After The Brawl (which I liked) and Kickassia (which was meh) I just stopped caring about the Anniversary specials and any of the storylines that keep getting thrown into the reviews. I tried to watch this one since the ending of the Scooby Doo episode got me curious but after a 40 minute slog with nary a chuckle from Part 1 it took me around 20 seconds of Part 2 for me to declare: "Fuck this, I'm done!"

I haven't really watched any Channel Awesome stuff in over a year and it's sad to hear that it's been going downhill. I can hardly say I am surprised though.

TGWTG has been going downhill? I don't know about that. Then again, the general opinion for a site is always "It used to be better".

Agreed. It's like a saying I heard once. "The best year for the pop charts was the one before you were born."

I haven't liked a single anniversarry deal before and that will likely never change.

I'm always amused at how TGWTG is ALWAYS going downhill, though. Seems like this criticism has been around every week since the site went up. Probably goes back to his days on Youtube, even.

Also, I tend to hate storylines from these critics, anyway. They tend to be either self-fellating (Linkara, Blockbuster Buster), not funny (Diamanda, Blockbuster Buster), drag (Nostalgia Critic, Blockbuster Buster) or just irritating as fuck (Blockbuster Buster). But then, I've always had that problem.

And I hate Angry Joe. But I've always had that problem, too.

If anything, though, I've found a lot of the site to get better with time. It's had some failures in its time, but it was like that back when I first started visiting, and it'll be like that in fifty million years if the site remains.

My girlfriend will probably murder me now, but...Screw the anniversary series!

Hah, yeah. The world always seems like a better place before you entered it and had to began putting up with its crap =P

I dunno, I'm kinda torn on To Boldly Flee. The first part really did slog on a bit too long, but I think 2 was an improvement. There were a few laughs (I particularly liked the Insano scene, and the part where 8-Bit Micky straight up murders that dude), and it seemed a bit better paced. I think what is making it kind of hard for me to get all-in on TBF is the clash of tones. They have an insane plot premise and the usual gallery of... eccentric characters, but everyone is playing it totally straight. Even the Critic is acting like a leader, instead of us usual conniving, selfish, mostly-inept self.

If there really are 8 parts then I can't pass judgement on the whole thing for what is basically the first quarter, but still, I do hope that everyone gets to cut loose and have fun. It just seems like everyone and their characters have been a bit constrained in the first part. They haven't had a lot to do, or a lot of time to cut loose, between setting up the plot and premise.

Also, the SOPA parody seems kinda dated, and is so unsubtle its almost painful. =P

It's crazy idea time!

If you don't like it, stop watching it!

I don't like the new Doctor Who, I haven't watched it since Let's Kill Hitler because I decided that enough was enough. I don't ***** about it online, I don't criticise people who watch it or anyone involved in the production or the cast. I gain nothing from the criticism, and no one who read my whining about it would gain anything either.

Maybe, and I know this is a crazy idea, if you don't like something, you should stop watching it?
What you just did...It still kind of counts as complaining.

It['s not just websites. Kids in the Hall mocked this with sports teams before the internet had really slipped into common usage.

It's been confirmed by the powers that be (not sure who, but I think it was either Holly or Doug Walker) that it will be eight parts. And if the second part is any judge, I think we'll be seeing some cutting loose. The first two parts, I feel, were more focused on introducing the plots and tying them together. With that done, we should be seeing some letting loose.

And I agree about the SOPA parody, but I did find Lame R. Prick (a blatant parody of Lamar Smith, the author of SOPA) to be amusing, and it was nice to see Orlando as a completely different character from Suburban Knight's Malachite.

I could ***** more.

But seriously, I haven't made any threads about it, I don't go into threads where people are talking about it to complain, and I don't use it as my only example of things I don't enjoy. Sure when I do mention it I say a little about how I don't like it, but this is probably the first time I've even thought about Doctor Who in maybe three months.

I'm going to be in the minority opinion here and say that I freakin' LOVE To Boldly Flee so far. Unashamedly so. It's kind of what I wanted in Suburban Knights, to be honest: a serious situation being treated and dealt with as such.

Admittedly, NC has lost his touch and is at his best when he's doing Top 11s or Old Vs. News, but Linkara and Todd are still freakin' awesome.

I hope to join them someday, actually. Can the awesome users of the Escapist give me a chance? Thank you all, sorry for the shameless self-promotion, please don't ban me!

If you don't like the thread, don't post on it. You criticize me for complaining yet you're doing it yourself.

Well...duh. Did my OP really come across as though I were stating my opinion as fact? I made the thread wondering how people on a different site liked TBF and TGWTG.
You may have made it for that purpose, but came across as "This is a piece of crap! Who agrees with me?"

I haven't watched an anniversary special due to not being a fan of some of the reviewers and my sincere dislike of zany humor. As for the site going downhill, I will have to decline. Three of my absolute favorite reviewers, and frankly my only reason to check site daily, are fairly new to the site: Cinema Snob, Todd in the Shadows, and Oancitizen. Their humor is more nitpicking, insightful, and clever jokes rather than mugging at the camera, zaniness, cringe-tastic stories, and one note jokes.

Also crossovers annoy me mainly due to the whole trying to set up a story why they are doing a crossover. That gets old really fast.

I'm actually loving To Boldly Flee more than any of their other anniversaries. It's so ridiculous and over the top (and they all are, but this one seems to take it further) that I just get this feeling of humor through it. I don't know, maybe it just hit some specific chemistry with me.

As for the state of the site, as said before Todd in the Shadows is absolutely awesome. I'm really sad that Spoony is done with the site, I still enjoy his Final Fantasy reviews today as much as I did back when his Final Fantasy VIII review began. I was/am looking forward to his XIII review, I hope he releases it somewhere.

I don't enjoy NC as much as I used to, but I don't think that's because the quality of the series has gone down. I've tried going back to old reviews which I just loved when they first came out and they leave me with the same feeling the new ones do. I think the problem is that the "Over exaggerated reviewing" thing has been showing up so much in the past five or six years that it's really just become an incinerated dead horse. This shows for all "critic" shows.

AVGN doesn't feel as fun as it used to be, NC doesn't feel as fun as it used to be, hell even Yahtzee simply doesn't get me like it used to. Yeah, I said it.

This has become so true it hurts, and not just with the internet. Radio? Used to be better. Youtube? Used to be better. Hell, every kind of media seems to feel that way, including gaming.

Oh, well at least somebody tells me. It's not always easy to predict how people will respond to your posts. Guess not much can be done about it at this point. This thread will probably lose steam soon, so it won't matter.

I'm loving To Boldly Flee so far and I don't think TGWTG is going downhill. To me it just seems like people are pissed because Doug made fun of a movie they like, like Temple of Doom. Hey, I love Temple of Doom, but his review was still funny!

It seems like people on most forums (especially the The Escapist) are always like, "The older videos were funnier" or "The site used to be good". I love the old videos and new videos alike.

The anniversaries are a lot of fun and to people saying the acting is bad, what do you expect?

I mostly pay attention to the NChick/Todd/Lupa love/hate triangle. I like them. I ignore the others, mostly.

I'll watch "To Boldly Flee" when it's finished, if only because I have a friend who will kill me in my sleep if I don't.
