchase.
Thanks for the help.

I guess you mean without reformatting ?

I use Partition magic to do these things "on the fly" but it's not a free product...not sure you can mod the partition without reformatting on a win system (without PM anyways) lemme look it up...

Edit : also, what Os are you using ?

You want to make a virtual PC?

you can use Sun VirtualBox, it is free, and allows you to create a VPC.
Not sure if that is what you want though...

Er, no, no full VPC, just a "device", whatever the fuck that is. These instruction manuals are bloody unhelpful.
And I'm using XP.

For those wondering, here's the exact line from the manual:
"Install with a virtual device"
And that's about it for install help.

do you have an .iso file that has an installer on it?

download the tool magic disk. pretty much it creates a virtual CD drive that you can mount .iso files and windows will detect that as a cd that you put into the tray and then you can run or pull up anything on that .iso file.

i'm not going to walk you through everything, they have a faq/manual that has all the information.

If it's indeed a .iso and you need a virtual drive, i'd recommend daemon-tools too, a 3-yo could use it :) (no offense)

First you need to find the nastiest hooker, preferably... Hehe I kid.

Seriously though, I have no idea how to help you.
