I have a question for you, why are your food products so different? Canada and the States have almost all the same food products (made also by the same companies, so like Kellogs and what not) but they're totally different, for example: I've had the United States version of Corn Pops and I swear to god, worst tasting cereal ever while the Canadian version is AMAZING, the "pops" don't even look like their Canadian counter-part. Also the designs for the products are different too, where our Skippy peanut butter has a squirrel on the container, the states have nothing.

Why is that?

It's just difference in who happens to be the head of that HQ, maybe. Just like the Strawberry Fanta in Mx is fuckin' fantastic. Real cane sugar! Cola doesn't taste very good though, but that's just a personal thing.

As tempting as it is to say something snarky, it's mostly just different food regulations and standards as well as different branches of the same company. Quite often the 'foreign' branches of large company have a good deal of autonomy. Not always, but often enough.

For example I know the US had a big deal over that pink slime thing not long ago, with the stuff being used in some ridiculous amount of meat products. For regulation reasons that never happened and couldn't happen in Canada due to ammonia treated meats being not allowed thanks to Health Canada.

Lots of little things like that add up.

Different distribution centers. I remember going to Canada and having a Pepsi at a chain I know for a fact only serves Coke in America. Distribution I believe will naturally include marketing and boxing/bottling/canning, though I suppose that the whole manufacturing process could be entirely separate depending on the area. It does make a certain degree of logistical sense when you think about it.

American corn pops are shitty, yes.

But their bacon isn't our bacon. It's fucking ham.

THIS is bacon.

What they get is back bacon. We get belly bacon. We put stomach in our stomach to make more stomach.

We're fucking logical wi' dat shit.

Fun fact, the term "Canadian Bacon" was coined in the USA. We call it ham, if you go to Canada and ask for bacon, we will give you bacon and not ham.

So basically you're calling Canadians silly for something the Americans did =P.
Thank you for saying this. I'm tired of people assuming I like thick circle ham on the grill instead of the godly thin strips that are bacon.

They do get better deals on food products, gas and other things so I don't really feel like a superior consumer or anything.

Yes, but you never actually said what your bacon is.

We wouldn't make the distinction if there wasn't one.

I'm guessing the whole, "America vs Canada" rivalry is like the "Australian vs New Zealand" rivalry. Amirite?

OT: I dunno why.
Only without the sheep. Oh snap!

OT: Americans have lower standards, as others have said. Although Canadians call poutine food, so...

Its bacon. Our bacon here in Canada is exactly the same product you posted. There is no difference. Americans for some reason decided that ham in Canada was Canadian Bacon. Also that heresy thing you posted, its only heresy in that case if people say America is better than Canada. We have Tim Hortons. We know how to make coffee. That sludge Statbucks sell is nasty. Same with Baskin Robins and Dunkin Donuts. Also we have Smarties.

What you Americans call Smarties, we call Rockets.

Those are Rockets, not Smarties.

Oh and Poutine. Never forget the greatness of Poutine.

Well I can't say that I know the answer to that question, but I can say that food in the US is poison, and is one of the reasons for obesity and poor health. Luckily, I live in a region rich with agriculture, so I get all my fruits and veggies fresh. Also, I don't eat fast food.

I can talk only about US/European products.
Same products, but the taste is so different that you would think it's a different product.

The EU has MUCH stricter food regulation laws. Companies have to change the product in order to be able to sell them. Even McDonald's did it. The McDonald's in EU have much more salad than in the US.

I assume it's the same in the Canada/US case.

Not sure about this one.
Canada gave us Justin Bieber. I don't think there is redemption for something as that.

Because in America we have to stuff everything full of sugar and salt. The different shape is required to hold the sugar content?
